Low-Power-Adaptive MC-CDMA Receiver Architecture
Mohd. Hasan,Tughrul Arslan,John Thompson 한국전자통신연구원 2007 ETRI Journal Vol.29 No.1
This paper proposes a novel concept of adjusting the hardware size in a multi-carrier code division multiple access (MC-CDMA) receiver in real time as per the channel parameters such as delay spread, signal-to-noise ratio, transmission rate, and Doppler frequency. The fast Fourier transform (FFT) or inverse FFT (IFFT) size in orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM)/MCCDMA transceivers varies from 1024 points to 16 points. Two low-power reconfigurable radix-4 256-point FFT processor architectures are proposed that can also be dynamically configured as 64-point and 16-point as per the channel parameters to prove the concept. By tailoring the clock of the higher FFT stages for longer FFTs and switching to shorter FFTs from longer FFTs, significant power saving is achieved. In addition, two 256 sub-carrier MC-CDMA receiver architectures are proposed which can also be configured for 64 sub-carriers in real time to prove the feasibility of the concept over the whole receiver.

Hasan Mohd Shahnaz,Goh Khean Jin,Yip Hing Wa,Mohamad Siti Mariam,Chan Teik Seng,Chong Kok Ian,Haseeb Amber,Chiu Chee Kidd,Wei Chris Chan Yin,Kwan Mun Keong 대한척추외과학회 2021 Asian Spine Journal Vol.15 No.5
Study Design: Prospective study. Purpose: To investigate the prevalence and the associated risk factors of chronic neuropathic pain symptoms using painDETECT questionnaire in adolescent idiopathic scoliosis (AIS) patients who underwent posterior spinal fusion (PSF) surgery. Overview of Literature: Post-lumbar surgery syndrome is a disease entity that describes neuropathic pain following spinal surgery. However, few studies have investigated the prevalence and risk factors for neuropathic pain in pediatric population undergoing corrective spinal surgery. Methods: Forty AIS patients were recruited. Demographic, preoperative, and postoperative data were recorded. The magnitude and characteristics of postoperative pain were assessed using the painDETECT questionnaire through telephone enquiries at intervals of 2, 6, 12, and 24 weeks. Statistical analyses were followed by Pearson correlation test to determine the relationship between pain scores at 6, 12, and 24 weeks with the risk factors. Results: Based on the painDETECT questionnaire, 90% of the patients had nociceptive pain, and 10% had a possible neuropathic pain component at 2 weeks postoperatively as per a mean painDETECT score of 7.1±4.5. Assessments at 6, 12, and 24 weeks showed that no patients had neuropathic pain with painDETECT scores of 4.4±3.2, 2.9±2.9, and 1.5±2.0, respectively. There was a significant correlation between total postoperative morphine use during 48 hours after the surgery and a tendency to develop neuropathic pain (p=0.022). Conclusions: Chronic neuropathic pain was uncommon in AIS patients who had undergone PSF surgery. Higher opioid consumption will increase the possibility of developing chronic neuropathic pain.
GEOMETRIC INEQUALITIES FOR WARPED PRODUCTS SUBMANIFOLDS IN GENERALIZED COMPLEX SPACE FORMS
Mohd Aquib,Mohd Aslam,Michel Nguiffo Boyom,Mohammad Hasan Shahid Korean Mathematical Society 2023 대한수학회논문집 Vol.38 No.1
In this article, we derived Chen's inequality for warped product bi-slant submanifolds in generalized complex space forms using semisymmetric metric connections and discuss the equality case of the inequality. Further, we discuss non-existence of such minimal immersion. We also provide various applications of the obtained inequalities.
Simulation Assessment and Theoretical Verification of a New Design for Portable Concrete Barriers
Hasan Jasim Mohammed,Muhammad Fauzi Mohd. Zain 대한토목학회 2017 KSCE JOURNAL OF CIVIL ENGINEERING Vol.21 No.3
This paper presents a new portable concrete barrier (NPCB) design that can be placed in areas where vehicles may not enter. The proposed design is fabricated with a new shape, composed of three parts, and equipped with an interlocking connection between adjacent concrete barriers. LS-DYNA computer simulation was performed to assess whether the NPCB is in accordance with the roadside design criteria. The results showed that the new model can effectively contain and redirect collided vehicles as well as lessen the damage of vehicles. The results demonstrated little lateral deflection, which can facilitate an easy bonding between the NPCB and the floor. The occupant compartment did not penetrate, thereby keeping the driver and tenants safe during an accident. Comparison of the NPCB simulation, theoretical and the full-scale test results revealed that the simulation model is accurate and is well within the specification requirements.

