<P>We report the design of a new precursor having three branching disiloxane units capable of forming 3D mesostructures with a cubic Pm-3n and its orthorhombic and tetragonal variants Cmmm and P4(2)/mnm, in addition to a conventional 2D hexagonal (p6mm) mesostructure, thus creating a novel research area of mesostructural design in silica-organic nanohybrid materials.</P>

According to a British black tea exporter, boiling water of ideal temperature is poured over tealeaves, more than half of the leaves will float while the rest drop to the bottom. Such a movement of tea leaves is well known as "jumping" phenomena. However, depending on the condition of the boiling water, it does not always occur "jumping". In order to analyze the "jumping" phenomena, we investigate automatic "jumping" phenomena through the teapot image sequence.

<P>We demonstrate facile synthesis of mesoporous Pt replicas using double gyroid mesoporous silica (KIT-6) with different pore diameters <I>via</I> vapor infiltration of a reducing agent. Through controlling the complementary pore size, it becomes possible to selectively deposit Pt into one side pore of the <I>Ia</I>3&cmb.macr;<I>d</I> bicontinuous structure, thereby forming a mesoporous Pt replica with relatively large mesopores (over 10 nm).</P> <P>Graphic Abstract</P><P>Through controlling the complementary pore size, it becomes possible to selectively deposit Pt into one side pore of bicontinuous structure. <IMG SRC='http://pubs.rsc.org/services/images/RSCpubs.ePlatform.Service.FreeContent.ImageService.svc/ImageService/image/GA?id=c0cc01196g'> </P>
