• Performance Analysis of Different Wavelet Families Over Fading Environments for Mobile WiMAX System

        Harpreet Kaur,Manoj Kumar,Ajay K Sharma,Harjit P. Singh 보안공학연구지원센터 2015 International Journal of Future Generation Communi Vol.8 No.1

Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (OFDM) has made tremendous improvement possible in wireless technology. Wavelet analysis is used as an alternative to Fourier analysis in OFDM system to transform and map data onto orthogonal subcarriers, as it is a time-frequency domain operation thus it offers the advantages of optimal flexibility with less complexity. This paper presents performance analysis in terms of Bit Error rate (BER) of different wavelet families in OFDM System under the joint effect of path loss, multipath fading and noisy environment for Mobile WiMAX. The results obtained show that the performance of the mobile-multipath environments for 16-QAM modulation schemes is enhanced as Daubechies and Biorthogonal wavelet families offers lower BER with different Path loss model. The performance measurements and analysis was done in simulation developed in MATLAB.

Impact of g-C3N4 loading on NiCo LDH for adsorptive removal of anionic and cationic organic pollutants from aqueous solution

Harpreet Kaur,Satnam Singh,Bonamali Pal 한국화학공학회 2021 Korean Journal of Chemical Engineering Vol.38 No.6

Layered double hydroxides are traditional positively charged inorganic materials generally considered as efficient and low-cost adsorbents for the removal of anionic organic molecules. In this study, we prepared a series of g- C3N4@NiCo LDH composites by loading 10-30 wt% of g-C3N4 onto the LDH through the electrostatic self-assembly method. The bare LDH and g-C3N4 loaded LDH composites were characterized by XRD, SEM-EDS, Zeta, DLS, and FTIR techniques. Results revealed that extra peak corresponds to g-C3N4 originating in the XRD patterns, distorted morphology of LDH, reduction in positive surface zeta potential, and enhancement in hydrodynamic size after loading of g-C3N4 affirmed the successful formation of the composite. The adsorption performance of as-modified LDH was evaluated by removing the most commonly used salicylic acid and methylene blue as anionic and cationic model pollutant, respectively, from aqueous solution. The adsorption mechanism for both the pollutants by as-synthesized samples follows Langmuir isotherm. The results demonstrated that the bare LDH exhibited maximum adsorption efficiency of 75.16mg/g and only 3.66mg/g for salicylic acid and methylene blue, respectively. With 30 wt% loading of g- C3N4, the adsorption capacity for methylene blue increased to 25.16mg/g almost 6-7 times higher than that of bare LDH. On the other hand, the opposite effect on adsorptive removal of salicylic acid was observed with increase in the wt% loading of g-C3N4. With 30 wt% loading of g-C3N4, the adsorption capacity for salicylic acid decreased to 38.37mg/g, almost half that of bare LDH. A possible mechanism has been proposed. The kinetics for adsorption of salicylic acid onto bare LDH obeys the second-order model aside from the methylene blue adsorption which follows first-order kinetics. On the other hand, the kinetics of adsorption for both the pollutants onto (10-30) CN- LDH composites follows second order kinetics.

Effect of trigger day serum luteinising hormone levels on the in-vitro fertilization outcome: an observational study

        Harpreet Kaur,Gautham T Pranesh,Vyshnavi Rao,Kamini A Rao 대한산부인과학회 2024 Obstetrics & Gynecology Science Vol.67 No.2

Objective Controlled ovarian stimulation leads to profound changes in the endocrine characteristics of the ovarian cycle. Serum luteinising hormone (LH) levels on the day of trigger have been shown to correlate with oocyte quality and pregnancy rate in antagonist cycles. Methods This is an observational study of 86 women undergoing an antagonist in-vitro fertilisation cycle. Oocyte maturation trigger used was either Inj. human chorionic gonadotropin or Inj. triptorelin 0.2 mg s/c or a combination of both. Women were categorised into four groups based on serum LH levels on the day of trigger i.e., LH ≤0.5 (n=8), LH=0.6- 1.0 international units (IU)/L (n=12), LH=1.0-1.5 IU/L (n=13), and LH >1.6 IU/L (n=53) and the subgroup analysis was done based on type of trigger used. Results Mature oocyte (MII) retrieval rate did not show a significant relation with serum LH levels (87%, 89%, 77%, and 76% in groups with LH <0.5, 0.5-1.0, 1.0-1.5, and >1.5 IU/L respectively; P-value=0.243). There was no significant difference in the clinical pregnancy rate either when women were split according to the type of trigger given or according to trigger day LH levels. Women with low LH levels (<0.5 IU/L) required significantly more doses of gonadotropins compared to women with LH levels of 1.0-1.5 IU/L. (3,531+1,133 vs. 2,281+938; P-value=0.01). Conclusion Based on the observation from the current study, there was no significant association of serum LH levels with MII retrieval rate and clinical pregnancy rate. The group with low LH levels required slightly longer days of stimulation. Objective Controlled ovarian stimulation leads to profound changes in the endocrine characteristics of the ovarian cycle. • ZnO decorated with organic nanoparticles based sensor for the ratiometric selective determination of mercury ions

        Kaur, Narinder,Singh, Jasminder,Raj, Pushap,Singh, Narinder,Singh, Harpreet,Sharma, Sanjeev K.,Kim, Deuk Young,Kaur, Navneet The Royal Society of Chemistry 2016 New journal of chemistry Vol.40 No.2

ZnO nanoparticles decorated with organic receptor 1 (R1) have been prepared and the resultant compound (N1) was investigated for its metal recognition ability. N1 was found to be selective for mercury ions (Hg2+) in a DMSO/water mixture in a ratio of 7 : 3 and possessed no interference from any of the potential interferent metal ions. The crystal size and morphology of ZnO is characterized using various spectroscopic and diffraction techniques like scanning electron microscopy, X-ray diffraction (XRD), dynamic light scattering (DLS), etc. Surface decoration of the ZnO with receptor 1 is confirmed using NMR spectroscopy. On successive additions of Hg2+ ions, the fluoresence intensity of the compound was quenched at 427 nm with enhancement of the peak at 482 nm, which led to ratiometric sensor development for the recognition of mercury ions having a detection limit of 0.19 nM. The prepared receptor was also tested for real sample application by preparing a known concentration of Hg2+ solution and it was found to respond well with an accuracy more than 90%.

