Floating-Gate Coupling Canceller for Multi-Level Cell NAND Flash

<P>Floating-gate coupling occurs due to voltage changes in neighboring floating-gates. Coupling noise is difficult to overcome because of its non-linear property. We propose a coupling canceller for cancelling the coupling effect in multi-level cell NAND flash memory, and compare its performance with threshold detection. Simulation results show that the proposed floating-gate coupling canceller is an effective scheme for suppressing coupling noise.</P>
SBISurban-Secure Urban Bus Information System based on Smart Devices

Bus information system (BIS) has been developed for networking passengers with bus companies that provides public transportation services. The BIS, also denoted as BISgeneralized, supports a passenger with personalized and real time bus information services in all phases of a journey. Today’s BISgeneralized encompasses multiple technologies, including advanced visual displays, public address, emergency intercommunications, digital surveillance systems, IP networks, wireless networks, video streaming, coders, decoders and many more. These systems deliver real time bus information seamlessly on vehicles and in stations, while they are controlled and managed from a single control center. However, lots of small bus companies’ services like urban city’s bus company or small organization’s bus could not afford to operate the profound services to the passenger due to the budget of the city, which requires complicated infrastructure. To provide the BIS services with cheap cost, this paper proposes a secure urban BIS, denoted by SBISurban, based on smart devices and explains the security issues related to the system operation. The SBISurban is to reduce the cost and to ensure security and privacy from the BISgeneralized. The SBISurban is secure from various attacks, provides privacy and has good properties compared with the other systems.

Bacteriophages, bacteria-infecting viruses, have been recently reconsidered as a biological control tool for preventing bacterial pathogens. Erwinia amylovora and E. pyrifoliae cause fire blight and black shoot blight disease in apple and pear, respectively. In this study, the bacteriophage phiEaP-8 was isolated from apple orchard soil and could efficiently and specifically kill both E. amylovora and E. pyrifoliae. This bacteriophage belongs to the Podoviridae family. Whole genome analysis revealed that phiEaP-8 carries a 75,929 bp genomic DNA with 78 coding sequences and 5 tRNA genes. Genome comparison showed that phiEaP-8 has only 85% identity to known bacteriophages at the DNA level. PhiEaP-8 retained lytic activity up to $50^{\circ}C$, within a pH range from 5 to 10, and under 365 nm UV light. Based on these characteristics, the bacteriophage phiEaP-8 is novel and carries potential to control both E. amylovora and E. pyrifoliae in apple and pear.
Comparison of the Message-Passing Algorithm SCCC and LDPC code for PMR Channel

In storage system, the higher density perpendicular magnetic recording (PMR) channel requires more advanced signal setection method to satisfy the bit error rate performance. Recently the iterative decoding is in the limelight part of the coding theory for the storage system. Famous iterative codes are the LDPC code and the Turbo code. In this paper, we consider the serial concatenated convolutional code (SCCC) with the messagepassing algorithm. LDPC code has the inner iterations by using Sum-Product Algorithm (SPA). The iterative decoding of LDPC code leads to increase the performance of the PMR channel. Meanwhile, the SCCC system has no inner iterations. Therefore we consider the channel iteration between channel detector and channel decoder in SCCC system. This iterative decoding scheme expects to improve the performance of the PMR channel. We increase the number of the channel iterations in order to improve the performance.
Holographic Data Storage Channel Model With Intensity Factor

<P>We consider the holographic data storage channel model which includes intensity factor. We define the intensity factor as the degree of the diminishing phenomenon of the read page and model the diminishing phenomenon using a simple page masking filter. Thus, the page masking filter coefficients are determined by the intensity factor. We discuss the performance of the channel model employing one-dimensional (1-D) PRML with two-dimensional (2-D) PR equalizer when the degree of blur is 1.7.</P>
수직자기기록 채널에서 터보등화기 구조를 이용한 순환 구조적 길쌈 부호의 성능

수직자기기록 채널에서의 검출 기법으로는 잡음 예측 최대 유사도 검출 (NPML, Noise-Predictive Maximum Likelihood Detection) 기법을 사용한다. 하지만, 더 높은 기록 밀도의 요구로 더 이상 잡음 예측 최대 유사도 검출 기법을 이용하여 검출이 어려워지게 되었다. 따라서 높은 기록밀도에서도 성능 이득을 얻을 수 있는 부호화 기법들이 연구되고 있다. 본 논문에서는 복잡도가 비교적 적은 순환 구조적 길쌈 부호를 부호기로 사용하였으며 성능 이득을 얻기 위하여 터보등화기 구조를 이용하였다. 또한, 다양한 기록 밀도에서 터보등화기 구조를 이용한 순환 구조적 길쌈 부호가 어떠한 성능을 보여주는지 비교하였다. 잡음환경은 80%의 지터 잡음과 20%의 백색 가우시안 잡음으로 실험하였다. For perpendicular magnetic recording (PMR) channels, noise-predictive maximum likelihood (NPML) detection method has been used. But, it is hard to expect improving the performance when the bit density is increased. Hence, we exploit the coding methods which has good performance. In this paper, we show the performance of the recursive systematic convolutional (RSC) codes with turbo-equalization method with different channel bit densities. The noise model is 80% jitter noise and 20% AWGN.
