The objective of this experiment was to assess the use of different vitamin D metabolites in the feed of broiler chickens and the effects of the metabolites on performance, bone parameters and meat quality. A total of 952 one-day-old male broiler chicks were distributed in a completely randomised design, with four treatments, seven replicates and 34 birds per experimental unit. The treatments consisted of four different sources of vitamin D included in the diet, $D_3$, $25(OH)D_3$, $1,25(OH)_2D_3$, and $1{\alpha}(OH)D_3$, providing 2000 and 1600 IU of vitamin D in the starter (1 to 21 d) and growth phases (22 to 42 d), respectively. Mean weight, feed:gain and weight gain throughout the rearing period were less in animals fed $1{\alpha}(OH)D_3$ when compared with the other treatments (p<0.05). No significant differences were noted among the treatments (p>0.05) for various bone parameters. Meat colour differed among the treatments (p>0.05). All of the metabolites used in the diets, with the exception of $1{\alpha}(OH)D_3$, can be used for broiler chickens without problems for performance and bone quality, however, some aspects of meat quality were affected.

BACKGROUND: Stress echocardiography has a 72%–85% sensitivity and an 80%–95% specificity. In this study, we characterized patients who received a false-positive stress echocardiogram result. METHODS: A total of 5,256 patients underwent a stress echocardiogram (induced by exercise, dobutamine, or dipyridamole) between 2009 to 2018, and 405 patients (7.7%) received a positive result. Among the positive patients, 300 underwent coronary angiography within 12 months, and these patients were included in this study (mean age = 64.9 ± 9.4 years, 230 men [76.7%]). Coronary artery disease was diagnosed by stenosis ≥50% in any epicardial coronary artery. Clinical and echocardiographic variables were compared between patients with true- and false-positive stress echocardiogram results. RESULTS: Seventy-two patients (24%) had a false-positive stress echocardiogram, with similar rates across stressor types (p = 0.574). Patients with false positives were less frequently men (63.9% vs. 80.7%, p = 0.003), had lower diabetes mellitus prevalence (15.3% vs. 45.6%, p = 0.001), were similar to true positive patients with regard to body-mass index, arterial hypertension prevalence, hyperlipidemia and smoking, and had lower pre-test probability of coronary artery disease (23% vs. 32%, p = 0.016). The wall motion score index (WMSI) was higher in the true-positive stress group, and wall motion abnormalities were more frequent in the apical segments (70.5% vs. 56.7%, p = 0.034). In a multivariable predictive model, men (odds ratio [OR] = 2.994), diabetes (OR = 5.440), and peak WMSI (OR = 10.690) were associated with a true-positive result. CONCLUSIONS: Twenty-four percent of our study population received a false-positive stress echocardiogram result, with similar rates across stressor types. Patients with true-positive stress echocardiogram results are more likely to be men, diabetic, and have a high peak WMSI.
HOW SOCIAL ROBOTS ENHANCE MY WELL-BEING IN THE HOSPITALITY INDUSTRY
Ana Filipa Rodrigues,Sandra Maria Correia Loureiro,Jo?o Marques Guerreiro 글로벌지식마케팅경영학회 2023 Global Marketing Conference Vol.2023 No.07
Technologies such as Artificial Intelligence (AI) or Robotics are emerging as a new way of improving services, readjusting and impacting all business industries and relationships among people (Loureiro et al., 2021; Makridakis, 2017; Mingotto et al., 2020). The hospitality industry is no exception to this (Mingotto et al., 2020) since a quick growth in the use of robots and AI in this industry has been seen, registering a turnover of 249 million U.S. dollars (International Federation of Robots, 2021). This demonstrates that these technologies have a huge potential to grow, being relevant to deeply study them. Since very few of the existing studies highlight the robot-human interactions, further studies on the enhancement of human well-being through transhumanistic technologies, close relationship marketing capabilities, and the evolution of the engagement process between humans and AI-enabled machines are needed (Loureiro et al., 2021). To address the existing gaps and consider Susan Fournier’s (1998) study on customer-brand relationships, the main goal of this study is to find support for this researcher by associating customer-brand relationship studies with a customer-robot relationship. It also aims to understand individuals’ attitudes towards different types of social robots and the relationship process between social robots and humans, in the hospitality industry, and the influence of identification in the creation of attachment, connection, and commitment. The possible contributions of the customer-robot emotional relationship on customers’ feelings of wellness were also studied.

A project called MACASTAB (co-financed by the Interreg Mac 2014-20 program) is being developed, by a group of technicians from the Canarias, Azores, Madeira and Cabo Verde archipelagos. This project aims to prepare a methodological guide for the natural risk management produced by the instability of volcanic slopes and talus in Macaronesia archipelagos. One of its tasks is the development of charts that can be applied in the referred archipelagos in order to do an expeditious evaluation of slope stability. Given the specificities of the geology of the Azores and Madeira islands, the charts were supported by limit equilibrium analysis methods (e.g. Morgenstern-Price) applied to slopes whose constitution is predominantly formed by soils (an unusual situation in other archipelagos that are in the project). Results of shear strength parameters obtained for volcanic soils on both archipelagos by triaxial compression tests and direct shear tests are presented. Empirical correlation between friction angle and particle size distribution was found with a coefficient of adjustment of 93%. That correlation shows a relationship between the angle of internal friction of a given material and the percentage of gravel and sand. For the preparation of these charts, several stability analyzes were performed with different scenarios (slope gradient and heights, and shear strength parameters), in order to determine the safety factor of slopes in a simple and fast way in the field.