Developing a Biomedical Expert Finding System Using Medical Subject Headings

        Harpreet Singh,Reema Singh,Arjun Malhotra,Manjit Kaur 대한의료정보학회 2013 Healthcare Informatics Research Vol.19 No.4

Objectives: Efficient identification of subject experts or expert communities is vital for the growth of any organization. Most of the available expert finding systems are based on self-nomination, which can be biased, and are unable to rank experts. Thus, the objective of this work was to develop a robust and unbiased expert finding system which can quantitatively measure expertise. Methods: Medical Subject Headings (MeSH) is a controlled vocabulary developed by the National Library of Medicine (NLM) for indexing research publications, articles and books. Using the MeSH terms associated with peer-reviewed articles published from India and indexed in PubMed, we developed a Web-based program which can be used to identify subject experts and subjects associated with an expert. Results: We have extensively tested our system to identify experts from India in various subjects. The system provides a ranked list of experts where known experts rank at the top of the list. The system is general; since it uses information available with the PubMed, it can be implemented for any country. Conclusions: The expert finding system is able to successfully identify subject experts in India. Our system is unique because it allows the quantification of subject expertise, thus enabling the ranking of experts. Our system is based on peer-reviewed information. Use of MeSH terms as subjects has standardized the subject terminology. The system matches requirements of an ideal expert finding system.

        Kaur, Sukhpreet,Sambyal, Vasudha,Guleria, Kamlesh,Manjari, Mridu,Sudan, Meena,Uppal, Manjit Singh,Singh, Neeti Rajan,Singh, Gursimran,Singh, Harpreet Asian Pacific Journal of Cancer Prevention 2014 Asian Pacific journal of cancer prevention Vol.15 No.19

Background: To investigate the relationship of five TP53 polymorphisms (p.P47S, p.R72P, PIN3 ins16bp, p.R213R and r.13494g>a) with the esophageal cancer (EC) risk in North Indians. Materials and Methods: Genotyping of p.P47S, p.R72P, PIN3 ins16bp, p.R213R and r.13494g>a polymorphisms of TP53 in 136 sporadic EC patients and 136 controls using polymerase chain reaction and PCR-RFLP. Results: The frequencies of genotype RR, RP and PP of p.R72P polymorphism were 16.91 vs 26.47%, 58.82 vs 49.27% and 24.27 vs 24.27% among patients and controls respectively. We observed significantly increased frequency of RP genotype in cases as compared to controls (OR=1.87, 95% CI, 1.01-3.46, p=0.05). The frequencies of genotype A1A1, A1A2 and A2A2 of PIN3 ins16bp polymorphism were 69.12 vs 70.59%, 27.20 vs 25% and 3.68 vs 4.41% among patients and controls. There was no significant difference among genotype and allele distribution between patients and controls. The frequencies of genotype GG, GA and AA of r.13494g>a polymorphism were 62.50 vs 64.70%, 34.56 vs 30.15% and 2.94 vs 5.15% among patients and controls respectively. No significant difference between genotype and allele frequency was observed in the patients and controls. For p.P47S and p.R213R polymorphisms, all the cases and controls had homozygous wild type genotype. The RP-A1A1-GG genotype combination shows significant risk for EC (OR=2.01, 95%CI: 1.01-3.99, p=0.05). Conclusions: Among the five TP53 polymorphisms investigated, only p.R72P polymorphism may contributes to EC susceptibility.

      • Effect of two temperature and energy dissipation in an axisymmetric modified couple stress isotropic thermoelastic solid

        Lata, Parveen,Kaur, Harpreet Techno-Press 2022 Coupled systems mechanics Vol.11 No.3

The present paper deals with the axisymmetric deformation in homogeneousisotropic thermoelastic solid with two temperatures, with and without energy dissipation using modified couple stresstheory. The effect of energy dissipation and two temperature isstudied due to the concentrated normalforce, normalforce overthe circularregion, thermal pointsource and thermalsource over the circular region. The Laplace and Hankel transform techniques have been used to find the solution to the problem. The displacement components, conductive temperature distribution, stress components and couple stress are computed in the transformed domain and further calculated in the physical domain using numerical inversion techniques. Effects of two temperature and energy dissipation on the conductive temperature, stress components and couple stress are depicted graphically.

      • Axisymmetric deformation in transversely isotropic thermoelastic medium using new modified couple stress theory

        Lata, Parveen,Kaur, Harpreet Techno-Press 2019 Coupled systems mechanics Vol.8 No.6

The present study is concerned with the thermoelastic interactions in a two dimensional axisymmetric problem in transversely isotropic thermoelastic solid using new modified couple stress theory without energy dissipation and with two temperatures. The Laplace and Hankel transforms have been employed to find the general solution to the field equations. Concentrated normal force, normal force over the circular region, concentrated thermal source and thermal source over the circular region have been taken to illustrate the application of the approach. The components of displacements, stress, couple stress and conductive temperature distribution are obtained in the transformed domain. The resulting quantities are obtained in the physical domain by using numerical inversion technique. The effect of two temperature varying by taking different values for the two temperature on the components of normal stress, tangential stress, conductive temperature and couple stress are depicted graphically.
