        In-feed organic and inorganic manganese supplementation on broiler performance and physiological responses

        Objective: A trial was conducted to investigate the effects of supplemental levels of Mn provided by organic and inorganic trace mineral supplements on growth, tissue mineralization, mineral balance, and antioxidant status of growing broiler chicks. Methods: A total of 500 male chicks (8-d-old) were used in 10-day feeding trial, with 10 treatments and 10 replicates of 5 chicks per treatment. A 2×5 factorial design was used where supplemental Mn levels (0, 25, 50, 75, and 100 mg Mn/kg diet) were provided as MnSO<sub>4</sub>·H<sub>2</sub>O or MnPro. When Mn was supplied as MnPro, supplements of zinc, copper, iron, and selenium were supplied as organic minerals, whereas in MnSO<sub>4</sub>·H<sub>2</sub>O supplemented diets, inorganic salts were used as sources of other trace minerals. Performance data were fitted to a linearbroken line regression model to estimate the optimal supplemental Mn levels. Results: Manganese supplementation improved body weight, average daily gain (ADG) and feed conversion ratio (FCR) compared with chicks fed diets not supplemented with Mn. Manganese in liver, breast muscle, and tibia were greatest at 50, 75, and 100 mg supplemental Mn/kg diet, respectively. Higher activities of glutathione peroxidase and superoxide dismutase (total-SOD) were found in both liver and breast muscle of chicks fed diets supplemented with inorganic minerals. In chicks fed MnSO<sub>4</sub>·H<sub>2</sub>O, ADG, FCR, Mn balance, and concentration in liver were optimized at 59.8, 74.3, 20.6, and 43.1 mg supplemental Mn/kg diet, respectively. In MnPro fed chicks, ADG, FCR, Mn balance, and concentration in liver and breast were optimized at 20.6, 38.0, 16.6, 33.5, and 62.3 mg supplemental Mn/kg, respectively. Conclusion: Lower levels of organic Mn were required by growing chicks for performance optimization compared to inorganic Mn. Based on the FCR, the ideal supplemental levels of organic and inorganic Mn in chick feeds were 38.0 and 74.3 mg Mn/kg diet, respectively.

      • 국제협약과 국내 아동인권 결정례에 반영된 아동인권에 관한 연구

        아동관련 국제협약은 국제사회 아동인권의 지침이 된다. 또한 국가인권위의 아동인권 결정례는 아동인권에 대한 사회적인 변화를 내포하고 있으며 이러한 법적, 정책적인 변화는 국민들의 인식변화로 이어지고 확산될 때 아동에 대한 실질적인 인권향상을 가져올 수 있다. 이러한 확산방안으로 통합적 사고를 적용해 보고 실제 정책에서의 원용을 통해 아동권리 향상에 이바지하는 것이 본 연구의 목적이다. 국제 사회와 한국의 국가인권위는 각종 협약과 결정례를 통해 아동인권에 대해 가이드를 주고 있다. 국제협약과 인권위의 결정은 동인권에 대한 인식변화를 내포한다. 또한 더 나아가 본 연구에서는 통합적 사고(Intergrated Thinking)는 직관적 사고나 분석적 사고의 한쪽이 아니라 이에 대해 통합적으로 접근하는 사고 방법이다. 또한 문제의 새로운 해결책을 탐색하기 위하여 확산적 사고와 수렴적 사고과정을 반복하여 창의적인 문제해결의 답을 찾는 디자인적 사고의 기초이다. 이러한 방식은 변화하는 아동인권에 대한 인식을 확산하는 하나의 방안이 될 수 있다. International Convention on Children is a guide to child human rights in the international community. In addition, the NHRC’s decision on children's human rights implies social changes in children’s human rights, and such legal and policy changes can lead to changes in people’s perceptions and lead to real human rights improvements for children when they spread. The purpose of this study is to apply integrated thinking to this problem and contribute to the improvement of children's rights through the use of original policies. The international community and South Korea's National Human Rights Commission are giving guidelines on child human rights through various conventions and precedents. The decisions of the International Convention and the Human Rights Commission imply a change in the perception of children's human rights. Furthermore, integrated thinking is not one of intuitive or analytical thinking, but an integrated approach to it. It is also the basis to find creative solution of problem solving by repeating the diffusion and convergent thinking processes. This approach could be a way to spread awareness of changing child human rights.

