Carcass Fat-free Lean Gain of Chinese Growing-finishing Pigs Reared on Commercial Farms
Yang, Libin,Li, Defa,Qiao, Shiyan,Gong, Limin,Zhang, Defu Asian Australasian Association of Animal Productio 2002 Animal Bioscience Vol.15 No.10
Five regions and 258 pigs were selected for this study: North (Beijing), Central (Wuhan), South (Guangzhou), Southwest (Chongqing), Northeast (Harbin). Five typical genetics of growing-finishing pig were selected: Landrace${\times}$Large White${\times}$Beijing Black, Duroc${\times}$Landrace${\times}$Large White, Duroc${\times}$Large White${\times}$Landrace, Landrace${\times}$Rongchang, Landrace${\times}$Harbin White, respectively at each sites. The basal diet was a corn-soybean meal containing sufficient nutrients to meet requirements. Carcass fat-free lean gain was determined by dissecting and analyzing chemical composition of the carcass. Cubic function fitted lean moistures to live weights better than other functions. Exponential function fitted lean lipids to live weights equally to allometric function. Carcass fat-free lean gain of Duroc${\times}$Large White${\times}$Landrace, Landrace${\times}$Large White${\times}$Beijing Black, Duroc${\times}$Landrace${\times}$Large White, Landrace${\times}$Harbin White, Landrace${\times}$Rongchang from 20 to 100 kg of average body weight was 259 g/d, 261 g/d, 311 g/d, 220 g/d, 200 g/d, respectively. All are lower than intermediate fat-free lean gain in NRC (1998).

Vietacheta, a cricket genus found across northern and southern Vietnam, is a rare taxon lacking any additional species discovered after the genus was established. This genus possesses features found across many other genera. Its general appearance is the same as Itaropsis; genitalia ectoparamere is very similar to Phonarellus; inner tympanum is absent, and particularly, the metanotum is armed with several hairs. Now, we found the first species of Vietacheta in China. The new species, Vietacheta harpophylla sp. nov., is close to Vietacheta aquila Gorochov, 1992, but they are different in details of anal plate, epiphallus, and ectoparamere. A description and illustration of this new species, a revision of other Vietacheta, and a key to the genus are provided.
Rocaglamide-A Potentiates Osteoblast Differentiation by Inhibiting NF-κB Signaling
Aiguo Li,Libin Yang,Xiaolin Geng,Xingmei Peng,Tan Lu,Yanjun Deng,Yuzheng Dong 한국분자세포생물학회 2015 Molecules and cells Vol.38 No.11
Rheumatoid arthritis is a chronic inflammatory disease that leads to bone and cartilage erosion. The inhibition of osteoblast differentiation by the inflammatory factor TNF-α is critical for the pathogenesis of rheumatoid arthritis. To modulate TNF-α mediated inhibition of osteoblast differentiation is required to improve therapeutic efficacy of rheumatoid arthritis. Here, we explored the potential role of rocaglamide-A, a component of Aglaia plant, in osteoblast differentiation. Rocaglamide-A prevented TNF-α mediated inhibition of osteoblast differentiation, and promoted osteoblast differentiation directly,in both C2C12 and primary mesenchymal stromal cells. Mechanistically, Rocaglamide- A inhibited the phosphorylation of NF-κB component p65 protein and the accumulation of p65 in nucleus, which resulted in the diminished NF-κB responsible transcriptional activity. Oppositely, overexpression of p65 reversed rocaglamide-A’s protective effects on osteoblast differentiation. Collectively, rocaglamide-A protected and stimulated osteoblast differentiation via blocking NF-κB pathway. It suggests that rocaglamide-A may be a good candidate to develop as therapeutic drug for rheumatoid arthritis associated bone loss diseases.

Rheumatoid arthritis is a chronic inflammatory disease that leads to bone and cartilage erosion. The inhibition of osteoblast differentiation by the inflammatory factor TNF-${\alpha}$ is critical for the pathogenesis of rheumatoid arthritis. To modulate TNF-${\alpha}$ mediated inhibition of osteoblast differentiation is required to improve therapeutic efficacy of rheumatoid arthritis. Here, we explored the potential role of rocaglamide-A, a component of Aglaia plant, in osteoblast differentiation. Rocaglamide-A prevented TNF-${\alpha}$ mediated inhibition of osteoblast differentiation, and promoted osteoblast differentiation directly, in both C2C12 and primary mesenchymal stromal cells. Mechanistically, Rocaglamide-A inhibited the phosphorylation of NF-${\kappa}B$ component p65 protein and the accumulation of p65 in nucleus, which resulted in the diminished NF-${\kappa}B$ responsible transcriptional activity. Oppositely, overexpression of p65 reversed rocaglamide-A's protective effects on osteoblast differentiation. Collectively, rocaglamide-A protected and stimulated osteoblast differentiation via blocking NF-${\kappa}B$ pathway. Influence of thermal effect on dynamic behavior of high-speed dry hobbing motorized spindle system

This paper is devoted to investigating the influence of thermal effect on the dynamic behavior of a motorized spindle system in high-speed dry hobbing machine tool. First, the thermal induced preloads of combined bearings were calculated by characterizing the uneven temperature rise under operational condition. Subsequently, the influence relationship of thermal induced preload on the stiffness of combined bearings was studied. The change rules of the dynamic behavior of motorized spindle system with respect to the temperature rise were analyzed by coupling bearing stiffness and spindle dynamic models. Finally, experimental measurements on bearing temperature rise and spindle dynamic behavior were implemented for validation. The results indicate that thermal effects have a significant impact on the stiffness of combined bearings and hence the operating stability of high-speed dry hobbing motorized spindle system. This study can provide a reference for thermal dynamic optimization of motorized spindle system for high performance high-speed dry hobbing.

In this study we aimed to develop novel ZnO-NP/chitosan/β-glycerophosphate (ZnO-NP/CS/β-GP) antibacterial hydrogels for biomedical applications. According to the mass fraction ratio of ZnO-NPs to chitosan, mixtures of 1, 3, and 5% ZnO-NPs/CS/β-GP were prepared. Using the test-tube inversion method, scanning electron microscopy and Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy, the influence of ZnO-NPs on gelation time, chemical composition, and cross-sectional microstructures were evaluated. Adding ZnO-NPs significantly improved the hydrogel's antibacterial activity as determined by bacteriostatic zone and colony counting. The hydrogel's bacteriostatic mechanism was investigated using live/dead fluorescent staining and scanning electron microscopy. In addition, crystal violet staining and MTT assay demonstrated that ZnO-NPs/CS/β-GP exhibited good antibacterial activity in inhibiting the formation of biofilms and eradicating existing biofilms. CCK-8 and live/dead cell staining methods revealed that the cell viability of gingival fibroblasts (L929) cocultured with hydrogel in each group was above 90% after 24, 48, and 72 h. These results suggest that ZnO-NPs improve the temperature sensitivity and bacteriostatic performance of chitosan/β-glycerophosphate (CS/β-GP), which could be injected into the periodontal pocket in solution form and quickly transformed into hydrogel adhesion on the gingiva, allowing for a straightforward and convenient procedure. In conclusion, ZnO-NP/CS/β-GP thermosensitive hydrogels could be expected to be utilized as adjuvant drugs for clinical prevention and treatment of peri-implant inflammation.
