Preferential Vaporization Impact on Near Limit Combustion Behaviors

In practical gas turbine engines, the use of multi-component liquid fuels involves complicated multi-phase combustion behaviors. Specifically, near-limit combustion behaviors can be susceptible to the change of chemical characteristics during the vaporization of multi-component liquid fuel injected into the system, defined as preferential vaporization. In this study, flame flashback and diffusion flame extinction were observed with sprayed liquid fuels to investigate the impact of preferential vaporization in a spray burner and counterflow burner combined with it.
