Experimental Validation of an IoT Based Device Selective Power Cut mechanism Using Power Line Carrier Communication for Smart Management of Electricity

        Sumit Kumar Jindal,Kishan Kumar,Shulin Saraswat,Ajay Kumar,Sanjeev Kumar Raghuwanshi 대한전기학회 2021 Journal of Electrical Engineering & Technology Vol.16 No.1

There is a huge diff erence between electricity production and its demand. In order to meet the requirements, a selective power cut is carried out which is currently based on area and time. Although this is a simplistic solution, it has many drawbacks such as the area gets completely deprived of even the very basic appliances such as lights and fans, which do not contribute signifi cantly to the power consumption. This creates a need to come up with a solution so that no one gets deprived of using basic appliances at any time and still be able to reduce power consumption to fulfi ll the ever-growing demand. This work has dealt with the same by implementing a device selective protocol which can selectively cut power of particular devices depending on their energy rating, power rating, manufacturer etc. by the use of power line carrier communication. Hence, revolutionizing the whole concept of area selective power cut to device selective power cut. Since, IoT refers to a network of devices or “Things”, this work incorporates the basic principles of IoT by essentially creating a network of devices which can communicate with each other, over low bandwidth.

Spontaneous Rectal Perforation with Transanal Evisceration of the Small Bowel: A Rare Case Report

        Pal Ajay Kumar,Kumar Prasoon,Yadav Dhirendra,Kumar Awanish,Pahwa Harvinder Singh,Singh Krishna Kant 대한외상중환자외과학회 2022 Journal of Acute Care Surgery Vol.12 No.2

Transanal evisceration of the small bowel is a rare surgical emergency. Rectal perforation in such cases is usually due to an underlying rectal prolapse. We report a case of a middle aged (45 years) male with spontaneous rectal perforation and transanal evisceration of the small bowel. Approximately 150 cm of small bowel had eviscerated transanally and the patient required emergent abdominal exploration, reposition of the small bowel, and repair of the rectal perforation. Small bowel evisceration through the anal verge is an emergent condition and the aim was to prevent life threatening complications related to sepsis.

Performance Analysis of Refrigerants R1234yf, R1234ze and R134a in Ejector-Based Refrigeration Cycle

Ajay Kumar Yadav,Neeraj 대한설비공학회 2018 International Journal Of Air-Conditioning and Refr Vol.26 No.3

Performance enhancement of refrigeration and heat pump systems by cycle modification is an emerging research topic now-a-days to reduce the electricity consumption leading to mitigate the problems related to the environmental pollution by utility power plants. Due to no moving parts, low cost, simple structure and low maintenance requirements, the use of two-phase ejector has become a promising cycle modification recently. Use of ejector as an expansion device by replacing the throttle valve in the vapor compression refrigeration cycle seems to be one of the efficient ways to reduce the throttling losses or the expansion irreversibility in the refrigeration/heat pump cycle. Ejector also reduces the compressor work by raising the suction pressure to a level higher than that in the evaporator leading to the improvement of COP. The present work aims to evaluate the performance of an ejector based vapor compression refrigeration cycle under a wide range of operating conditions. Two newly proposed refrigerants i.e., R1234yf and R1234ze, and commonly used refrigerant R134a are considered for simulation and a comparative study has been carried out. A numerical model is developed and a parametric study of important parameters such as entrainment ratio, high side pressure (condenser pressure) and evaporator temperature are analyzed for the improvement of COP of the system. Results show that the COP of the R1234ze is highest compared to R1234yf and R134a for the given evaporating and condensing temperature.

OFF–ON Fluorescence Sensing of Fluoride by Donor–Antimony(V) Lewis Acids

        Kumar, Ajay,Yang, Mengxi,Kim, Minji,Gabbaï,, Franç,ois P.,Lee, Min Hyung American Chemical Society 2017 Organometallics Vol.36 No.24

<P>A series of triarylmethylstibonium Lewis acids of general formula [Ph2MeSb-(<I>p</I>-(C6H4))-FLUO]+ bearing a peripheral electron-rich fluorophore (FLUO = 10<I>H</I>-phenoxazine ([<B>3a</B>]+), diphenylamine ([<B>3b</B>]+), and 9<I>H</I>-carbazole ([<B>3c</B>]+)) have been synthesized and investigated for the fluorescence turn-on sensing of fluoride anions. Treatment of the stibonium cations with fluoride anions leads to the corresponding fluorostiboranes (<B>3a</B>-F–<B>3c</B>-F). While the stibonium cations are almost nonemissive, the fluorostiboranes display fluorophore-centered emissions arising from the corresponding π–π* excited state. The carbazole-containing derivative [<B>3c</B>]+ exhibits the most intense fluorescence turn-on response. It also displays a high binding constant (<I>K</I> > 107 M–1) in MeCN and shows compatibility with protic media such as MeOH (<I>K</I> = 950(±50) M–1). Computational studies aimed at identifying the origin of the turn-on response show that the excited state of the stibonium cations is best described as charge transfer in nature with the π system of the fluorophore acting as the donor and the π*−σ* system of the stibonium unit acting as the acceptor. This π(FLUO)−π*/σ*(Ph2MeSb-(<I>p</I>-(C6H4))) excited state is nonemissive, making these cations dark in the absence of fluoride anions. Conversion to the fluorostiboranes occurs via donation of a fluoride lone pair into the antimony-centered σ*. Formation of this Sb–F bond modifies the electronic structure of the platform and restores the emissive π–π* excited state of the fluorophore, thus accounting for the observed OFF–ON fluorescence response.</P><P><B>Graphic Abstract</B> <IMG SRC='http://pubs.acs.org/appl/literatum/publisher/achs/journals/content/orgnd7/2017/orgnd7.2017.36.issue-24/acs.organomet.7b00759/production/images/medium/om-2017-007593_0011.gif'></P><P><A href='http://pubs.acs.org/doi/suppl/10.1021/om7b00759'>ACS Electronic Supporting Info</A></P>

