      • Forecasting Volatility In Indian Agri‐Commodities Market

        S. Mahalakshmi,G. Naresh,S. Thiyagarajan 사람과세계경영학회 2015 Global Business and Finance Review Vol.20 No.1

The market participants always wonder the use of agriculture futures markets to mitigate risk, as the trading in agricultural commodity not only leads to increasing exposure to external shocks but also raises the uncertainty about the future price movements. The farmers and the consumers generally disfavor the volatility in food markets and consider it as a serious concern; whereas the speculators favor such price fluctuations to profit by predicting which direction prices are headed. Generally such trading activity has an irrational component translated into prices. The unpredictability of food prices is a cause for concern because of the adverse effects it has on the producers as well as the consumers. The agricultural commodity prices all around the world have been substantially sensitive to the movements of macroeconomic indicators in this century. In India, the Dhaanya highlights the importance of agriculture and provides a reliable benchmark for the traded Agri‐commodities. Today, the Investors all over the world consider Agri‐commodities as one of the major asset class and the other indicators like Nifty market index and the Rupee Dollar (US) exchange rate have major influence on the prices of Dhaanya (Mahalakshmi, et.al., 2012 a, b & c). To gauge this volatility, GARCH class of models is the most appropriate model to estimate the volatility of the returns of groups of stocks with large number of observations. The analysis of ARCH and GARCH models and their many extensions catered many theories of asset pricing and portfolio analysis.

Non-Isothermal Crystallization and Degradation Kinetic Studies of Synthesized Mo-TG end Capped Poly(ε-Caprolactone)

        Sehar Mahalakshmi,Thangevel Alagesan,Vellaichamy Parthasarathy,Ramasamy Anbarasan 한국고분자학회 2019 Macromolecular Research Vol.27 No.4

The molybdenum thioglycolate (Mo-TG) end capped poly(ε-caprolactone) (PCL) was prepared in the presence of novel Mo-TG nanohybrid initiator by ring opening polymerization (ROP) technique. The structural analysis was carried out by FTIR, 1H and 13C NMR techniques for the synthesized PCL. The particle size of the end capped Mo-TG nano hybrid in the PCL matrix was analysed by HRTEM. The morphology, surface roughness and average surface roughness of the polymer sample were investigated by AFM. The geometry of the nucleated crystals of PCL was examined using polarized optical microscopy (POM). The crystallization and thermal history of the sample under non-isothermal condition were assessed by DSC and TGA. The morphology of the nucleated crystals was analysed theoretically with the help of kinetic models for Mo-TG end capped PCL under non-isothermal crystallization condition. The kinetic parameters associated with crystallization and degradation processes of PCL were also determined using various kinetic models.

An efficient probabilists Hermite wavelet method for estimating the concentration of Species in Porous Catalysts

M.Mahalakshmi,Dr.G.Hariharan 장전수학회 2016 Proceedings of the Jangjeon mathematical society Vol.19 No.2

Wavelet transform is a recently developed mathematical tool in applied mathematics. In this paper, a mathematical model by Hayes et al. [1] of porous the concentration of species arising from enzyme kinetics is discussed. The proposed model involves the nonlinear steady state reaction diusion type. The Hermite Wavelet Method (HWM) is employed to obtain the analytical solution for non-linear reaction-diffuusion equation. The proposed method is a powerful and easy to use analytical tool for linear and non-linear problems. To the best our knowledge, until there is no rigorous Probabilists Hermite poly- nomials based solutions has been reported for the proposed model. Numerical applications are given to demonstrate the validity and applicability of the pro- posed method.

Multilevel Precision-Based Rational Design of Chemical Inhibitors Targeting the Hydrophobic Cleft of Toxoplasma gondii Apical Membrane Antigen 1 (AMA1)

        Umashankar Vetrivel,Shalini Muralikumar,Mahalakshmi B,Lily Therese K,Madhavan HN,Mohamed Alameen,Indhuja Thirumudi 한국유전체학회 2016 Genomics & informatics Vol.14 No.2

Toxoplasma gondii is an intracellular Apicomplexan parasite and a causative agent of toxoplasmosis in human. It causes encephalitis, uveitis, chorioretinitis, and congenital infection. T. gondii invades the host cell by forming a moving junction (MJ) complex. This complex formation is initiated by intermolecular interactions between the two secretory parasitic proteins—namely, apical membrane antigen 1 (AMA1) and rhoptry neck protein 2 (RON2) and is critically essential for the host invasion process. By this study, we propose two potential leads, NSC95522 and NSC179676 that can efficiently target the AMA1 hydrophobic cleft, which is a hotspot for targeting MJ complex formation. The proposed leads are the result of an exhaustive conformational search-based virtual screen with multilevel precision scoring of the docking affinities. These two compounds surpassed all the precision levels of docking and also the stringent post docking and cumulative molecular dynamics evaluations. Moreover, the backbone flexibility of hotspot residues in the hydrophobic cleft, which has been previously reported to be essential for accommodative binding of RON2 to AMA1, was also highly perturbed by these compounds. Furthermore, binding free energy calculations of these two compounds also revealed a significant affinity to AMA1. Machine learning approaches also predicted these two compounds to possess more relevant activities. Hence, these two leads, NSC95522 and NSC179676, may prove to be potential inhibitors targeting AMA1-RON2 complex formation towards combating toxoplasmosis.

