Frequent urban rainstorm inundations can cause serious damages to human life and social economy. Reliable simulation of urban rainstorm inundation is an effective approach for performing flood risk analysis to reduce losses. In this work, a full 2D high-performance hydrodynamic model for urban rainstorm inundation simulation based on Graphic Processing Unit (GPU) was developed. The idealized V-shape catchment and sponge city district of Fengxi New City were selected as the study areas to assess performance of the model. The model was validated against analytical benchmark results of the idealized V-catchment test which show good agreement between the modelled flow and analytical solutions. The model was then applied to simulate actual urban rainstorm inundation process under measured rainfall. The results indicated that the model can be applied to high-resolution urban region simulations. Specifically, the validation results indicated that the proposed model had a good performance, with an accepted error of less than 15%. When applied to compute the Fengxi New city under design rainstorms with different annual return periods of 1, 5, 10, 20, 50, and 100 years, it was found that the model effectively evaluated the temporal and spatial variation process of urban inundation, and quantitatively investigated flood risks according to the water depth change. The model has been substantially accelerated on GPU to quickly predict urbaninundation. The accuracy and rapid simulation speed of the model were verified based on the actual study area. Therefore, the proposed model can help to predict the dynamic processes of urban flood inundation and thus reduce flood inundation disasters. This is essential for future optimal sponge urban construction planning in China.
Thermo-optic Characteristics of Micro-structured Optical Fiber Infiltrated with Mixture Liquids
Ran Wang,Yuye Wang,Yinping Miao,Ying Lu,Nannan Luan,Congjing Hao,Liangcheng Duan,Cai Yuan,Jianquan Yao 한국광학회 2013 Current Optics and Photonics Vol.17 No.3
We present both theoretically and experimentally the thermo-optic characteristics of micro-structured optical fiber (MOF) filled with mixed liquid. The performance of MOF depends on the efficient interaction between the fundamental mode of the transmitted light wave and the tunable thermo-optic materials in the cladding. The numerical simulation indicates that the confinement loss of MOF presents higher temperature dependence with higher air-filling ratios d/Λ, longer incident wavelength and fewer air holes in the cladding. For the 4cm liquid-filled grapefruit MOF, we demonstrate from experiments that different proportions of solutions lead to tunable temperature sensitive ranges. The insertion loss and the extinction ratio are 3~4 dB and approximate 20 dB, respectively. The proposed liquid-filling MOF will be developed as thermo-optic sensor, attenuator or optical switch with the advantages of simple structure, compact configuration and easy fabrication.

Wei Wei,Ran Zhang,Jing Wang,Guang-Bo Hao 제어로봇시스템학회 2016 제어로봇시스템학회 국제학술대회 논문집 Vol.2016 No.10
Nanopositioning proposes a high demand for its control system. However, hysteresis, a common nonlinear phenomenon existing in piezoelectric actuator, decreases precision of nanopositioning. In this paper, active disturbance rejection control (ADRC) is designed to estimate and cancel the influence of hysteresis, and integral time absolute error (ITAE) optimal index is chosen to determine the parameters of ADRC. Simulations are performed on the basis of mathematic model of nanopositioning system, and numerical results show that ADRC is effective in the control of nanopositioning.

