Influence of porosity distribution on vibration analysis of GPLs-reinforcement sectorial plate
Anqiang Jia,Haiyan Liu,Lijian Ren,Yingxia Yun,Vahid Tahouneh 국제구조공학회 2020 Steel and Composite Structures, An International J Vol.35 No.1
The goal of this study is to fill this apparent gap in the area about investigating the effect of porosity distributions on vibrational behavior of FG sectorial plates resting on a two-parameter elastic foundation. The response of the elastic medium is formulated by the Winkler/Pasternak model. The internal pores and graphene platelets (GPLs) are distributed in the matrix either uniformly or non-uniformly according to three different patterns. The model is proposed with material parameters varying in the thickness of plate to achieve graded distributions in both porosity and nanofillers. The elastic modulus of the nanocomposite is obtained by using Halpin-Tsai micromechanics model. The annular sector plate is assumed to be simply supported in the radial edges while any arbitrary boundary conditions are applied to the other two circular edges including simply supported, clamped and free. The 2-D differential quadrature method as an efficient and accurate numerical approach is used to discretize the governing equations and to implement the boundary conditions. The convergence of the method is demonstrated and to validate the results, comparisons are made between the present results and those reported by well-known references for special cases treated before, have confirmed accuracy and efficiency of the present approach. It is observed that the maximum vibration frequency obtained in the case of symmetric porosity and GPL distribution, while the minimum vibration frequency is obtained using uniform porosity distribution. Results show that for better understanding of mechanical behavior of nanocomposite plates, it is crucial to consider porosities inside the material structure.
Impact of Government Ownership on Investment Banks’ Underwriting Performance: Evidence from China
Ning Jia,Haiyan Zhang 한국증권학회 2010 Asia-Pacific Journal of Financial Studies Vol.39 No.2
This paper examines the effect of government ownership on investment banks’ underwriting performance in China. A large number of Chinese investment banks are owned and controlled by their respective regional governments. While regional governments may capitalize on their superior local knowledge and administrative power to help affiliated investment banks identify and land high quality local issuers, they may also leverage affiliated underwriters to facilitate the capital market access of those underperformed but socially and ⁄ or politically desirable local firms. Empirical evidence favors the latter hypothesis. Specifically, using a sample of regional IPOs, we find that issuers underwritten by their respective regional government-affiliated investment banks exhibit lower earnings quality and poorer long-term performance compared with those underwritten by unaffiliated investment banks. However, this difference is attenuated after the abolition of the IPO quota system. Examination of underwriting fees and issuers’ shareholder identity provides additional evidence supporting the latter hypothesis.
A Review of Epitaxial Metal-Nitride Films by Polymer-Assisted Deposition
Hongmei Luo,Haiyan Wang,Guifu Zou,Eve Bauer,Thomas M. McCleskey,Anthony K. Burrell,Quanxi Jia 한국전기전자재료학회 2010 Transactions on Electrical and Electronic Material Vol.11 No.2
Polymer-assisted deposition is a chemical solution route to high quality thin films. In this process, the polymer controls the viscosity and binds metal ions, resulting in a homogeneous distribution of metal precursors in the solution and the formation of crack-free and uniform films after thermal treatment. We review our recent effort to epitaxially grow metal-nitride thin films, such as hexagonal GaN, cubic TiN, AlN, NbN, and VN, mixed-nitride Ti1-xAlxN, ternary nitrides tetragonal SrTiN2, BaZrN2, and BaHfN2, hexagonal FeMoN2, and nanocomposite TiN-BaZrN2.

Background Sweetpotato (Ipomoea batatas) is a hexaploid plant and generally most genotypes do not flower at all in subtropics. Heterografting was carried out between sweetpotato cultivar ‘Xushu 18’ and Japanese morning glory (Ipomoea nil). With sweetpotato as ‘scion’ and I. nil as ‘rootstock’, sweetpotato was induced flowering in the autumn. However, little is known about the molecular mechanisms underlying sweetpotato responses to grafting, especially during the full blooming stages. Objectives To investigate the poorly understood molecular responses underlying the grafting-induced phenotypic processes in sweetpotato at full anthesis. Methods In this study, to explore the transcriptome diversity and complexity of sweetpotato, PacBio Iso-Seq and Illumina RNA-seq analysis were combined to obtain full-length transcripts and to profile the changes in gene expression of five tissues: scion flowers (SF), scion leaves (SL), scion stems (SS), own-rooted leaves (OL) and own-rooted stems (OS). Results A total of 138,151 transcripts were generated with an average length of 2255 bp, and more than 72% (100,396) of the transcripts were full-length. During full blooming, to examine the difference in gene expression of sweetpotato under grafting and natural growth conditions, 7905, 7795 and 15,707 differentially expressed genes were detected in pairwise comparisons of OS versus SS, OL versus SL and SL versus SF, respectively. Moreover, differential transcription of genes associated with anthocyanin biosynthesis, light pathway and photosynthesis, ethylene signal transduction pathway was observed in scion responses to grafting. Conclusion Our study is useful in understanding the molecular basis of grafting-induced flowering in grafted sweetpotatoes, and will lay a foundation for further research on sweetpotato breeding in the future.

<P>A critical determinant of message interactivity is the presence of contingency, that is, the messages we receive are contingent upon the messages we send, leading to a threaded loop of interdependent messages. While this “conversational ideal” is easily achieved in face-to-face and computer-mediated communications (CMC), imbuing contingency in human-computer interaction (HCI) is a challenge. We propose two interface features—interaction history and synchronous chat—for increasing perceptions of contingency, and therefore user engagement. We test it with a five-condition, between-participants experiment (<I>N</I> = 110) on a movie search site. Data suggest that interaction history can indeed heighten perceptions of contingency and dialogue, but is perceived as less interactive than chatting. However, the chat function does not appreciably increase perceived contingency or user engagement, both of which are shown to mediate the effects of message interactivity on attitudes toward the site. Theoretical implications for interactivity research and practical implications for interaction design are discussed.</P>
An investigation on the dynamics of domain switching of Bi0.5Na0.5TiO3-based ferroelectric ceramics
Zhipeng Gao,Hang Zhang,Yi Liu,Lingfeng Wu,Jia Yang,Tao Zhang,Haiyan Wang,Xuefeng Chen,Genshui Wang,Hongliang He 한국물리학회 2017 Current Applied Physics Vol.17 No.4
The dynamics of domain switching of Bi0.5Na0.5TiO3-based ferroelectric ceramic was investigated. With the electric field increasing, the domain switch experienced three sections of no domain switch region, creep region and flow region. In the creep region, the domain switch is dominated by the thermally activated domain wall movement. In flow region, the domain wall experience the viscous flow motion. For the BNT-BA-Zn ceramic, the activation energy of creep domain switch is much higher than it in flow region. With temperature increasing, the sensitivity of domain wall motion to the frequency is decreasing. This result demonstrated the domain switch of different ferroelectric materials could be quantitatively analyzed and compared based on the simple polarization - current - electric field data.
