The purpose of this study is to measure the changes of regional cerebral blood flow (rCBF) and blood pressure (BP) in rats, following the intravenous injection of Catalpa Ovata Water Extract (COWE). The measurement was continually monitored by laser-doppler flowmeter (Transonic Instrument, USA) and pressure tranducer(Grass, USA) in anesthetized adult Sprague-Dawley rats through the data acquisition system composed of MacLab and Macintosh computer. The result of this experiment was as following : COWE increased the changes of rCBF and BP significantly. After pretreatment with propranolol and indomethacin, the changes of rCBF were inhibited significantly, but not by L-NNA and methylene blue. Also, after pretreatment with propranolol, the changes of BP were inhibited significantly, but not by L-NNA, methylene blue and indomethacin. According to above result, it is considered that Catalpa Ovata increased the rCBF and BP, related to adrenergic β-receptor.

사람 뇨 속의 15개 endogenous steroid를 β-glucuronidase(from E. Coli)로 가수분해시켜서 XAD-2 수치를 사용하여 추출하고 N-methly silyl heptafluoro butylamide/trimethyl silylimidazole/trimethyl chloro silane 혼합물로 유도체화시킨 다음, GC/MSD로 동시 분석하였다. endocrine disease의 진단용으로 사용되어질 수 있는 15개의 endogenous steroid 농도는 정상인 뇨에서 0.01∼100㎍/ml로 나타났다. The fifteen endogenous steroids in human urine were simultaneously analyzed by selected ion monitoring(SIM) method of GC/MS. Urinary steroids were extracted by using XAD-2 resin and hydrolyzed with β-glucuronidase from E. Coli. The urinary steroids were quantitatively derivatized by N-methyl heptafluoro butylamide/trimethyl silylimidazole/trimethylchloro silane mixture. Concentrations of the fifteen steroids were in the range of 0.01∼100㎍/ml in the urine of twenty-four males and twenty-four females. The quantitative results of steroids can be used as a diagnostic tool for endocrine disease.
실비음(實脾飮)이 Zucker rat의 비만 및 항산화에 미치는 영향

Objective : This study was carried out to examine the effect of Silbi-um(Shipi-yin, SBU) on obesity and antioxidation.Methods and Materials : SBU was investigated effects of obesity and antioxidation for DPPH radical ability, nitrate reductase activity, total body weight and fed ratio, serum glucose content, serum triglyceride and total cholesterol content, serum GPT and GOT content, serum leptin content, catalase activity, superoxide dismutase activity, lipidperoxidation and glutathione activity. In this experiment rats were divided into 4 group, Lean control; non-treated, Lean A; SBU, Fat; control: non treated, Fat A; SBU, Each value is the mean ± S.E for 3 separate experiments. Result and Conclusions : In vitro, DPPH radical ability and nitrate reductase activity were increased according to the increasing of SBU concentrations. In vivo, compared with Fat control group, the serum glucose content, the serum triglyceride content, the serum total cholesterol content the serum GPT and the serum GOT content were decreased in Fat A group. The serum leptin content was increased, too. Catalase activity and superoxide dismutase activity were increased and lipidperoxidation was decreased in Fat A group compared with Fat control group. Glutathione activity was not increased significantly. According to the above results, the obesity and the antioxidant activities of SBU were proved in experiment and it should be studied and developed more throughly.
Adsorption and Desorption of CO on W(110) Surfaces

The adsorption of CO on W(110) surfaces was studied using thermal desorption spectroscopy (TDS), and core and valence level spectroscopy. At 120 K, CO forms a tilted structure at lower coverages (α₁), whereas it adsorbs normal to the surface at higher coverages (α₂). Tilted structures have been suggested to be precursors of dissociative chemisorption; however, experimental evidence is provided for the non-dissociative chemisorption of CO at temperatures above 900 K (which is referred to as the β-state): TDS shows first order desorption kinetics. The core and valence level spectra of O/W(110) and those of β-CO/W(110) are different. Most importantly, the 4σ molecular orbital of CO can be identified in the valence level spectra of the β-CO.