Hasan, Tiba Nezar,Shah, Shamsul Azhar,Hassan, Mohd Rohaizat,Safian, Nazarudin,Azhar, Zahir Izuan,Syed Abdul Rahim, Syed Sharizman,Ghazi, Hasanain Faisal Asian Pacific Journal of Cancer Prevention 2015 Asian Pacific journal of cancer prevention Vol.16 No.15
Background: Breast cancer is one of the most common cancers among females worldwide. The aim of this study was to assess the knowledge and practice about breast cancer and its related factors among women in Baghdad city, Iraq. Materials and Methods: A cross-sectional study was conducted among 508 women aged 18 to 55 years from four non-governmental organizations (NGO) in Baghdad city, Iraq. A self-administered questionnaire on breast cancer knowledge and practice was distributed to participants during weekly activity of the NGO. Results: A total of 61.2% of the respondents had poor knowledge, only 30.3% performed breast self-examination (BSE) and 41.8% said that they did not know the technique to perform BSE. Associations between knowledge and marital status and age were significant. For practice, working status, education, age and family income were significant. After controlling for cofounders, the most important contributing factors for poor knowledge among respondents were marital status and not performing BSE, with adjusted odds ratio of 1.6 and 1.8 respectively. Conclusions: Breast cancer knowledge and practice of BSE are poor among women in Baghdad city, Iraq. More promotion regarding breast cancer signs and symptoms and also how to perform BSE should be conducted using media such as television and internet as these constituted the main sources of information for most women in our study.

In this paper, we prove the optimal inequalities for the generalized normalized ${\delta}$-Casorati curvature and the normalized scalar curvature for different submanifolds in generalized (${\kappa},{\mu}$)-space forms. The proof is based on an optimization procedure involving a quadratic polynomial in the components of the second fundamental form. We also characterize the submanifolds on which equalities hold.

Luaibi, Hasan M.,Al-Taweel, Saja S.,Gaaz, Tayser Sumer,Kadhum, Abdul Amir H.,Takriff, Mohd S.,Al-Amiery, Ahmed A. Materials Research Society of Korea 2019 한국재료학회지 Vol.29 No.12
Environmental pollution remains a considerable health risk source all over the world; however, hazards are usually higher in developing countries. Iraq has long been suffering from the problem of pollution and how to treat pollution. Photocatalytic degradation has turned out to be most productive process for dye degradation. In this investigation, Rhodamine B (RhB), dye has been selected for degradation under visible light illumination. To address this issue, we fabricate erbium trioxide nanoparticles (Er2O3/NPs). Erbium trioxide nanoparticles are prepared and utilized for photo-catalytic degradation. The characterization of Er2O3/NPs is described and confirmed by utilizing of XRD (X-ray diffraction) and SEM (Scanning Electron Microscopy). The average size of Er2O3 nanoparticles is observed to be 16.00 nm. Er2O3/NPs is investigated for its ability of photo-catalytic degradation through certain selected parameters such as concentration and time. The methodological results show that the synthesized Er2O3/NPs is a good photo-catalytic for Rhodamine degradation.

In developing countries such as Malaysia, chlorination is a popular and inexpensive technique fordisinfecting water before distribution to consumers. However, the chlorination process results in theformation of low concentrations of toxic trihalomethanes (THMs), which may, over long periods ofexposure, lead to adverse effects in consumers. Thus, these compounds should be prevented fromforming and removed from drinking water and wastewater through either physicochemical or biologicaltechniques. In this paper, an overview of the various technologies for the removal of THM precursors andTHMs is presented. In addition, emerging technology using microbes to effectively biodegrade THMs isalso discussed. Biodegradation technology has the potential to eliminate THM precursors and THMs fromwater and wastewater and has the advantages of being a green technology and being inexpensive tooperate and maintain compared with other physicochemical techniques.
