        국내외 패션삭스의 디자인 경향

        The purpose of this study is to investigate domestic and foreign fashion sock design trends and suggest a proposal for competitive fashion sock design developments. The methods of this study are undertaken by literature review and design trend analysis. For the design trend analysis, in the case of domestic cases, 209 pictures from 7 brands, and in the case of foreign cases, 870 pictures from 10 brands are being chosen. In terms of analysis criteria, the colors, patterns, lengths and images of both the domestic and foreign socks are being compared. As a result, among the fashion foreign socks, more than 4 colors are the most common, and dark & dark grayish, strong & deep color tones are the most popular. Also, the stylized, geometrical patterns, and casual, cute and unique images are generally used. In the case of domestic fashion socks, 2 colors are the most common with vivid, strong & deep color tones as the most popular. Furthermore the patterns are limited to geometric patterns, and the images of socks are inclined to be too casual. To enhance the competitiveness of Korean sock designs, the variety of patterns and images are essential.

        디자인 선호도 조사에 의한 양말 디자인 개발

        The purpose of this study is to develop high-valued added socks by utilizing consumer design preference research in design. The study was performed by investigating literatures including previous studies, and researching the recognition and design preference of consumers. As a final step, socks designs were developed to reflect the results of the research. Gender differences have been found in the choice of socks. Women put more importance to the design, color and trend and prefer geometric, animals and plants patterns, and unique images compared to men. In terms of fashion interest level, ``high`` group preferred design, color, and trend than ``middle`` and ``low`` group, and also preferred geometric, abstract patterns. Women`s and unisex socks were designed for people in their 20s, the age group with the highest level of interest in fashion, after taking results of the consumer design preference research into account. Main themes for the lady`s socks are ‘Soft Shape’ and ‘Line Composition’ in order to express delicate, soft sensibility. For the unisex socks, ‘Daydreamer’ and ‘Free Zone’ are the themes used to express young energy and the sense of freedom. 12 styles were developed by creating 3 styles per theme using Photoshop CS5 and Illustrator CS5 programs. As a result, it is confirmed that design strategies in segmented market are necessary for the high-valued added products. Also, the understanding of changes in consumer`s tastes and needs through regular market research is needed for the competitive socks design planning.

        Critical behavior near the ferromagnetic-paramagnetic transformation in the austenite phase of Ni<sub>43</sub>Mn<sub>46</sub>Sn<sub>8</sub>X<sub>3</sub> (X=In and Cr) Heusler alloys

        <P><B>Abstract</B></P> <P>In this work, we present a detailed study on the magnetic property and critical behavior in the austenitic phase of Ni<SUB>43</SUB>Mn<SUB>46</SUB>Sn<SUB>8</SUB>X<SUB>3</SUB> alloys with X=Cr and In, which were prepared by an arc-melting method in an argon ambience. The <I>M</I>(<I>T</I>) curve of the Cr sample (X=Cr) exhibits a single magnetic phase transition at the Curie temperature of the ferromagnetic (FM) austenitic phase with <I>T</I> <SUP>A</SUP> <SUB>C</SUB> =303K. In contrast, the In sample (X=In) exhibits multiple magnetic phase transitions, including a magnetic phase transition from a FM state to weakly magnetic state at <I>T</I> <SUP>M</SUP> <SUB>C</SUB> =165K of the martensitic phase, a martensitic transition from the weakly magnetic to the FM austenite phase at <I>T</I> <SUP>M-A</SUP> =259K, and a magnetic phase transition from the FM to paramagnetic (PM) at <I>T</I> <SUP>A</SUP> <SUB>C</SUB> =297K of the austenite phase. Based on the Landau theory and <I>M</I>(<I>H</I>) data measured at different temperatures, we pointed that the FM-PM phase transitions around <I>T</I> <SUP>A</SUP> <SUB>C</SUB> in both samples were the second-order phase transition. Our results suggest an existence of the long-range FM interactions in the austenite phase. A small deviation from the mean-field theory of the critical exponents has been also observed pointing out an existence of the inhomogeneous magnetism that could be associated with the presence of the anti-FM interactions in these samples. Besides, their effective exponents <I>β</I> <SUB>eff</SUB>(<I>ε</I>) and <I>γ</I> <SUB>eff</SUB>(<I>ε</I>) have been also calculated.</P>

