Running is becoming one of the most popular leisure sports. Part of the growing popularity of running is its easy accessibility and health benefits. The incidence of running injuries rates ranges from 37% to 56%, which incidence rate is still 2 to 6 times lower than in all other sports. Most running injuries are musculoskeletal overuse syndrome of the lower extremity. The risk factors of running injuries can be training errors, improper running surface, worn shoes, body flexibility, prior injury. The knee is the most common site of injury and accouts for 25% to 33% of all, and pa-tellofemoral stress syndrome is the most common known as runner's knee. Iliotibial band syndrome, medial tibial stress syndrome, plantar fascitis, Achilles tendinitis, stress fracture are common injuries in runners. The physical examination includes a biomechanical screening to identify related imbalances. Additionally, each runner is observed walking and running. This comprehensive, running specific approach to diagnosis can be helpful in developing optimum rehabilitation program.
The stress fractures of upper extremity are not frequently seen in a sports medicine. The stress fracture of ulnar diaphysis is rare. Even more the ulnar diaphysis stress fracture by tennis playing is very rare and had not been reported in Korea. We report a case of stress fracture of ulnar shaft in the nondominant arm of a professional tennis player who use a two-handed backhand stroke. Physical examination revealed localized tenderness at the site of ulnar diaphysis and plain X-ray revealed an mild periosteal reaction and Bone scan showed increased uptake at the point of fatigue fracture.
Aerobic dance has become one of the most popular exercise to keep a health and to have a leisure time in Korea. This type of exercise have a basic principle ought to be performed in practice in order to obtain a beneficial physiological effect and to prevent the exercise injuries. But in many places this principle has not been kept because they did not recognize or because the equipment was not prepared. The most important principle of aerobic exercise is that the exercise program should he planned correspond to the individual body fitness. It has been reported that aerobic dance offers not only a benefit to health but also some body injuries when it was not performed correctly. The majority of types of injury reported recently were strains, sprains, tendinitis, bursitis and the most common sites of injury in the body were low back, shin, ankle, foot, knee and so on. Herein we report a rare case of aerobic dance injury, which has not been reported in Korea, slipped femoral capital epiphysis, which was developed by inappropriate exercise program and poor preparing for exercise.