        2015 개정 초등학교 통합교과 교육과정에 대한 비판적 검토

        이 연구에서는 제5차 통합교과 교육과정 개발 이후 일관적으로 지향해 온 통합교과의 탈교과적 접근에 비추어 볼 때, 2015 개정 통합교과 교육과정을 어떻게 이해할 수 있는지를 비판적으로 검토하였다. 연구 결과, 2015 개정 통합교과 교육과정은 두 가지 점에서 지금까지 통합교과 교육과정이 교육의 내용을 학습자의 삶을 중심으로 구성하고 조직하는 탈교과적 통합을 지향해 온 것과 차이가 있었다. 첫째, 통합교과 교육과정의 내용을 다룰 때 사용해 온 ‘주제(대주제, 소주제, 활동주제)’를 ‘영역, 개념, 지식, 내용’ 등의 용어로 대체한 점, 둘째, 통합교과를 분과교과와 연계하도록 안내하는 점이었다. 이런 검토 결과를 바탕으로, 통합교과가 통합교육과정으로서 특수한 지향점과 국가수준 교육과정을 구성하는 하나의 교과교육과정으로서 일반적인 요구사항을 모두 반영해야 하는 딜레마를 논의할 수 있었다. 하나는 탈교과적 통합을 지향하면서도 이를 다시 교과라는 틀로 제시해야 한다는 점, 다른 하나는 타 교과들과 구별되는 영역을 가지고 통합교과만의 독자적인 내용을 다루면서, 그것이 종국에는 학생들이 통합교과 이후에 학습하게 될 교과들과 연계되어야 한다는 점이다. 이 두 가지 쟁점은 향후 통합교과 교육과정 개정에서도 숙고 할 필요가 있을 것이다. This study critically reviewed the 2015 revised integrated curriculum which reflected the direction of the 2015 revised curriculum in light of the consistent direction of the integrated curriculum. As a result of the study, the main revision of the 2015 revised integrated curriculum differed from the perspective that the integrated curriculum has formed. In particular, it replaces the ‘topics’ that have been used to deal with the contents of the integrated curriculum with ‘concepts, knowledge, and contents’ and guides each integrated subject to be linked to specific subjects. This contrasts with the fact that the integrated curriculum has been aiming for trans-disciplinary integration, which organizes the curriculum around the lives of learners. Through this, I discussed the dilemma that the integrated curriculum should overcome. The dilemma is that while the integrated curriculum aims for trans-subject integration, it should be presented in the framework of the subject again and while dealing with the unique contents of integrated subjects that distinguish them from other subjects, it should eventually be linked to other subjects.

      • Machine learning approach for the prediction of dystocia

        Objective: The harmony of material factors and baby size is important for successful vaginal delivery. This research attempted to predict dystocia using the machine learning technique using each material factor, baby size, and the relationship between material factor and baby size. Methods: More than 37 weeks of delivery were targeted among the 293 mothers who gave birth at Bundang Cha Hospital between January 2010 and June 2021 and received CT within five years before and after. A total of 138 vaginal deliveries and 61 dystocias (CPD, malpresentation, induction failure) had their pelvimetry evaluated. Two machine-learning methods (decision tree and logistic regression) were used to predict dystocia. The main outcome measures are under the receiver-operating curve (AUROC), overall accuracy, sensitivity, and specificity of prediction of dystocia. Results: AUROC was 0.615, overall accuracy was 0.743, sensitivity was 0.289, and specificity was 0.942 in the decision tree model. UROC was 0.560, overall accuracy was 0.662, sensitivity was 0.342, and specificity was 0.808 in the logistic regression model. Factors affecting dystocia are head circumference and maternal mid-transverse diameter ratio, pubic angle, head circumference, and BMI ratio, terms BMI, mid-transverse diameter, and age. Conclusion: Dystocia is still challenging to anticipate. Clinical treatment can benefit from dystocia prediction utilizing machine learning approaches.

        Numerical simulation of CO2 absorption into aqueous methyldiethanolamine solutions

        The CO2 absorption rate into aqueous N-methyldiethanolamine solutions was measured using a stirred cell with a flat gas-liquid interface. The measurements were performed in the temperature range of 293.15 to 333.15 K for various amine concentrations and CO2 partial pressures. A numerical model of mass-transfer with complex chemical reactions based on the film theory was developed to interpret the experimental results. The model predictions have been found to be in good agreement with the experimental values of CO2 absorption rates. A comparison is made between the enhancement factor predicted from the detailed model and the approximate solution of mass transfer equations with chemical reaction. The numerical results indicate that under the present experimental conditions, the effect of the reaction between CO2 and OH− on the observed mass transfer rates is negligible. The detailed mass transfer model was used for simulating the CO2 absorption process in terms of the enhancement factor under a variety of operating conditions.

      • Human-Touch wearable armband development for tactile extended reality sensibility

        In this study, in the era of digital transformation, which has been accelerating since the COVID-19 Pandemic, a human-touch armband that delivers emotions through touch was developed to enable emotional interaction between users present in remote areas. To this end, a soft pneumatic actuator having nine touch surfaces was manufactured using a fabric and a silicone air pouch. Using 9 individually controlled touch surfaces, three basic touch gestures such as touch, double touch, and drag, and three emotional gestures such as patting, hug, and caressing were set, and they were implemented through programming. The developed human touch armband proposed a new possibility of human touch communication and a design as a smart wearable by delivering emotions to distant partners with tactile stimulation, and can be applied to provide tactile expansion reality required in situations where face-to-face contact is limited.