Background: Constitutive DUSP1 expression has been shown to be involved in cell cycle inhibition, apoptosis, and senescence. This study was aimed to examine whether DUSP1 functions as tumor suppressor in hepatocarcinogenesis and to explore underlying mechanism whereby DUSP1 suppresses hepatocarcinogenesis. Methods: Immunohistochemistry and real-time PCR analysis were performed in HCC tissues. Cellular localization of DUSP1 was detected by immunofluorescence. Cell proliferation was tested by MTT assay. Cell death and cell cycle were measured by FACS analysis. Apoptotic and kinase signaling were explored by western blot analysis. Tumorigenicity and survival analysis were tested by xenotransplant of SH-J1 cells stably expressing DUSP1 or infected with Ad-DUSP1 in mouse model. Phospho-related factors expression profile in DUSP1 stable cell lines as determined by phospho-kinase array. Results: The mRNA and protein expression level of DUSP1 was down-regulated in tumor than that of the corresponding non-tumor in HCC tissues. Cellular localization of DUSP1 showed that the endogenous DUSP1 and ectopic expression of GFP-tagged DUSP1 was mainly located in the nucleus. DUSP1 down-regulation was associated with reciprocal activation of ERK1/2 in HCC cell lines. DUSP1 was up-regulated in a dose dependent manner after parthenolide or doxorubicin treatment. DUSP1 over-expression was correlated with the increased susceptibility to apoptotic cell death through caspase activation. Ectopic DUSP1 over-expression resulted in the inhibitions of cell cycle progression, colony generation, and tumor growth in vitro and in vivo system. Furthermore, survival rate of mice xenoplanted with DUSP1 overexpressed HCC cells is significantly higher than control group. Inhibition of tumorigenic potential by DUSP1 may involve in p38MAPK- HSP27-P53 pathway. Conclusions: DUSP1 functions as a tumor suppressor during hepatocarcinogenesis, which seemed to be mainly associated with the activation of p53 target genes through p38MAPK/ HSP27 pathway.

Background: CTHRC1 is a 30 kDa secreted protein that has the ability to inhibit collagen matrix synthesis. CTHRC1 expression in breast cancer and colorectal cancer is associated with cancer tissue invasion and metastasis. But, the functional significance of CTHRC1 expression in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is unknown. So the purpose of this study is to investigate whether CTHRC1 is a biomolecular marker in human hepatocellular carcinoma. Methods: CTHRC1 protein expression was investigated by Immunoblotting analysis in HCC cell lines and HCC tumor tissues, respectively. The expressions of CTHRC1 in HCC tissues were also evaluated by immunohistochemical staining according to tumor differentiaton and stage. CTHRC1 levels were assessed in serum of HCC patients by Western blot analysis. Colony formation was assessed in SH-J1 and HLK3 cells. Results: Endogenous and ectopic expression of CTHRC1 was mainly localized in the cytoplasm of the tumor cells. The immunohistochemical staining showed that the expression of CTHRC1 was negligible in normal liver tissue, but most tumors were immunoreactive. CTHRC1 was highly expressed in tumor tissues compares with non - tumor tissues, but barely expressed in HCC cells. We also found that secreted CTHRC1 was abundantly present in the serum of the patients with early and advanced HCCs, and absent with normal liver. Colony generation assay revealed that CTHRC1 overexpression increased colony number by two-folds. Conclusions: These results suggest that CTHRC1 protein maybe useful as a potential biomolecular maker for HCC.

WNKs: protein kinases with a unique kinase domain
Chou-Long Huang,차승규,Hao-Ran Wang,Jian Xie,Melanie H. Cobb 생화학분자생물학회 2007 Experimental and molecular medicine Vol.39 No.5
WNKs (with-no-lysine [K]) are a family of serine-threonine protein kinases with an atypical placement of the catalytic lysine relative to all other protein kinases. The roles of WNK kinases in regulating ion transport were first revealed by the findings that mutations of two members cause a genetic hypertension and hyperkalemia syndrome. More recent studies suggest that WNKs are pleiotropic protein kinases with important roles in many cell processes in addition to ion transport. Here, we review roles of WNK kinases in the regulation of ion balance, cell signaling, survival, and proliferation, and embryonic organ development.

Vertical vibration model of strip mill is established by considering piecewise nonlinear constraint arising from hydraulic cylinder. The approximate analytical solution of the model is obtained by incremental harmonic balance (IHB) method. The harmonic frequencies not conducive to stability are produced because the nonlinearity of the piecewise constraint. Bifurcation behavior of the system changes with external excitation amplitude and frequency ratio, intermittent chaos and periodic window are appeared alternately, the chaos region enlarged with the increasing piecewise interval. Compared with the piecewise linear constraint, the region of chaotic motion is widened obviously under the nonlinear constraint. Moreover, the critical condition of bifurcation and chaos behavior can be obtained from maximum Lyapunov exponent (MLE).