      • Model-Based Test-Suite Minimization using Modified Condition/Decision Coverage (MC/DC)

Ajay Kumar Jena,Santosh Kumar Swain,Durga Prasad Mohapatra 보안공학연구지원센터 2015 International Journal of Software Engineering and Vol.9 No.5

Testing is very expensive for high-assurance software, like commercial aircraft systems, weapon research, weather forecast, earthquake forecast, and software used for safety critical system. A small and simple flaw in the end product can be enough for destroying the entire effort of the developer with a huge unrecoverable damage to the society. For this reason, Federal Aviation Administration’s requirement is that, the test-suites should be comprises of Modified Condition/Decision Coverage (MC/DC) adequate. By using logic coverage criteria lots of flaws can be removed for safety critical software. MC/DC was proposed by NASA, and had been widely accepted in the field of testing. MC/DC is an effective verification technique, and helps to uncover safety faults. It is a challenge to minimize the number of test-suites when there is a partial change in the software. This can be achieved by using models. Unified Modeling Language (UML) not only helps to design software but also plays a vital role in detecting the faults early phase of design and in minimizing the test-suite. Existing test-suite minimization techniques investigated by different researchers may not be effective in minimizing MC/DC-adequate test-suites because they do not consider the complexity of the present software. A new approach for test-suite minimization is presented in this work, using dissimilarity matrix, which can be well fitted with MC/DC. We also present the results generated out of a case study of the test-suite minimization.

Does Access to Finance Eradicate Poverty? A Case Study of Mudra Beneficiaries

Ajay Kumar SALGOTRA,Prashant KANDARI,Uma BAHUGUNA 한국유통과학회 2021 The Journal of Asian Finance, Economics and Busine Vol.8 No.1

The main objective of this study was to investigate the impact of access to finance on the different dimensions of poverty. To achieve the objectives of the study, the participants/beneficiaries of the Mudra scheme were included and sample of target respondents was extracted through multistage random sampling technique. The sample for the study was taken from the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir of India. The study further utilized secondary data from the government official websites and lead banks. A paired t-test was applied to test the impact of access to finance across the various dimensions of poverty by constructing the Multidimensional Poverty Index(MPI), after checking the normality of the data. MPI incorporates dimensions such as education, health, and standard of living. The finding of the study revealed that dimensions of poverty responded positively to access to finance. The study shows that larger access to finance has helped in reducing the multidimensional poverty by having moderate, but positive impact on the standard of living, health, and education, thereby improving the lives of the poor. The present study identified that the level of impact of access to finance is moderate and further explains its importance for policy implications.

Hyperbilirubinemia without biliary obstruction during amoebic liver abscess treated successfully with endoscopic biliary drainage

        Ajay Kumar Jain,Suchita Jain,Sandeep Kaulavkar,Ashmeet Choudhary 소화기인터벤션의학회 2021 Gastrointestinal Intervention Vol.10 No.1

Amoebic liver abscess with jaundice is not uncommon, but jaundice with intractable pruritus due to it is extremely uncommon. We present a case of amoebic liver abscess who had mild icterus at presentation and improved within seven days of conservative management with the decrease in abscess size. One month later, he presented with severe pruritus and deep jaundice. On evaluation, no other cause could be identified to explain his jaundice and severe pruritus other than a residual abscess. Therefore abscess was drained but neither his jaundice nor pruritus responded to the aspiration of abscess. After one week he underwent endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP) and biliary stenting despite he not having any intra or extra-hepatic biliary dilatation. Following biliary drainage, his pruritus improved completely, and bilirubin became normal over the next few days. In conclusion, bilio-vascular fistulas, when present can lead to severe pruritus and, biliary drainage is an effective treatment for it.

        Transient response of rhombic laminates

        Ajay Kumar,Anish,Abhay K. Chaubey,Satyam Vishwakarma,Stanisław Fic,Danuta Barnat-Hunek 국제구조공학회 2019 Structural Engineering and Mechanics, An Int'l Jou Vol.70 No.5

In the present study, a suitable mathematical model considering parabolic transverse shear strains for dynamic analysis of laminated composite skew plates under different types of impulse and spatial loads was presented for the first time. The proposed mathematical model satisfies zero transverse shear strain at the top and bottom of the plate. On the basis of the cubic variation of thickness coordinate in in-plane displacement fields of the present mathematical model, a 2D finite element (FE) model was developed including skew transformations in the mathematical model. No shear correction factor is required in the present formulation and damping effect was also incorporated. This is the first FE implementation considering a cubic variation of thickness coordinate in in-plane displacement fields including skew transformations to solve the forced vibration problem of composite skew plates. The effect of transverse shear and rotary inertia was incorporated in the present model. The Newmark-β scheme was adapted to perform time integration from step to step. The C0 FE formulation was implemented to overcome the problem of C1 continuity associated with the cubic variation of thickness coordinate in in-plane displacement fields. The numerical studies showed that the present 2D FE model predicts the result close to the analytical results. Many new results varying different parameter such as skew angles, boundary conditions, etc. were presented.
