We present preliminary observations of the field-aligned-irregularities (FAIs) in the E and F regions during the solar minimum (2009 - 2010) using the 40.8 MHz coherent backscatter radar at Daejeon (36.18ºN, 127.14ºE, 26.7ºN dip latitude) in South Korea. The radar, which consists of 24 Yagi antennas, observes the FAIs using a single beam with a peak power of 24 kW. The radar has been continuously operated since December 2009. Depending on the manner of occurrence of the backscatter echoes, the E-region echoes are largely divided into two types: quasi-periodic (QP) and continuous echoes. Our observations show that the QP echoes occur frequently above an altitude of 105 km in the post-sunset period and continuous echoes occur preferentially around an altitude of 105 km in the post-sunrise period. QP echoes appear as striated discrete echoes for a period of about 10 - 20 min. The QP-type echoes occur more frequently than the continuoustype echoes do and the echo intensity of the QP type is stronger than that of the continuous type. In the F region, the FAIs occur at night at an altitude interval of 250 - 450 km. As time proceeds, the occurrence height of the FAIs gradually increases until early in the morning and then decreases. The duration of the F-region FAIs is typically a few hours at night, although, in rare cases, FAIs persist throughout the night or appear even after sunrise. We discuss the similarities and differences of the FAIs observed by the Daejeon radar in comparison with other radar observations.

The reaction of 2, 6-dichoroquinoxaline with m-chloroperbenzoic acid gave 2, 6-dichloroquinoxaline 4-oxide, whose reaction with sodium azide provided 7-chlorotetrazolo[1, 5-a]quinoxaline 5-oxide and not the isomeric azide. The structures of the synthesized compounds were confirmed on the basis of IR, ¹H-NMR, elemental analysis and mass spectral data.

The magnetostrictive actuator, with its unique characteristics such as high force, stiffness, large strain is potentially a new class actuator application such as fast tool servo, vibration control applications. But the performance of magnetostrictive actuator is highly dependent on preload, magnetic field intensity and thermal expansion. This paper presents the development of a magnetostrictive actuator and an experimental and analytical investigation of the temperature effect on the displacement characteristics of the developed magnetostrictive actuator. When the current applied to the excitation coil to supply the magnetic field to the magnetostrictive material, heat which effects thermal expansion is produced. Precision position control of magnetostrictive actuator is difficult caused by thermal strain. Therefore, magnetostrictive actuator is need of cooling system. In this paper, the development of a magnetostrictive actuator with built-in air cooling system which use compressed cold air and proper temperature and velocity of compressed cold air was studied by thermal analysis. Simulation results were verified by experiment, tracking performance improvement was achieved by eliminating thermal expansion.

In electrolysis smelting plants that using high DC current, the bus bar is most important facility for delivering the high current. The copper made bus bar is widely used for various advantages as good electrical and thermal conductivity, resonable malleability, ductility, and not rust easily. However, when high current in copper bus bar, temperature rises and maximum allowable current capacity is restricted by temperature of bus bar. In this paper, we investigated temperature variation of copper bus bar by putting cooling water channel imposed to bus bar construction. For the validity, various simulations were carried out.

Ti based nanocomposite films including V, Si and Nb (Ti-Me-N, Me=V, Si and Nb) were fabricated by hybrid physical vapor deposition (PVD) method consisting of unbalanced magnetron (UBM) sputtering and arc ion plating (AIP). The pure Ti target was used for arc ion plating and other metal targets (V, Si and Nb) were used for sputtering process at a gas mixture of Ar/N2 atmosphere. Mostly all of the films were grown with textured TiN (111) plane except the Si doped Ti-Si-N film which has strong (200) peak. The microhardness of each film was measured using the nanoindentation method. The minimum value of removal rate (0.5×10<SUP>?15</SUP> ㎡/N) was found at Nb doped Ti-Nb-N film which was composed of Ti-N and Nb-N nanoparticles with small amount of amorphous phases.
관세행정상 품목분류(HS)제도의 위험요인에 관한 실증적 연구

HS is a logical and legal system that categorizes commodities into different codes according to the International Convention on the Harmonized Commodity Description and Coding System. The system is used as a global standard and a common language in international trade by over 190 countries throughout the world with the object of standardizing tariffs, the certificate of origin, trade statistics, and transportation. Therefore, without complete understanding of HS, we may not be able to deal with commercial disputes effectively in the age of unlimited competition, despite it is quite complex and difficult to comprehend knowledge of social sciences and natural sciences that is necessary for commodity classification. Thus, in order to examine the effects of relevant factors on HS and risk management, we conducted a questionnaire survey and a technical statistics analysis, based upon which an empirical analysis was carried out on the performance of the system throughout the process of Planning, Doing, and Seeing, and examined the relation between identified key factors and the performance of the system. According to the results of the empirical analysis of the formation, operation, assessment, and performance of the system, system formation appeared to have a positive effect on system operation, system operation on system assessment, and system assessment on system performance. The present study summarized the results of the empirical analysis on the formation of HS, its operation, the assessment of its results, and satisfaction with its performance, derived risk factors in each stage, suggested how to use the results of this research, and presented the implications of the analysis results for those in relevant academic and administrative areas.
