        Sesquiterpene Components from the Flower Buds of Magnolia fargesii

        From the Chinese crude drug shin-i, the flower buds of Magnolia fargesii, four sesquiterpene, oplopanoe (1), oplodiol (2), homalomenol A (3) and $1{\beta},4{\beta},7{\alpha}$-trihydroxyeudesmane (4) were isolated. These structures were elucidated and the ${13}^C-NMR$ chemical shifts of these compounds were revised by means of various 2D-NMR techniques.

        Authorst ried retrospective analysis to find out general characteristics of the patients undergoing disability evaluation at the department of psychiatry Chungnam National University Hospital from 1986 to 1990. The subjects, who were suffered from psychiatric complications due to head trauma by traffic accident, were 66 patients and they were classified depending on the demographic status, situations of traffic accident, evalaution periods, whether or not perform operation, and rates of evaluated disability and diagnosis. The results were summarized as follows. 1. General background of the subjects were as follows. 1) The frequency order of request were court(59 %) and insurance company(19.7%). 2) The place of accident was more common in large city, common accident vehicle were bus, truck, and cabs. 3) The season of accident were more common in Spring and Autumn. 2. Male(71.2%) was more common than in female and more common in the age group of 5-19 years old(37.9%). The most frequent job of the patients was labour, and the education level was more common in the graduates of elementary school(47.9% ). 3. The interval between accident and evaluation was most frequent in 12-23 months(47.5%), and duration of evaluation was mostly 14 to 21 days. Performed brain operation was 31.8% and non-operated patients was 50.0%. The rates of disability according to the McBride's disability evaluation were mostly belonged to the group of beow 40%(74.1%). 4. The final diagnosis after evaluation were organic personality disorder(45.5%) and dementia(31.8%).

        순열 및 구개열 환자의 외과적 치료방법에 관한 임상적 연구

        In order to find the distribution, causes and treatments of cleft lip and/or palate, I analyzed 113 patients of cleft lip and/or palate who were treated in the Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, School of Dentistry, Wonkwang University, Iksan, Chunbuk, KOREA from September 1984 to August 1995. The obtained results were as follows. 1. In total 113 patients of cleft lip and/or palate, male patients were 63 cases (56%) and female patients were 50 cases(44%). 2. In distribution of cleft lip and/or palate, cleft lip patients were 30 cases (27%), cleft palate patient were 23 cases(20%) and cleft lip and palate patients were 60 cases(53%). 3. Unilateral cleft lip patients (78 cases: 87%) were larger than bilateral cleft lip. In unilateral cleft lip patients, lip side cleft lip patients (54 cases: 50%) were larger than right side cleft lip patients (33 cases: 37%). 4. Possible causes of cleft lip and/or palate were related with familial tendency, drug intoxication, malnutrition, old maternal age, stress and hypoxia during 4-8 weeks of pregnancy period. 5. The favorite treated method of cleft lip was Millard rotation-advancement method. probably the most popular operated period was 3 months. 6. The useful operating technique of cleft palate was Wardill V-Y flap method. The most popular period has been 18 to 24 months. 7. In 11 patients with velopharyngeal insufficiency, hypernasality decreased by superior based pharyngeal flap pharyngoplasty. 8. Cleft alveolus was treated with autogenous and allogeneic bone graft. The most appropriate operation period was 9 to 11 years.

      • 외국어 학습에서 일반 언어불안과 독해불안과의 관계

        This study is to investigate the relationship between generally recognized language anxiety and reading anxiety in foreign language learning. The subjects of this article consisted of 77 lst grade middle school students and 82 2nd grade high school students. The total of 159 participants took part in this study. Two inventories assessed two different anxiety levels: the Foreign Language Classroom Anxiety Scale and Reading Anxiety Scale. For statistical analysis, the analysis of variable and correlation analysis were applied by using the SPSS computer program. The results of from the statistical analysis are as follows. · The relationship between generally recognized language anxiety and reading anxiety scale were highly related to each other(r=736). · A statistical correlation was not found between boys and girls, and between middle school and high school students in language and reading anxiety. · The reading comprehension assessment measures consisted of the translation of sentences and a multiple-choice test. The results indicated that more highly anxious students(those with high scores on reading anxiety inventory) tended to take less academic achievements than did those participants who claimed to experience minimal anxiety. · The listening assessment measures were multiple-choice tests. The results indicated that more highly anxious students(those with high scores on language anxiety inventory) tended to get less grades than did those participants who claimed to experience minimal anxiety. · This paper advocates that language anxiety and reading anxiety can play a significant causal role in creating individual differences in both language reading and listening.

