Optimal Control Problem of Singular Boolean Control Networks

In this paper, the optimal control problem of singular Boolean control networks is considered via semi-tensor product. Using an analogous needle variation, for multi-input case, a necessary condition for the existence of optimal control is provided based on the algebraic form of singular Boolean control networks, and the result is specialized to the single-input case. Then, an algorithm is presented to calculate an optimal control. Illustrative examples, including the single-input case, are given to show the feasibility of the theoretical results.
Vitexicarpin Induces Apoptosis in Human Prostate Carcinoma PC-3 Cells through G2/M Phase Arrest

Vitexicarpin (3', 5-dihydroxy-3, 4', 6, 7-tetramethoxyflavone), a polymethoxyflavone isolated from Viticis Fructus (Vitex rotundifolia Linne fil.), has long been used as an anti-inflammatory herb in traditional Chinese medicine. It has also been reported that vitexicarpin can inhibit the growth of various cancer cells. However, there is no report elucidating its effect on human prostate carcinoma cells. The aim of the present study was to examine the apoptotic induction activity of vitexicarpin on PC-3 cells and molecular mechanisms involved. MTT studies showed that vitexicarpin dose-dependently inhibited growth of PC-3 cells with an $IC_{50}{\sim}28.8{\mu}M$. Hoechst 33258 staining further revealed that vitexicarpin induced apoptotic cell death. The effect of vitexicarpin on PC-3 cells apoptosis was tested using prodium iodide (PI)/Annexin V-FITC double staining and flow cytometry. The results indicated that vitexicarpin induction of apoptotic cell death in PC-3 cells was accompanied by cell cycle arrest in the G2/M phase. Furthermore, our study demonstrated that vitexicarpin induction of PC-3 cell apoptosis was associated with upregulation of the proapoptotic protein Bax, and downregulation of antiapoptotic protein Bcl-2, release of Cytochrome c from mitochondria and decrease in mitochondrial membrane potential. Our findings suggested that vitexicarpin may become a potential leading drug in the therapy of prostate carcinoma.

This study focuses on the role and value of big data marketing in shaping firm competitive advantages and transforming industries, with a particular focus on the film and television (FT) industry. We argue that big data may present myriad possibilities for firms to take hold of growth opportunities and improve their competitive advantages. We specifically explore the role and value of big data, and highlighting the effect of big data on driving firm marketing strategy and further illustrate the usefulness of big data in the FT industry through the cases of US House of Cards, Chinese Tiny Times, and Indian Satyamev Jayate. We provide a more comprehensive review of the big data, demonstrating the importance of exploiting big data marketing in the FT industry. We conclude with the possible practical implications.
TLF: Two-level Filter for Querying Extreme Values in Sensor Networks

Sensor networks have been widely applied for data collection. Due to the energy limitation of the sensor nodes and the most energy consuming data transmission, we should allocate as much work as possible to the sensors, such as data compression and aggregation, to reduce data transmission and save energy. Querying extreme values is a general query type in wireless sensor networks. In this paper, we propose a novel querying method called Two-Level Filter (TLF) for querying extreme values in wireless sensor networks. We first divide the whole sensor network into domains using the Distributed Data Aggregation Model (DDAM). The sensor nodes report their data to the cluster heads using push method. The advantages of two-level filter lie in two aspects. When querying extreme values, the number of pull operations has the lower boundary. And the query results are less affected by the topology changes of the wireless sensor network. Through this method, the sensors preprocess the data to share the burden of the base station and it combines push and pull to be more energy efficient.

Since Taiwan is an endemic area for tuberculosis (TB), differential diagnosis between the intestinal TB and Crohn`s disease is an important issue. The steering committee of Taiwan Society of Inflammatory Bowel Disease (TSIBD) has arranged a seminar accordingly on May 24th, 2014 and the different point of views by gastroenterologist, radiologist, pathologist and infectious dis-ease specialist were suggested to help the proper diagnosis and management of these two diseases. Query Aggregation in Wireless Sensor Networks

Wireless sensor networks have been used more and more widely with the developments of related techniques in telecommunication and computer sciences. While sensor nodes in wireless sensor networks have very limited memory spaces and power. In this paper, we propose a new query aggregation method to preprocess the query predicates. The size of the relational table can be further reduced using the aggregated query predicates. The reduced relational table can be stored on the sensor nodes. This may cause false positive but definitely no false negative. When the required data are sent back to the sink, we can do join operation between the real query predicate and the relational table again, and eliminate the redundant data.

Purpose–The importance of online word of mouth has generated considerable interest among both academics and practitioners. The present study aims to introduce a framework that addresses the factors influencing quick online word of mouth. Specifically, this paper examines the impacts of various motivations of online reviews, which are shaped by different consumer values, on quick online word of mouth. Design/methodology/approach–This study collected survey data from 328 consumers in China and tested the research model using a structural equation approach. Findings - Our results suggest that online review motivations significantly influence the quick online word of mouth among Chinese consumers, which are shaped by consumer values. We conclude that in order to better understand online word of mouth of consumers in the world’s largest emerging market, it might be more beneficial for managers to concentrate on analyzing various motivations that incentivize online consumers to write reviews and the respective consumer values shaping such review motivations. Research implications or Originality–Based on results from a survey sent to online consumers in China, we develop implications for online word of mouth management and research as well as practitioners. One of the most notable contributions of this study is to demonstrate that online review motivations, which are shaped by consumer values, have important impacts on quick online word of mouth. However, different types of online review motivations, which are shaped by different consumer values, exert different effects on quick online word of mouth, suggesting that not all consumer values and online review motivations have the equal effect on quick online word of mouth. We enhance understanding of what drive consumers’ quick online word of mouth, and how consumer values and reviews motivations matter.

Optically active N-benzyl-2-methyl-2H-benzo[b][1,4]oxazin-3(4H)-ones and N-benzyl-2-methyl-2H-benzo[b][1,4]thiazin-3(4H)-ones with potential synthetic and pharmacological interest were prepared via Smiles rearrangement in conventional as well as microwave irradiation conditions in one-pot from inexpensive (S)-2-chloropropionic acid. Most of the compounds displayed good inhibition against Gram positive bacteria and fungi in the antibiotic test.
CASE REPORT : Crohn`s Disease Complicated with Duodenocolic Fistula: A Case Report

Fistula formation is common during the course of Crohn`s disease, whereas duodenocolic fistulas are very rare. The management of internal fistulas in Crohn`s disease is a complex issue. Herein, we report a case of duodenocolic fistula manifested by increasing frequency of diarrhea and loss of body weight. The fistula was diagnosed by upper gastrointestinal tract barium series, magnetic resonance enterography, and panendoscopy and was treated with a right hemicolectomy and Whipple procedure because of the simultaneous occurrence of pancreatic head tumor. Subsequent treatment with adalimumab, azathioprine, and mesalazine was prescribed for the maintenance of disease remission, and the patient was well until 18 months after the surgery.
