Vietnamese Health Care Providers' Preferences Regarding Recommendation of HPV Vaccines
Asiedu, Gladys B,Breitkopf, Carmen Radecki,Kremers, Walter K,Ngo, Quang V,Nguyen, Nguyen V,Barenberg, Benjamin J,Tran, Vinh D,Dinh, Tri A Asian Pacific Journal of Cancer Prevention 2015 Asian Pacific journal of cancer prevention Vol.16 No.12
Physician recommendation is an important predictor of HPV vaccine acceptance; however, physician willingness and preferences regarding HPV vaccination may be influenced by factors including patient age, vaccine type, and cost. A cross-sectional survey was administered to a convenience sample of health care providers in Da Nang, Vietnam, to evaluate awareness, perceptions about HPV and HPV vaccines, and willingness to vaccinate a female patient. Willingness to vaccinate was evaluated using a full-factorial presentation of scenarios featuring the following factors: vaccine cost (free vs 1,000,000 VND), patient age (12, 16, or 22 years), and HPV vaccine type (bivalent vs quadrivalent). Responses from 244 providers were analyzed; providers had a mean age of $34{\pm}11.9$ years; a majority were female, married, and had children of their own. Thirty-six percent specialized in obstetrics/gynecology and 24% were providers in family medicine. Of the three factors considered in conjoint analysis, vaccine cost was the most important factor in willingness to vaccinate, followed by patient age, and vaccine type. The most favorable scenario for vaccinating a female patient was when the vaccine was free, the patient was 22 years of age, and the HPV4 vaccine was described. In multivariable analysis, older age, being a physician, being married, and having children were all associated with increased willingness to recommend HPV vaccination (p<0.05). Provider willingness is an important aspect of successful HPV vaccination programs; identifying preferences and biases in recommendation patterns will highlight potential areas for education and intervention.
Of Knowledge and Truth: Anglo-Indian Society in A Passage to India
Deborah Kremer 동국대학교 영어권문화연구소 2022 영어권문화연구 Vol.15 No.2
This paper seeks to analyze the relationship between cultural identity, misogyny, and racism in E. M. Forster's A Passage to India. Anglo-Indian society in the novel is analyzed through Edward Said's Orientalism and Stuart Hall's concept of identity formation as a dynamic process to establish the imbalanced power dynamics between gender and race in the text. In doing so, this paper explores how false notions of knowledge regarding Indians and women lead to a sense of superiority for the British characters, which influences the position of both groups within the social hierarchy of British India. It illustrates the complexity of British identity and its effects on the colonial structure, echoing the novel's message that progressive change cannot happen unless this structure is dismantled.
A Different Approach to Feminism : Ruth Bader Ginsburg’s Rhetoric
Deborah Kremer 한국수사학회 2021 수사학 Vol.- No.40
This paper analyses Ruth Bader Ginsburg’s work from a feminist rhetoric perspective, through the two main approaches of feminist rhetoric as laid out by Karlyn Kohrs Campbell and Barbara Biesecker. The former, in a humanistic approach, argues that more opportunities for women to speak publicly would enable them to gain rhetorical agency, whereas the latter, in a deconstructionist approach, argues that a shift in social power relations is necessary. This paper then uses two of Justice Ginsburg’s legal cases to position her rhetoric in the middle of this debate and explores in how far it conforms to or deviates from Campbell’s and Biesecker’s ideas. It demonstrates how Ruth Bader Ginsburg created both opportunities for women to speak publicly, as well as contribute to the change of certain social power relations, finding a middle way that was appropriate for her time and situation. Through the analysis of the Frontiero v Richardson case, the results and potential limitations she was facing in this unique approach are explored and brief attention is given to the impact her work has had on the legal system in the United States.

We have been exploring routes and systems alternative to the oxocuprates and the oxomanganates and searched for super-conductivity and large magnetoresistance in rare earth compounds, particularly, in the family of layered metallic rare earth halidesand rare earth carbides. Here we review the superconducting properties of YC2,La2C3, and RE2C2X2 (RE¼ Y, La; X¼ Cl, Br, I) aswell as some recent results of the large magnetoresistance eect in the ferromagnet GdI2.
