COVID-19 and pancreatitis: A review of the potential association
Asad Ali Kerawala,Bhagwan Das,Rabika Fatima,Ahda Solangi 소화기인터벤션의학회 2023 International journal of gastrointestinal interven Vol.12 No.1
Originally thought to be a respiratory pathogen, severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2), the virus that causes coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19), has been shown to cause a dizzying array of symptoms, including all major organ systems of the human body. As time elapsed, new strains of the virus have emerged, validating concerns about genetic mutation. No single treatment has proven beneficial in treating the consequences, and the world has been left at the mercy of this deadly pathogen. It has been proven that COVID-19 can cause strokes, myocardial infarcts, mesenteric infarcts, acute limb ischemia, and a wide array of other symptomatology. This review aimed to evaluate whether there exists an association between COVID-19 and pancreatitis. Forty publications (34 case reports and 4 case series) were included in the review. In total, 44 cases of acute pancreatitis (38 cases of acute edematous pancreatitis and 6 cases of necrotizing pancreatitis) in COVID-19 patients without any predisposing factors have been published since January 2020. Fortunately, only 4 (9.1%) of these patients were reported to have died. Although the exact mechanism by which COVID-19 causes pancreatitis is still unclear, studies so far have reported it as a multifactorial phenomenon. COVID-19 associated pancreatic injury is thought to involve direct cellular damage via local replication of SARS-CoV-2 within pancreatic cells, as they express angiotensin-converting enzyme 2 receptors even more strongly than lung cells. Our review concludes that acute pancreatitis should be kept in the differential list of all COVID-19 patients with gastrointestinal manifestations, especially in patients with acute abdomen.
Techno-economic design of a grid-tied Photovoltaic system for a residential building
Asad A. Naqvi,Talha Bin Nadeem,Ahsan Ahmed,Muhammad Uzair,S. Asad Ali Zaidi Techno-Press 2022 Advances in energy research Vol.8 No.1
Increasing cost of electricity due to rising price of fuel is one of the local community's main issues. In this research, switching of grid dependent system to the grid-tied Photovoltaic (PV) system with net metering for a residential building is proposed. The system is designed by considering the maximum energy demand of the building. The designed system is analyzed using RETScreen on technical, economic and environmental grounds. It is found that the system is able to produce 12,000 kWh/year. The system is capable to fulfill the electricity demand of the building during day time and is also capable to sell the energy to the local grid causing the electric meter to run in reverse direction. During night time, electricity will be purchased from grid, and electric meter will run in the forward direction. The system is economically justified with a payback period of only 3 years with net present value of PKR. 4,758,132. Also, the system is able to reduce 7.2 tons of CO2 not produced in the entire life of the project.
INTEGRAL REPRESENTATION OF SOME BASIC K-HYPERGEOMETRIC FUNCTIONS
ALI, ASAD,IQBAL, MUHAMMAD ZAFAR The Korean Society for Computational and Applied M 2022 Journal of applied mathematics & informatics Vol.40 No.1-2
In this paper we give a simple and direct proof of an Euler integral representation for a special class of q+1Fq,k k-hypergeometric functions for q ≥ 2. The values of certain 3F2,k and 4F3,k functions at $x=\frac{1}{k}$, some of which can be derived using other methods. We may conclude that for k = 1 the results are reduced to [3].

The main aim of this paper is to introduce and study the generalized Laguerre polynomials and prove that these polynomials are characterized by the generalized hypergeometric function. Also we investigate some properties and formulas for these polynomials such as explicit representations, generating functions, recurrence relations, differential equation, Rodrigues formula, and orthogonality.
Learning Automata Based Multipath Multicasting in Cognitive Radio Networks
Asad Ali,Junaid Qadir,Adeel Baig 한국통신학회 2015 Journal of communications and networks Vol.17 No.4
Cognitive radio networks (CRNs) have emerged as a promising solution to the problem of spectrum under utilization and artificial radio spectrum scarcity. The paradigm of dynamic spectrum access allows a secondary network comprising of secondary users (SUs) to coexist with a primary network comprising of licensed primary users (PUs) subject to the condition that SUs do not cause any interference to the primary network. Since it is necessary for SUs to avoid any interference to the primary network, PU activity precludes attempts of SUs to access the licensed spectrum and forces frequent channel switching for SUs. This dynamic nature of CRNs, coupled with the possibility that an SU may not share a common channel with all its neighbors, makes the task of multicast routing especially challenging. In this work, we have proposed a novel multipath on-demand multicast routing protocol for CRNs. The approach of multipath routing, although commonly used in unicast routing, has not been explored for multicasting earlier. Motivated by the fact that CRNs have highly dynamic conditions, whose parameters are often unknown, the multicast routing problem is modeled in the reinforcement learning based framework of learning automata. Simulation results demonstrate that the approach of multipath multicasting is feasible, with our proposed protocol showing a superior performance to a baseline stateof- the-art CRN multicasting protocol.
Channel Clustering and QoS Level Identification Scheme for Multi-Channel Cognitive Radio Networks
Ali, Amjad,Yaqoob, Ibrar,Ahmed, Ejaz,Imran, Muhammad,Kwak, Kyung Sup,Ahmad, Adnan,Hussain, Syed Asad,Ali, Zulfiqar IEEE 2018 IEEE communications magazine Vol.56 No.4
<P>The increasing popularity of wireless services and devices necessitates high bandwidth requirements; however, spectrum resources are not only limited but also heavily underutilized. Multiple license channels that support the same levels of QoS are desirable to resolve the problems posed by the scarcity and inefficient use of spectrum resources in multi-channel cognitive radio networks (MCRNs). One reason is that multimedia services and applications have distinct, stringent QoS requirements. However, due to a lack of coordination between primary and secondary users, identifying the QoS levels supported over available licensed channels has proven to be problematic and has yet to be attempted. This article presents a novel Bayesian non-parametric channel clustering scheme, which identifies the QoS levels supported over available license channels. The proposed scheme employs the infinite Gaussian mixture model and collapsed Gibbs sampler to identify the QoS levels from the feature space of the bit rate, packet delivery ratio, and packet delay variation of licensed channels. Moreover, the real measurements of wireless data traces and comparisons with baseline clustering schemes are used to evaluate the performance of the proposed scheme.</P>

This study pioneers the exploration of creep and shrinkage behavior in ambient-cured geopolymer concrete (GPC), a vital yet under-researched area in concrete technology. Focusing on the influence of sodium hydroxide (NaOH) solution concentration, the research utilizes low calcium fly ash (Class-F) and alkaline solutions to prepare two sets of GPC. The results show distinct patterns in compressive strength development and dry shrinkage reduction, with a 14 M NaOH solution demonstrating a 26.5% lower dry shrinkage than the 16 M solution. The creep behavior indicated a high initial strain within the first 7 days, significantly influenced by curing conditions and NaOH concentration. This study contributes to the existing knowledge by providing a deeper understanding of the time-dependent properties of GPC, which is crucial for optimizing its performance in structural applications.

( Asad Ali ),( Muhammad ),( Zafar Iqbal ) 호남수학회 2021 호남수학학술지 Vol.43 No.1
The main object of the present paper is to introduce the generalized Laguerre matrix polynomials for two variables. We prove that these matrix polynomials are characterized by the generalized hypergeometric matrix function. An explicit representation, generating functions and some recurrence relations are obtained here. Moreover, these matrix polynomials appear as solution of a differential equation.