Cholangiocarcinoma is a heterogeneous group of aggressive tumors that correspond to the second most common primary liver tumor. They can be classified according to their anatomical position concerning the biliary tree, and each subtype demonstrates different behavior and treatment. A 38-year-old male patient presenting solely right lumbar pain was diagnosed with a 7 cm hepatic tumor involving segments I, Iva, and VIII associated with involvement of the hepatic veins. He underwent a bloc resection of hepatic segments I, II, III, IV, partial V, partial VII, and VIII; right, middle, and left hepatic veins; and inferior vena cava segment, with perfusion of the remaining liver in situ with a preservation solution. As the patient had a large accessory inferior right hepatic vein draining the remaining liver, no reimplantation of hepatic veins was necessary. He remained clinically stable in outpatient follow-up, with excellent performance status—current survival of 2 years 6 months after surgical treatment.

The present work is presently being carried out at Lajedo parish, located southwest on Flores Island (Azores archipelago), a place where a series of landslides with slow kinematic characteristics have been observed, some of which put at risk people and property. In November of 2016, a hydrological and geotechnical monitoring network was installed at three landslides (#L1, #L2 and #L3), using vibrating wire and standpipe piezometers, tiltmeters, inclinometers and a rainfall station. Based on the acquired data in the last 3 years at Lajedo parish, and the physical and mechanical characterization of the deposits, through laboratory tests, it was possible to carry out a slope stability analysis to evaluation the stability conditions and the propensity for new instability situations based on limit equilibrium methods. Beside this, one of the monitored landslide (e.g., #L2) was investigated by modelling the ground water infiltration process and pore water pressure variations using a finite element seepage analysis. The effects of these variations were the input to compute the slope stability analyses over the time in order to analyse the factors that promoted slope instability. This study is part of a research project known as Decisionlarm, whose main objective is to develop a multi-technical monitoring system to support decision-making based on alert and alarm levels in the unstable zone by evaluating the effect of precipitation and the oscillations of water level in the potential failure planes capable of triggering landslides.

Purpose: This study was performed to evaluate and compare the radiopacity of dentin, enamel, and 8 restorative composites on conventional radiograph and digital images with different resolutions. Materials and Methods: Specimens were fabricated from 8 materials and human molars were longitudinally sectioned 1.0 mm thick to include both enamel and dentin. The specimens and tooth sections were imaged by conventional radiograph using #4 sized intraoral film and digital images were taken in high speed and high resolution modes using a phosphor storage plate. Densitometric evaluation of the enamel, dentin, restorative materials, a lead sheet, and an aluminum step wedge was performed on the radiographic images. For the evaluation, the Al equivalent (mm) for each material was calculated. The data were analyzed using one-way ANOVA and Tukey's test (p<0.05), considering the material factor and then the radiographic method factor, individually. Results: The high speed mode allowed the highest radiopacity, while the high resolution mode generated the lowest values. Furthermore, the high resolution mode was the most efficient method for radiographic differentiation between restorative composites and dentin. The conventional radiograph was the most effective in enabling differentiation between enamel and composites. The high speed mode was the least effective in enabling radiographic differentiation between the dental tissues and restorative composites. Conclusion: The high speed mode of digital imaging was not effective for differentiation between enamel and composites. This made it less effective than the high resolution mode and conventional radiographs. All of the composites evaluated showed radiopacity values that fit the ISO 4049 recommendations.
Antihyperglycemic Effect of Quercetin in Ovariectomized Rats Treated with Tamoxifen
Fernanda Coleraus Silva,Isabella Calvo Bramatti,Adrieli Gorlin Toledo,Fernando Marques Salles,Ana Maria Itinose,Carla Brugin Marek 한국식품영양과학회 2017 Journal of medicinal food Vol.20 No.3
Tamoxifen is effective in breast cancer therapy in postmenopausal women; however, it causes adverse effects that alter the glycolytic pathway and induce hyperglycemia. Quercetin, a flavonoid with antioxidant potential, inhibits butyrylcholinesterase (BuChE), which is positively associated with hyperglycemia. Therefore, this study investigated the effect of quercetin on tamoxifen-induced hyperglycemia, using BuChE activity as a bioindicator in adult ovariectomized Wistar rats. The ovariectomized rats were treated orally for 14 days with different concentrations of quercetin (2.5, 7.5, 22.5, and 67.5 mg.kg−1 b.w.) and tamoxifen (5 mg.kg−1 b.w.). Subsequently, they were euthanized; blood and tissue samples were collected. The following biochemical parameters were analyzed: plasma glucose levels and BuChE activity in the plasma, liver, intestine, and adipose tissue. The most effective dose of quercetin in reducing hyperglycemia was 22.5 mg.kg−1 b.w. (Que/TAM 4.5/1, P < .00000), although the doses of 2.5 (Que/TAM 0.5/1, P < .05) and 7.5 mg.kg−1 b.w. (Que/TAM 1.5/1, P < .05) were also effective. The BuChE activity decreased in the intestine at all tested doses of quercetin coadministered with tamoxifen (P < .01); however, in adipose tissue, there was a biphasic activity with a decrease (P < .05) and increase (P < .05) in activity at doses of 7.5 and 22.5 mg.kg−1 b.w. of quercetin, respectively. However, the correlation between BuChE and glucose levels was not significant (P > .05). In summary, the findings of the present study suggest that quercetin when associated with tamoxifen decreases in plasma glucose levels. Furthermore, in these cases, BuChE should not be used as an indicator of hyperglycemia.
