In this paper a time reduction algorithm for large vocabulary speech recognition system has been studied. TDNN(Time Delay Neural Network) was used to classify vowel using phonetical fetures. To increase performance of vowel classification, modular TDNN architecture associated with 2 states input layer has been suggested.

$Potentilla$ $chinensis$ has been widely used as a traditional medicine for the treatment of many diseases. In macrophages, nitric oxide (NO) released as an inflammatory mediator and has been proposed an important modulator of many pathophysiological conditions. In the present study, we investigated the inhibitory effects of methanol extracts of $P.$ $chinensis$ (PCM) on NO production in mouse (C57BL/6) peritoneal macrophages. PCM suppressed IFN-${\gamma}$ and LPS-induced NO production independent of iNOS expression. Interestingly, iNOS enzyme activity was reduced by PCM treatment. On the contrary to iNOS, cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2) expression was attenuated by PCM significantly. PCM also demonstrated potent radical scavenging activity and reducing power. The present results indicate that PCM's inhibitory action on the NO production is not due to attenuation of iNOS expression but direct scavenging of NO radical. These results suggest that PCM may be beneficial in diseases which related to oxidative stress-mediated inflammatory disorders such as rheumatoid arthritis.
Region-of-Interest Extraction based on A Measure of Camera Focus

In this paper, an automatic method for extracting regions of interest (ROI) based on the camera focus measure is proposed. The camera focus is calculated by measuring the Bayes spectral entropy. In order to extract the ROI effectively, focus maps presenting the ROIs are first generated from three images separated into Y, Cb, Cr channels, respectively. Then, by selectively combining the focus maps and utilizing a threshold method, the ROI is finally extracted. Experimental results have shown that the proposed method obtains good performance of ROI extraction under various environments containing multiple objects and cluttered backgrounds in natural images.

The stress fractures of upper extremity are not frequently seen in a sports medicine. The stress fracture of ulnar diaphysis is rare. Even more the ulnar diaphysis stress fracture by tennis playing is very rare and had not been reported in Korea. We report a case of stress fracture of ulnar shaft in the nondominant arm of a professional tennis player who use a two-handed backhand stroke. Physical examination revealed localized tenderness at the site of ulnar diaphysis and plain X-ray revealed an mild periosteal reaction and Bone scan showed increased uptake at the point of fatigue fracture.

This study aimed to analyze characteristics of the seasonal habitat use of reintroduced Long-tailed Gorals (n=7) in Woraksan (mountain) National Park. We collected 10,721 goral coordinates in Woraksan (mountain) National Park via transmitters, and analyzed habitat use (e.g., aspect, distance from stream and road) from November 2006 to January 2013. Aspect use was southwest (22.6 %), and seasonal aspect use had a southwestern slope (in the spring, summer, and autumn). A northwestern aspect was detected in winter, but slope of 30°∼35° (19.0 %) was used regardless of the season and mean elevation use was 500 m. Moreover, seasonal use was higher in the summer and lower in the winter and spring. The distance from the stream was mainly 50 m in 17.2 %, except in the winter (distance of 300 m), and it was within 50 m in the spring, summer, and autumn. The distance from the road was 100 m in 25.7 %, and seasonal use was within 100 m except for the winter. Thus, we examined significant differences in the habitat use of reintroduced gorals in Woraksan (mountain), and provide elementary data for habitat stabilization of Woraksan (mountain) National Park where goral restoration has advanced.

<P><B>Abstract</B></P> <P>We propose a depth resolution improved target depth image extraction method in integral imaging by using the convolution property between periodic functions (CPPF) with image interpolation algorithm. We derive the depth resolution equation of a direct pickup system and analyze the factors related to the change of the depth resolution which are the focal length of an elemental lens and the resolution of an elemental image. We investigate the effect according to the change of these factors. The simulation results show that the key factor to change the depth resolution is the resolution of an elemental image. To show the feasibility of the proposed method, we carry out the preliminary experiments and present the results.</P>
