Objectives : This study was conducted to evaluate the reliability and the validity of the Korean version of the Scale to Assessment Unawareness of Mental Disorder (SUMD-K). Methods : The subjects were 55 schizophrenic patients between ages of 26 and 58 who were recruited from the psychiatric unit of the university hospital and the out-patient clinic. The SUMD-K and insight scale of PANSS were applied to the patients. Results : The range of inter-rater (Spearman's rho) of the general items of SUMD-K were .97-.98 on the current illness and .58-.98 on the past illness. The correlation coefficient between the sum and the general items of the SUMD-K showed high scores. The concurrent validity between SUMD-K and insight item of PANSS was high (scores between .59-.96). However, the reliability and the validity of the attribution items of symptoms showed low scores compared to the current symptoms. Conclusion : The SUMD-K was confirmed in its reliability and validity. It can be a useful clinician-rating scale for evaluating insight in schizophrenic patients as well as patients with other neuropsychiatric conditions.

Two genetic loci, PKD1 and PKD2, have been identified as being responsible for ADPKD, but the presence of an intrafamilial clinical diversity suggests that there are disease-modifying loci. We studied the associations between polymorphism in the ecNOS gene, which are known to be associated with chronic tubulointerstitial and vascular changes, and ADPKD progression in Korean patients. A total of 112 individuals who had ADPKD and 41 normal control subjects were genotyped by PCR-RFLP, the Glu298Asp variant of ecNOS gene was discriminated with MboI. The distribution of the alleles for the ecNOS Glu298Asp polymorphism in ADPKD was: G 88 %, T 12 %, which was similar to the result of Korean population (95:5, p = 0.128) but different from Western controls (65:35, p = 0.000). No differences were found between the CRF and the non-CRF groups (p = 1.000) or the early hypertension and the normotension groups (p = 1.000). In conclusion, our results suggest that the polymorphism at Glu298Asp of ecNOS has no association with the renal progression in Korean ADPKD patients.

In this paper, we propose a new time-frequency based analysis method that monitors the state of the high temperature superconducting (HTS) cable system in a real-time manner and detects the current imbalance of HTS cable system. The new time-frequency-based method utilizes the cross Wigner–Ville distribution to analyze the time-frequency localized phase difference of the reflected signal, which varies depending on the insulation characteristics of the HTS cable system. Also, a real-world AC 22.9 kV 50 MVA HTS cable system and a current source are used to validate the performance of the new monitoring method in order to detect current imbalance phenomenon.

A high-temperature superconducting (HTS) cable system with the 22.9 kV, 50 MVA, and 410 m length is installed and operated at 154 kV Icheon substation of Korea Electric Power Corporation (KEPCO). Unfortunately, it is a difficult task to diagnose and monitor electrical and thermal characteristics of the HTS cable system in a real-time manner. In order to protect operational failures of grid-connected HTS cable systems, this paper proposes time-frequency domain reflectometry (TFDR) and analysis techniques, i.e., time-frequency cross correlation and instantaneous frequency estimation. To verify the performance of the proposed method, the temperature is changed via the cryogenic refrigeration system and the status of the grid-connected HTS cable is monitored via TFDR in a real-time manner.

For the electrical insulation of a high-temperature superconducting (HTS) cable, wrapped polypropylene laminated paper (PPLP) tape is typically used. Unfortunately, it is possible that unexpected faults at insulation layers will be present in the cables as a result of either a problematic manufacturing process or an incomplete installation procedure. In order to protect against operational failures of grid-connected HTS cable systems, this paper proposes a nondestructive diagnostic technique, i.e., time-frequency domain reflectometry (TFDR), and focuses on the characteristic of HTS cable that caused the local insulation defects. To verify the performance of the proposed method, detection and localization of local insulation failure via TFDR are compared with traditional time-domain reflectometry. The experiments are conducted at room temperature and under liquid nitrogen in order to check the efficacy of the proposed method in varieties of HTS cable's conditions. In addition, to improve the accuracy of detection and localization, a methodology to analyze incident signals, which are composed of upchirp and downchirp signals, is presented.

Development of High Efficiency Boost DC/DC Converter For EV
Song, Sung-Geon,Lee, Sang-Hun,Song, Hyun-Jig,Park, Seong-Mi Journal of International Conference on Electrical 2014 Journal of international Conference on Electrical Vol.3 No.4
In this paper, reactorless high efficiency boost DC/DC converter for EV is proposed. In proposed converter, improves efficiency because decrease power loss when the switches are turned on/off using zero current switching (ZCS) at all switch of primary full bridge. By replacing reactance ingredients of L-C resonance circuit for ZCS with leakage inductance ingredients of high frequency transformer, it reduces system size and expense because of not add special reactor. For validity verification of proposed converter, in the paper implements simulation using PSIM and perform experiment by making 5KW DC/DC converter. In experimental results, efficiency of proposed converter conformed superiority.

The alteration in the pharmacokinetic behaviors of organic cations (OCs) in rats during acute inflammation (AI) was investigated. AI was induced by an intraperitoneal injection of lipopolysaccharide (LPS, 5 mg/kg) 24 hr prior to the start of pharmacokinetic studies. Tributylmethylammonium (TBuMA) was selected as a model OC since it is largely excreted into bile, and is neither metabolized nor binds to proteins in the body. When TBuMA was administered intravenously to AI rats at a dose of 6.6 $\mu$mole/kg, the AUC was increased, while biliary excretion (i.e., cumulative amount and apparent clearance) was decreased compared to normal rats. When TBuMA was administered intravenously to AI rats at a constant rate (i.e., a bolus injection at a dose of 1.5 $\mu$mole/kg followed by a constant infusion at a rate of 1.5 $\mu$mole/kg/hr for 165 min), steady-state concentrations of plasma and liver concentrations of TBuMA were increased significantly, while in vivo hepatic uptake (amount) and canalicular excretion (clearance) were decreased. These results are consistent with a hypothesis in which both the sinusoidal uptake of TBuMA into hepatocytes via the OCT1 and the canalicular excretion of the compound from hepatocytes via the P-gp are decreased by LPS-induced AI.

N/A Objectives : It is well known that oxidative stress of reactive oxygen species is involved in neuronal disease. The purpose of this study was to examine the cytotoxicity of glucose oxidase(GO) and protective effect of Ramulus et Uncus Uncariae(REUU) on GO- induced cytotoxicity in the cultured cerebral neurons of mouse. Methods : Neurototoxicity of GO and protective effect of REUU were done by MTT assay, after cerebral neurons were cultured in the media containing 1-40 mU/ml CO for 4 hours. Results : GO decreased cell viability in dose-and time-dependent mannner, and REUU increased cell viability decreased by C d induced cytotoxicity in these cultures. Conclusion : From these results. Go showed neurotoxicity, and REUU is very effective in preventing GO-mediated cytotoxicity in cultured mouse cerebral neurons.