Establishment of in vitro Root Cultures and Analysis of Secondary Metabolites in Indian Ginseng - Withania somnifera

        Neha G. Wasnik,Mahalakshmi. Muthusamy,Savitha Chellappan,Veena Vaidhyanathan,Ramakrishna Pulla,Kalaiselvi Senthil,양덕춘 한국자원식물학회 2009 한국자원식물학회지 Vol.22 No.6

Adventitious root culture was established in the Jawahar variety of Withania somnifera using MS basal medium supplemented with 0.5 (mg/l) IAA and 2.0 (mg/l) IBA. Root tips from germinated seedlings, MS0 maintained plants and adventitious roots were maintained in suspension medium (1/2 MS basal medium supplemented with 3% sucrose) for a period of 1 to 6 months. The weight gain in roots was noted and the withanolides were extracted from the dry roots using solvents petroleum ether, 50% ethanol and chloroform. The withanolides in the chloroform fractions of all root samples analyzed were compared using thin layer chromatographic analysis. Withanolide content in adventitious root sample was found to be superior compared to other roots at any given point of time during the 6month growth period.HPLC analysis of in vitro adventitious roots showed the presence of a new compound.

A NUMERICAL STUDY ON MHD NATURAL CONVECTIVE HEAT TRANSFER IN AN AG-WATER NANOFLUID FILLED ENCLOSURE WITH CENTER HEATER

        N. NITHYADEVI,T. MAHALAKSHMI 한국산업응용수학회 2017 Journal of the Korean Society for Industrial and A Vol.21 No.4

The natural convective nanofluid flow and heat transfer inside a square enclosure with a center heater in the presence of magnetic field has been studied numerically. The vertical walls of the enclosure are cold and the top wall is adiabatic while the bottom wall is considered with constant heat source. The governing differential equations are solved by using a finite volume method based on SIMPLE algorithm. The parametric study is performed to analyze the effect of different lengths of center heater, Hartmann numbers and Rayleigh numbers. The heater effectiveness and temperature distribution are examined. The effect of all pertinent parameters on streamlines, isotherms, velocity profiles and average Nusselt numbers are presented. It is found that heat transfer increases with the increase of heater length, whereas it decreases with the increase of magnetic field effect. Furthermore, it is found that the value of Nusselt number depends strongly upon the Hartmann number for the increasing values of Rayleigh number.

A case of treatment-induced neuropathy in an adolescent with type 1 diabetes

        Niranjana Varadharaju,Dhivyalakshmi Jeevarathnam,Mahalakshmi Rajan,Vinoth Ponnurangam Nagarajan,Saji James 대한소아내분비학회 2019 Annals of Pediatirc Endocrinology & Metabolism Vol.24 No.3

Treatment-induced neuropathy (TIN) in diabetes is an acute and painful yet completely reversible small fiber neuropathy precipitated by a rapid improvement in glycemic control. TIN is rare in children. A 16-year-old girl developed symmetrical painful neuropathy of the foot, autonomic neuropathy, and retinopathy 5 weeks after the diagnosis of type 1 diabetes. All causative workups were negative except for a drop-in hemoglobin A1c (HbA1c) from 17.4% to 7%, which fit with a diagnosis of TIN. Following symptomatic management, her neuropathy and retinopathy completely resolved in 2 months. Currently, she is 18 years old and doing well (HbA1c, 7.4%) without any recurrence of TIN. TIN should be suspected in any child presenting with recent-onset type 1 diabetes and acute onset neuropathy. Our case represents an unreported scenario of the rapid progression in TIN. Awareness among clinicians about this rare but completely reversible condition is necessary to ensure proper management and adherence to glycemic control.

Co-Normal Product For Intuitionistic AntiFuzzy Graphs

        K. Kalaiarasi,L. Mahalakshmi,Nasreen Kausar,A. B. M. Saiful Islam 한국지능시스템학회 2023 INTERNATIONAL JOURNAL of FUZZY LOGIC and INTELLIGE Vol.23 No.1

This study introduces and analyzes the conormal product of intuitionistic anti-fuzzy graphs (IAFGs) and analyzes certain fundamental theorems and applications. Further, new notions on complete and regular IAFGs were introduced, and the conormal product operation was applied to these IAFGs. We showed that the conormal product of two IAFGs could be used and analyzed important results showing that the conormal product of complete, regular, and strong IAFGs is an IAFG.
