The purpose of this study is to develop the microneedle using biodegradable and biocompatible polymer and to pioneer the new route of drug delivery through the research to apply the most desirable administration form of small molecules, peptides, proteins, genes, biological products including vaccines. Various biocompatible microneedles were manufactured. To apply drug to microneedle, drug formulation using ethylene vinyl acetate patch or polyacryl acid gel was developed. Drug permeation into rat skin based on the application method of patch or gel with microneedle was studied using Franz diffusion cell system. In vitro drug permeation results showed that the permeation by the application of hollow microneedle was not increased compared with solid microneedle. When G60 or G60*2 microneedle was used, the permeated amount of calcein was increased compared to when solid microneedle was used. The permeated amount of lidocaine HCl in 12 hr was increased when microneedle was used was increased. Skin irritation followed by microneedle showed there was little difference in the decrease of redness after microneedle application based on application time.

Purpose: This study aimed to assess needs of training programs for APN practice courses and continuing education programs for APNs to provide baseline data to improve APN education and practice. Methods: A total of 98 questionnaires were distributed to professors in 38 nursing institutions and 64 (65.3%) were returned. Data collection was performed in November and December, 2007 through email. Results: Professors in charge of geriatric and home care nurse practitioner programs constituted 43.7% of the study participants. Forty-one percent answered that they were satisfied with the practice programs they currently have operated, while 36.5% responded to have difficulty in appointment of institutions for practice programs and 56.3% had problems in assignment of preceptorship. In case of developing training programs for APN practice courses, 58.7% answered that they are willing to participate, and 90.6% felt needs for development of continuing education programs for APNs. Regarding liability insurance for APN students, only 11.5% provided insurance policy. Conclusion: The study results indicated that standardized training programs are needed to assure quality of APN education, and continuing education programs are required to provide opportunities for APNs to improve competencies.

Purpose: Emerging evidence has suggested that prior or concurrent antibiotic (ATB) use may be associated with a poor response to immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICIs) in patients with some solid tumors. This study examined the effects of ATB use on the oncological outcomes of patients receiving ICIs for mUC. Materials and Methods: Patients receiving ICIs for mUC between 2018 and 2020 were assessed retrospectively. Those with over three cycles of atezolizumab or pembrolizumab were included. ATB use, defined as ≥ three days within 60 days before or three months after ICI administration, was compared between groups for oncological outcomes. Results: Thirty-one patients were examined. The ATB-use and no-ATB-use groups consisted of 15 (48.4%) and 16 patients (51.6%), respectively. The ATB-use group showed a lower disease control rate (56.3% vs. 13.3%, p=0.023) than the no-ATB-use group. The objective response rate in the ATB-use group was lower than the no-ATB-use group, but the difference was statistically insignificant (43.7% vs. 13.3%, p=0.113). The ATB-use group had shorter progression-free survival (median three vs. six months, log-rank p=0.045) and shorter overall survival (median three vs. 14 months, log-rank p=0.023) than the no-ATB-use group. The most commonly used antibiotics were fluoroquinolones (46.7%), cephalosporins (40.0%), non-cephalosporin beta-lactams (6.7%), and nitrofurantoin (6.7%). Conclusions: ATB may be associated with poorer oncological outcomes in patients with mUC who received ICI therapy. Hence, further research will be needed to understand the relationship between the modulation of ATB-related dysbiosis and gut microbiota composition with the oncological outcomes in patients with mUC.
강릉 연안 인공어초 시설구와 비시설구의 어류 종조성 비교

To comparison of species composition of fish between the artificial reefs and non-artificial reefs in coastal waters off Gangneung. We set the fish trammel nets and pot nets. During the studying period, In the artificial reefs, a total of 452 fishes were sampled and classified into 38 species, 8 families, and 23 orders, the dominant species were Hexagrammos otakii (10.0%), Ditrema temminckii (7.3%), H. agrammus (7.1%), Sebastes schlegelii (6.7%), Neoditrema ransonnetii (5.5%). While in the non-artificial reefs, a total of 233 fishes 32 species representing 7 families in 19 orders were collected. In the nonartificial reefs dominant species were Glyptocephalus stelleri (12.0%), Pleuronectes herzensteini (10.7%), Kareius bicoloratus (9.9%), Hippoglossoides pinetorum (8.6%), Pleuronectes punctatissima (7.7%). In the artificial reefs, the dominance index was the highest in February (D=0.33), the lowest August (D=0.16) and November (D=0.16). The dominance index of the non-artificial reefs was the highest in February (D=0.29) and the lowest in August (D=0.20).

