Purpose: This study analyzed research trends in infant and toddler rearing behavior among family caregivers over a 10-year period (2010-2021). Methods: Text network analysis and topic modeling were employed on data collected from relevant papers, following the extraction and refinement of semantic morphemes. A semantic-centered network was constructed by extracting words from 2,613 English-language abstracts. Data analysis was performed using NetMiner 4.5.0. Results: Frequency analysis, degree centrality, and eigenvector centrality all revealed the terms ''scale," ''program," and ''education" among the top 10 keywords associated with infant and toddler rearing behaviors among family caregivers. The keywords extracted from the analysis were divided into two clusters through cohesion analysis. Additionally, they were classified into two topic groups using topic modeling: "program and evaluation" (64.37%) and "caregivers' role and competency in child development" (35.63%). Conclusion: The roles and competencies of family caregivers are essential for the development of infants and toddlers. Intervention programs and evaluations are necessary to improve rearing behaviors. Future research should determine the role of nurses in supporting family caregivers. Additionally, it should facilitate the development of nursing strategies and intervention programs to promote positive rearing practices.

This essay examines the ways in which Moreau’s grafting and its outcome elicit sympathy, disgust, and horror from a handful of human subjects, including Edward Prendick―the main observer and (unreliable) narrator of The Island of Doctor Moreau―and Montgomery. To that end, I seek to place Moreau in conversation with theorists of emotion. Because every single emotion has its own history (or historical and geographical specificity), the making of disgust and horror and transitory sympathy and pity, I contend, is informed by Darwin’s theory of evolution. With a particular focus on the production of the aforementioned emotions, I argue that Wells’s Moreau encapsulates the affective dimensions of contact zones between the human and nonhuman species at the dawn of the twentieth century. The predominantly negative emotions―disgust and horror―can actually be taken as an important index that marks the moment the kinship across the species divide is complicated.
Adaptive defogging with color correction in the HSV color space for consumer surveillance system
Inhye Yoon,Seonyung Kim,Donggyun Kim,Hayes, M. H.,Joonki Paik IEEE 2012 IEEE TRANSACTIONS ON CONSUMER ELECTRONICS - Vol.58 No.1

Consumer video surveillance systems often suffer from bad weather conditions, observed objects lose visibility and contrast due to the presence of atmospheric haze, fog, and smoke. In this paper, we present an image defogging algorithm with color correction in the HSV color space for video processing. We first generate a modified transmission map of the image segmentation using multiphase level set formulation from the intensity (V) values. We also estimate atmospheric light in the intensity (V) values. The proposed method can significantly enhance the visibility of foggy video frames using the estimated atmospheric light and the modified transmission map. Another contribution of the proposed work is the compensation of color distortion between consecutive frames using the temporal difference ratio of HSV color channels. Experimental results show that the proposed method can be applied to consumer video surveillance systems for removing atmospheric artifacts without color distortion.

This article examines Sino-Korean cultural relations in the 1920s and 1930s, focusing on representations of Korean anticolonial activist An Chunggŭn’s assassination of Japanese prime minister Itō Hirobumi (1909). Two different junctures in particular are considered: the release of the film Patriotic Spirit by Chŏng Kitak in 1928 and the Wanbaoshan Incident in 1931. Patriotic Spirit, a transnational dramatization of An’s story, was the first Chinese film directed by a Korean; the Wanbaoshan Incident was a violent conflict between Chinese and Koreans caused by the unofficial “discord-provoking policy” of the Japanese empire. The article tracks changes in Chinese responses to An’s story before and after these two junctures, showing that Patriotic Spirit subtly communicated transnationalism while also catering to the Sinocentric taste of Chinese audiences. It also examines how Chinese print media in 1928 appropriated Patriotic Spirit for nationalist ends. Following the Wanbaoshan Incident, An’s story resurfaced in China. Despite heightened anti-Korean sentiment in China at this time, An avoided Chinese condemnation because the Chinese unwittingly categorized him as Korean yet not Korean. Hence, while An’s story became integrated into Chinese discourse, this study reveals, the sign of An Chunggŭn caused a rupture in the Han/non-Han divide embedded in Republican-era Chinese nationalism.
Cemento-osseous dysplasia: clinical presentation and symptoms
Inhye Nam,Jihye Ryu,Sang-Hun Shin,Yong-Deok Kim,Jae-Yeol Lee 대한구강악안면외과학회 2022 대한구강악안면외과학회지 Vol.48 No.2
Objectives: The purpose of this study was to evaluate risk factors and symptoms in cemento-osseous dysplasia (COD) patients. Materials and Methods: In this study, 62 patients who were diagnosed histologically with COD were investigated from 2010 to 2020 at the author’s institution. We compared clinical and radiological characteristics of symptomatic and asymptomatic patients. The factors were sex, age, lesion size, site, radiologic stage of lesion, apical involvement, sign of infection, and history of tooth extraction. Statistical analysis was performed using Fisher’s exact test and the chi-square test. Results: COD was more prevalent in female patients. With the exception of three cases, all were focal COD. The majority of patients presented with symptoms when the lesion was smaller than 1.5 cm in size. Symptoms were observed when the apex of the tooth was included in the lesion or there was a local infection around the lesion. The history of tooth extraction and previous endodontic treatment were evaluated, and history was not a signifi-cant predictor for the onset of symptoms. Conclusion: In this study, risk factors associated with symptomatic patients were size of lesion, apical involvement, and local infection.