        p13 from group II baculoviruses is a killing-associated gene

        p13 gene was first described in Leucania separata multinuclear polyhedrosis virus (Ls-p13) several years ago, but the function of P13 protein has not been experimentally investigated to date. In this article, we indicated that the expression of p13 from Heliothis armigera single nucleocapsid nucleopolyhedrovirus (Ha-p13) was regulated by both early and late promoter. Luciferase assay demonstrated that the activity of Ha-p13 promoter with hr4 enhancer was more than 100 times in heterologous Sf9 cells than that in nature host Hz-AM1 cells. Both Ls-P13 and Ha-P13 are transmembrane proteins. Confocal microscopic analysis showed that both mainly located in the cytoplasm membrane at 48 h. Results of RNA interference indicated that Ha-p13 was a killing-associated gene for host insects H. armigera. The AcMNPV acquired the mentioned killing activity and markedly accelerate the killing rate when expressing Ls-p13. In conclusion, p13 is a killing associated gene in both homologous and heterologous nucleopolyhedrovirus. [BMB Reports 2012; 45(12): 730-735]

        Curcumin modulates the apolipoprotein B mRNA editing by coordinating the expression of cytidine deamination to uridine editosome components in primary mouse hepatocytes

        Curcumin, an active ingredient of Curcuma longa L., can reduce the concentration of low-density lipoproteins in plasma, in different ways. We had first reported that curcumin exhibits hypocholesterolemic properties by improving the apolipoprotein B (apoB) mRNA editing in primary rat hepatocytes. However, the role of curcumin in the regulation of apoB mRNA editing is not clear. Thus, we investigated the effect of curcumin on the expression of multiple editing components of apoB mRNA cytidine deamination to uridine (C-to-U) editosome. Our results demonstrated that treatment with 50 μM curcumin markedly increased the amount of edited apoB mRNA in primary mouse hepatocytes from 5.13%–8.05% to 27.63%–35.61%, and significantly elevated the levels of the core components apoB editing catalytic polypeptide- 1 (APOBEC-1), apobec-1 complementation factor (ACF), and RNA-binding-motifprotein- 47 (RBM47), as well as suppressed the level of the inhibitory component glycine-arginine-tyrosine-rich RNA binding protein. Moreover, the increased apoB RNA editing by 50 μM curcumin was significantly reduced by siRNA-mediated APOBEC- 1, ACF, and RBM47 knockdown. These findings suggest that curcumin modulates apoB mRNA editing by coordinating the multiple editing components of the editosome in primary hepatocytes. Our data provided evidence for curcumin to be used therapeutically to prevent atherosclerosis

        The Integrins Involved in Soybean Agglutinin-Induced Cell Cycle Alterations in IPEC-J2

        Soybean agglutinin (SBA) is an anti-nutritional factor of soybean, affecting cell proliferation and inducing cytotoxicity. Integrins are transmembrane receptors, mediating a variety of cell biological processes. This research aims to study the effects of SBA on cell proliferation and cell cycle progression of the intestinal epithelial cell line from piglets (IPEC-J2), to identify the integrin subunits especially expressed in IPEC-J2s, and to analyze the functions of these integrins on IPEC-J2 cell cycle progression and SBA-induced IPEC-J2 cell cycle alteration. The results showed that SBA lowered cell proliferation rate as the cell cycle progression from G0/G1 to S phase (P < 0.05) was inhibited. Moreover, SBA lowered mRNA expression of cell cycle-related gene CDK4, Cyclin E and Cyclin D1 (P < 0.05). We successfully identified integrins ${\alpha}2$, ${\alpha}3$, ${\alpha}6$, ${\beta}1$, and ${\beta}4$ in IPEC-J2s. These five subunits were crucial to maintain normal cell proliferation and cell cycle progression in IPEC-J2s. Restrain of either these five subunits by their inhibitors, lowered cell proliferation rate, and arrested the cells at G0/G1 phase of cell cycle (P < 0.05). Further analysis indicated that integrin ${\alpha}2$, ${\alpha}6$, and ${\beta}1$ were involved in the blocking of G0/G1 phase induced by SBA. In conclusion, these results suggested that SBA lowered the IPEC-J2 cell proliferation rate through the perturbation of cell cycle progression. Furthermore, integrins were important for IPEC-J2 cell cycle progression, and they were involved in the process of SBA-induced cell cycle progression alteration, which provide a basis for further revealing SBA anti-proliferation and anti-nutritional mechanism.
