      • Automation of Segmentation of MRI Images in the Presence of Intensity Inhomogeneity by the Application of Probabilistic Neural Network

        Manish Dixit,Amit Singh Chauhan,Sanjay Silakari 보안공학연구지원센터 2015 International Journal of Bio-Science and Bio-Techn Vol.7 No.4

This paper presents a different approach by employing probabilistic neural network (PNN) with level set method for segmentation of intensity inhomogeneous magnetic resonance images (MRI). The input image is classified by PNN, and initialise the image with initial zero level set contours. A cascade approach is used in which after processing image by PNN, the output of PNN is fed into Level Set Method (LSM) Algorithm. The LSM is usedto perform the segmentation and to estimate bias field.

Solvent Free N-Heterocyclization of Primary Amines to N-Substituted Azacyclopentanes Using Hydrotalcite as Solid Base Catalyst

Manish Dixit,Manish Mishra,P.A. Joshi,D.O. Shah 대한화학회 2012 Bulletin of the Korean Chemical Society Vol.33 No.5

An ecofriendly catalytic route for selective synthesis of N-substituted azacyclopentanes, nitrogen-containing heterocyclic intermediates for many bioactive compounds, was established by carrying out N-heterocyclization (di N-alkylation) of primary amines with 1,4-dichloro butane (as dialkylating agent) using catalytic amount of hydrotalcite as solid base catalyst. The hydrotalcite was found to be efficient solid base catalyst for di Nalkylation of different primary amines (aniline, benzyl amine, cyclohexyl amine and n-butyl amine) giving 82 to 96% conversion (at optimized reaction condition) of 1,4-dichloro butane and > 99% selectivity of respective N-substituted azacyclopentanes within 30 min. under solvent free condition. The reaction parameters significantly influence the conversion of 1,4-dichloro butane to N-substituted azacyclopentanes. The nature of substituent present on amino group affects the reactivity of amine substrates for di N-alkylation reaction with 1,4-dichloro butane. The 1,4-dichloro butane was found to be highly reactive alkylating agent for di Nalkylation of amines as compared to 1,4-dihydroxy butane. The reusability of the catalyst and its chemical stability in the reaction was demonstrated.

Experimental estimate of Nγ values and corresponding settlements for square footings on finite layer of sand

        Dixit, Manish S.,Patil, Kailas A. Techno-Press 2013 Geomechanics & engineering Vol.5 No.4

Any structure constructed on the earth is supported by the underlying soil. Foundation is an interfacing element between superstructure and the underlying soil that transmits the loads supported by the foundation including its self weight. Foundation design requires evaluation of safe bearing capacity along with both immediate and long term settlements. Weak and compressible soils are subjected to problems related to bearing capacity and settlement. The conventional method of design of footing requires sufficient safety against failure and the settlement must be kept within the allowable limit. These requirements are dependent on the bearing capacity of soil. Thus, the estimation of load carrying capacity of footing is the most important step in the design of foundation. A number of theoretical approaches, in-situ tests and laboratory model tests are available to find out the bearing capacity of footings. The reliability of any theory can be demonstrated by comparing it with the experimental results. Results from laboratory model tests on square footings resting on sand are presented in this paper. The variation of bearing capacity of sand below a model plate footing of square shape with variation in size, depth and the effect of permissible settlement are evaluated. A steel tank of size $900mm{\times}1200mm{\times}1000mm$ is used for conducting model tests. Bearing capacity factor $N_{\gamma}$ is evaluated and is compared with Terzaghi, Meyerhof, Hansen and Vesic's $N_{\gamma}$ values. From the experimental investigations it is found that, as the depth of sand cushion below the footing ($D_{sc}$) increases, ultimate bearing capacity and settlement values show an increasing trend up to a certain depth of sand cushion.

      • An Exhaustive Survey on Nature Inspired Optimization Algorithms

Manish Dixit,Nikita Upadhyay,Sanjay Silakari 보안공학연구지원센터 2015 International Journal of Software Engineering and Vol.9 No.4

Human being are greatly inspired by nature. Nature has the ability to solve very complex problems in its own distinctive way. The problems around us are becoming more and more complex in the real time and at the same instance our mother nature is guiding us to solve these natural problems. Nature gives some of the logical and effective ways to find solution to these problems. Nature acts as an optimizer for solving the complex problems. In this paper, the algorithms which are discussed imitate the processes running in nature. And due to this these process are named as “Nature Inspired Algorithms”. The algorithms inspired from human body and its working and the algorithms inspired from the working of groups of social agents like ants, bees, and insects are the two classes of solving such Problems. This emerging new era is highly unexplored young for the research. This paper proposes the high scope for the development of new, better and efficient techniques and application in this area.

Mahendra PS Kuber,Manish Dixit 보안공학연구지원센터 2014 International Journal of Signal Processing, Image Vol.7 No.5

The aim of image enhancement is to or to provide ‘better’ input for other improve the interpretability or perception of information in images for human viewing automated image processing techniques. Various Histogram Equalization techniques like CHE, GHE, BBHE, DSIHE, RMSHE and Multi-HE techniques are used for processing the image input to enhance its output. This paper provides a review over the modification of the brightness preserving dynamic histogram equalization technique to improve its brightness preserving and contrast enhancement abilities while reducing its computational complexity. There are many modified technique related to brightness preserving dynamic Histogram Equalization that uses statistics of digital images for their representation and processing are discussed here. Representation and processing of images in the spatial domain enables the technique to handle the inexactness of gray level values in a better way, resulting in improved performance. This algorithm enhances image contrast as well as preserves the brightness very effectively. Some images are not available to good quality, so these algorithms are used for image enhancement to improve the quality of the image.