In order to elucidate the effect of heme compounds on lipid oxidation in roasted and/or reheated mackerel and pacific saury, changes in myoglobin, metmyoglobin, total iron, nonheme iron and heme iron content were measured. Throughout the steps of roasting, heating and reheating, myoglobin content was decreased more rapidly roasted at 180℃ for 20 min in fillet samples than those roasted at 200℃ for 15min or 220℃ for 10min. When the skinless samples were roasted at 180℃ for 20 min, about 38% of myoglobin in raw meat were remained, The skinless fillet roasted at the lower temperature resulted the higher level of metmyoglobin due to the reduced myoglobin. Regardless of roasted temperature and time, total iron content was retained the level of raw meat throughout processing, 2 times of nonheme iron content was noted in the skinless fillet samples roasted at 180℃ for 20 min. All samples, heme iron content was decreased much lower by roasted temperature and in absence of skin on fillet. It was decreased about 33% when roasted at 180℃ for 20 min in the skinless fillet in case of pacific saucy.
Characterization of CBF/DREB1 Gene Family in Brassica rapa

The C-repeat/dehydration-responsive element binding transcription factors (CBF/DREBs) are involved in an important pathway for abiotic stress-response in plants. We have identified CBF/DREB1 gene family from Brassica rapa whole genome sequence and designated them as BrDREB1s. They contain conserved nucleus localization signal, AP2/EREBP domain, and CBF/DREB1 signature, as other known plant CBF/DREB1s. By comparative genomics, we found that nine of ten BrDREB1 genes were present in seven macro-synteny blocks co-linear to four Arabidopsis counterpart blocks and also genomic organizations of their flanking regions were very similar to those for co-linear Arabidopsis CBF/DREB1 genes. In particular, three genes, BrDREB1A, BrDREB1B1, and BrDREB1C1, were closely located within a 59 kb genomic sequence, which was similar to that of their Arabidopsis counterpart genes. However, the genomic regions of those BrDREB1 genes contained additional sequences, compared to their co-linear regions in A. thaliana. The expression of BrDREB1 genes under abiotic stresses were examined by searching microarray database and by RT-PCR analysis. All of eight genes tested were highly up-regulated during cold treatment and some of them were also responsive to salt, drought, and ABA treatment. Taken together, these results indicate that CBF/DREB1-mediated stress signaling pathway is also functioning in B. rapa. On the other hand, differences in genomic organization and gene number for CBF/DREB1 are thought to cause different response to stress between B. rapa and A. thaliana. In this presentation, we will introduce more detailed results for CBF/DREB1 gene family in B. rapa.

<P>Three-dimensional hybrid nanostructures (i.e., Te 'nanobranches' on a Si 'nanotrunk' or Te 'nanoleaves' on a Si 'nanotrunk') were synthesized by combining the gold-assisted chemical etching of Si to form Si 'nanotrunks' and the galvanic displacement of Si to form Te 'nanobranches' or 'nanoleaves.' By adjusting the composition of the electrolyte used for the galvanic displacement reaction, the shape of the Te nanostructures could be changed from nanoleaves to nanobranches. The Si nanotrunks with Te nanobranches showed stronger luminescent emission in the visible region, with their Raman spectrum having a higher wave number, owing to their grain size being larger. This suggested that the optical and photoelectrochemical properties of Te-Si hybrid nanostructures depend on their shape and size. Using this approach, it should be possible to fabricate various hierarchical nanostructures for use in photoelectronic and photoelectrochemical devices.</P>
