Does Design Pattern Support Easy Change Impact Analysis? - Focusing on the Command Pattern
Jinyong Park,Hyemin Noh,Cheoljung Yoo,Jihyun Lee 보안공학연구지원센터 2016 International Journal of Software Engineering and Vol.10 No.10
Design patterns, a solution for the specific context and the problem, give benefits to us what a good design creates if we adequately use them in accordance with their purposes and principles. However, if we do not use them with inadequate purposes, using design patterns can be causes of increasing costs and decreasing maintainability and system performance. An industrial robot completes its given task through a series of hardware device’s primitive movements, controlled by an application using the APIs provided by specific hardware vendors. However, required movements of a robot change frequently because the given task changes often. This requires changes on hardware devices. As a consequence of this, APIs, controlling the hardware device change, and we also should modify the corresponding application. Therefore, an industrial robot software application should be designed such that it can easily trace hardware device’s change impacts on the application as well as it defines ordered composite primitive movements for completing the required task. This paper implements parts of an application that use hardware dependent APIs by using the command pattern and validates whether it support each change impact analysis.

Abstract

An easy method for preparing polymer-grafted multi-walled carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs) with high graft yields was developed by using free radical graft polymerization (FRGP) from photoinduced surface initiating groups on MWCNTs. The surface initiating groups were first formed by UV irradiation of MWCNTs previously modified with 2,2′-azobis[2-methyl-N-(2-hydroxyethyl)propionamide] (VA-086) (MWCNTs-OH) in the presence of benzophenone in benzene, and the subsequent FRGP of vinyl monomers was carried out consecutively at 80°C. The surface initiating groups were homolytically cleaved to surface radicals and semipinacol radicals by thermal activation, and the surface radicals initiated FRGP. Polystyrene, poly(butyl acrylate), poly(methyl methacrylate), and poly(2-hydroxyethyl methacrylate) were successfully grafted onto the surface of MWCNTs with graft yields of 46, 26, 37, and 53wt.%, respectively, after 15h of FRGP.

공장 자동화 시스템에서 하드웨어 구성요소 변화에 따른 유연성 있는 소프트웨어 설계 기법

The software for Factory Automation System must be modified when a hardware component is changed. This is because the software was developed based on the API provided by vendor. In this case, the cost of software modification becomes high since the cost depends on the frequency and range of using the API. In this paper, we propose a design technique of flexible software to minimize software modification cost which is related to a changed hardware component. By defining a control interface between API and software, this design technique limits the range of modification to the interface. Also, it is possible to reduce project risk as well as the cost of software modification because it enables developers to handle flexibly in changing hardware component.
Psychiatry in Former Socialist Countries: Implications for North Korean Psychiatry
YoungSu Park,SangMin Park,JinYong Jun,SeogJu Kim 대한신경정신의학회 2014 PSYCHIATRY INVESTIGATION Vol.11 No.4
Very little information is available regarding psychiatry in North Korea, which is based on the legacy of Soviet psychiatry. This paper reviews the characteristics of psychiatry in former socialist countries and discusses its implications for North Korean psychiatry. Under socialism, psychiatric disorders were attributed primarily to neurophysiologic or neurobiological origins. Psychosocial or psychodynamic etiology was denied or distorted in line with the political ideology of the Communist Party. Psychiatry was primarily concerned with psychotic disorders, and this diagnostic category was sometimes applied based on political considerations. Neurotic disorders were ignored by psychiatry or were regarded as the remnants of capitalism. Several neurotic disorders characterized by high levels of somatization were considered to be neurological or physical in nature. The majority of “mental patients” were institutionalized for a long periods in large-scale psychiatric hospitals. Treatment of psychiatric disorders depended largely on a few outdated biological therapies. In former socialist countries, psychodynamic psychotherapy was not common, and psychiatric patients were likely to experience social stigma. According to North Korean doctors living in South Korea, North Korean psychiatry is heavily influenced by the aforementioned traditions of psychiatry. During the post-socialist transition, the suicide rate in many of these countries dramatically increased. Given such mental health crises in post-socialist transitional societies, the field of psychiatry may face major challenges in a future unified Korea.