        Many Koreans from different areas fought against the invasion of imperial Japan to Korea after 1895, and among them the struggle of righteous army was most intense. Shortly after the imperial government of Japan established a Inspection-General, a righteous army led by ex-vice minister Minn Jong-Shik took a brace, and then Confucianists and farmers all over the country stood against the Japanese army. officials and merchants. The quarrels of Korean righteous army elevated to a higher level when the Korean regular army joined it in August, 1907. Inspite of the Japanese big offensives in Mt. Chiri areas, the fields, coasts, and islands of the Southein part of Korea, (Honam) from September to November, 1909 their resistance continued. Especially the guerilla warfare became a precedent of present-day guerilla warefare. While an army of righteousness moved into Kando became a main force of the Korean Independent Army, the remaining force in Korea continued their fighting against the imperialist for the Independence of Korea.

Adaptive instructional systems can be characterized as including the following; a) an initial diagnostic assessment of each student in reference to a given learning task, b) on-task assessment that iteratively updates the diagnosis and prescription, c) determination of the amount of instruction based on student progress towards mastery, d) selection of the sequence of instruction by a response-sensitivity strategy according to cognitive processing needs, e) adjustment of the moment-to-moment instructional time so as to reduce off-task learning time, and f) providing continuous advise to the student on learning progress and learning needs. The strategies for adaptive instruction are adapting the amount of instruction, sequence of instruction, instructional display time, advisement information, and feedback. These strategies are based upon design of adaptive instruction. In this study, researchers developed adaptive CBI program, based on sequence of content and example difficulty for coordinate concept learning. Content sequence, the first independent variable, consisted of two levels: generalization and discrimination. Example difficulty, second variable, consisted of two levels: systemacally rated difficulty level and randomly rated difficulty level. This study focused on adptive CBI programs, that is, generalization/systematical difficulty strategy and discrimination/systematical difficulty strategy. These programs would facilitate to determine effectively optimal amount and sequence of instruction to each student based on various student characteristics and learning needs.

At the end of the Yi dynasty, facing the critical situation of oar country, many armed volunteers struggled to drive away the Japanese out of our country, and this marked a conspicuous point in the history of Korean independence movement. The struggle was a stimulus to independence spirit of our nation, and aroused the spirit of sovereignty in the heart of Korean people. Later, the spirit of struggle. which was inherited to the stage of anti-Japan resistance. constituted the fundamental basis of independence army. It was also a principle keynote of independence movement both in and out of Korea, and performed the role of spiritual prop in the independence movement under the rule of Japan. On August 1, 1907, Japan compulsorily disbanded Korean army which was one of the most important problems in the process of annexation. Dissatisfied with the compulsory disbandment, most of the angry soldiers scattered all over the country and joined the active volunteers who had already been participating in the resistance movement since the year of 1895, and all of them commenced fiercer anti-Japan struggle and resistance movement. Cheong-Mi mi volunteers, conjoined army of volunteers and regular soldiers, was really an underlying spiritual prop in the history of modern independence movement in Korea. Min Keung-Ho volunteers appeared as a righteous army assuming the role of leading and energy-giving army of the nation. in this respect, Cheong Mi volunteers has the historical significance in the history of modern independence movement. At the same time, we can recognize the true significance of Min Keung-Ho and his volunteers in this respect. In conclusion, we cannot deny that Min Keung-Ho made a great contribution to the volunteer movement and assumed a very important role.

        In this thesis, I try to write on the patriotism of public-spirited man, Song Jean-do. He was respectable resistant against Japaneses Rule. Nevertheless, he was not proud of his merit and didn't want to be recognized by other people. He wanted to he a protecting deity even after death, consequently he was buried n an undersea tomb in compliance with his will. When he died, his body was cremated according to the Buddhist funeral ritual, and the ashes were buried in Dae Wang Am (Undersea tomb of fling Munmu, Silla Dynasty) Eastern Coast. It may be that he was transformed inio a dragon to protect Korea and her people. His whole life dedicated to upholding of national spirit has been a valuable lesson to show his posterity the way how to lead honorable life. In this respect we find Song Ron-do's true character.

        The Grass is Singing, Doris Lessing's firstwork, is a masterpiece of contemporary literature. It depicts the conflict between group and individual, between races, between classes, and feminine problem. Because this work is a virgin one, it will contain more of the author's unconscious and it will resemble author's autobiography. The pu!pose of this journal is analyzing Lessingin terms of psychoanalysis, by comparing the life of the author with the life of the character of this work. The outline is as follows: Lessing sees his father as an incompetent, mean and brutal one. This influences her attitude toward men, toward marriage, and the feminine thought. Oedipus Complex can also be found in this work. Lessingsees his mother as either dominating and over-controlling one, or loving and caring one. She also identifies her mother in many respects. This influences the development of her feminity and motivation to be an author. Lessing sees marriage as a negative one. This results from the experiences of the marriage of her parents and her own. She may be sexually immature, the cause of which is suspected of her mother's obsessive education, the education of convent school, and the lack of peer interaction with opposite sex. Lessing's personality is decisive. and she has strong superego. She has neurotic trait or might have experienced neurosis. But she has so healthy ego function as to sublimate neurosis to masterpiece.
