        This study examined the running patterns of deep fascia around muscles in a human cadaver. After the skin and superficial fascia were removed, the holistic fascia arrangement was investigated with the naked eye. In order to make an observation, the interconnection of fasciae on both sides and muscles were lifted. To make an estimation of running direction and tension of the subject fasciae of each body part, epimysium along with muscle fibers of the subject muscles were held and lifted with tweezers. The running direction and tension correlation of the deep fascial fibers were observed parallel to the muscle fibers of the subject muscles. In the back, four rhomboid shape fascial profiles were observed around the vertebral column. The rhomboid profiles are composed of a fascia of trapezius, a fascia of latissimus dorsi, a fascia of Michaelis rhombod, and an innominated rhomboid, which were located between a fascia of trapezius and a fascia of latissimus dorsi. Upon observation of the connection of fascial fibers, they appeared with a thin and loose formation between muscles, appeared with a thin and dense formation between a muscle and soft tissue around the bone, and appeared with a thick and loose formation between muscle groups.

        The dynactin subunit DCTN1 controls osteoclastogenesis via the Cdc42/PAK2 pathway

        Osteoclasts (OCs), cells specialized for bone resorption, are generated from monocyte/macrophage precursors by a differentiation process governed by RANKL. Here, we show that DCTN1, a key component of the dynactin complex, plays important roles in OC differentiation. The expression of DCTN1 was upregulated by RANKL. The inhibition of DCTN1 expression by gene knockdown suppressed OC formation, bone resorption, and the induction of NFATc1 and c-Fos, critical transcription factors for osteoclastogenesis. More importantly, the activation of Cdc42 by RANKL was inhibited upon DCTN1 silencing. The forced expression of constitutively active Cdc42 restored the OC differentiation of precursors with DCTN1 deletion. In addition, PAK2 was found to be activated by RANKL and to function downstream of Cdc42. The DCTN1-Cdc42 axis also inhibited apoptosis and caspase-3 activation. Furthermore, the antiosteoclastogenic effect of DCTN1 knockdown was verified in an animal model of bone erosion. Intriguingly, DCTN1 overexpression was also detrimental to OC differentiation, suggesting that DCTN1 should be regulated at the appropriate level for effective osteoclastogenesis. Collectively, our results reveal that DCTN1 participates in the activation of Cdc42/PAK2 signaling and the inhibition of apoptosis during osteoclastogenesis.

        Caveolin-1 regulates osteoclast differentiation by suppressing cFms degradation

        Caveolae are flask-shaped cell-surface membranes, which consist of cholesterol, sphingolipids and caveolin proteins. In a microarray analysis, we found that caveolin-1 (Cav-1) was upregulated by receptor activator of NFκB ligand (RANKL), the osteoclast differentiation factor. Silencing of Cav-1 inhibited osteoclastogenesis and also decreased the activation of mitogenactivated protein kinase and the induction of NFATc1 by RANKL. Cav-1 knockdown suppressed the expression of cFms and RANK, two major receptors for osteoclastogenesis. Interestingly, cFms expression was decreased only at the protein level, not at the messenger RNA (mRNA) level, whereas RANK expression was decreased at both the mRNA and protein levels. Furthermore, Cav-1 deficiency increased the lysosomal degradation of cFms. Taken together, these results demonstrate that Cav-1-dependent cFms stabilization contributes to efficient osteoclastogenesis.

        각종 위질환에 있어서의 혈청 gastrin 치에 관한 임상적 연구

        The fasting serum gastrin levels were measured by radioimmunoassay in 32 normal healthy subjects without recognized gastrointestinal symptoms and 93 patients with various gastric diseases, who were visited of admitted to National Medical Center from February to June, 1981. The following results were obtained; 1) The fasting mean serum gastrin level in normal subjects was 55.9±26.3 pg/m1, and there was no difference between male and female. 2) The gastrin levels in gastric and duodenal ulcer were 85.0±28.4 and 76.0±43.0 pg/ml respectively, and it's values were elevated as compared with normal subjects. In gastric ulcer, the gastrin level was elevated than that of duodenal ulcer, but no significant difference in each other. 3) The gastrin level in stomach cancer was 89.5±42.2 pg/ml, and it's values were markedly elevated as compared with values in normal subjects. 4) The gastrin level in gastritis was 73.4±37. 4 pg/ml, and it's values were elevated as compared with values in normal subjects. 5) The gastrinl in post-gastrectomy state was 50.3±16.3 pg/ml, and it's values were slightly decreased as compared with values in normal subjects.

        SCUBA Observations of Spawning in Hexagrammos agrammus off the Tongyeong Coast, Korea

        We used direct diving observations to determine the seasonality and other characteristics of spawning in the greenling Hexagrammos agrammus off the coast of Tongyeong. Eleven spawning grounds were identified between November 11, 2013 and January 25, 2014. The fertilized eggs of H. agrammus were assigned to developmental stages I, II, III, and IV. Based on this classification, we showed that the spawning season extended from the end of October to mid-January. H. agrammus used diverse seaweed species attached to shallow bedrock as spawning substrata that provided good camouflage. Two to seven egg masses were fertilized around the holdfasts of individual seaweeds at depths of 1.2–4.0 m. We identified species-specific reproductive traits of H. agrammus during the spawning season, including strong parental care of the fertilized eggs.

        Development of Lead Slowing Down Spectrometer For Isotopic Fissile Assay

        A lead slowing down spectrometer (LSDS) is under development for analysis of isotopic fissile material contents in pyro-processed material, or spent fuel. Many current commercial fissile assay technologies have a limitation in accurate and direct assay of fissile content. However, LSDS is very sensitive in distinguishing fissile fission signals from each isotope. A neutron spectrum analysis was conducted in the spectrometer and the energy resolution was investigated from 0.1eV to 100keV. The spectrum was well shaped in the slowing down energy. The resolution was enough to obtain each fissile from 0.2eV to 1keV. The detector existence in the lead will disturb the source neutron spectrum. It causes a change in resolution and peak amplitude. The intense source neutron production was designed for ~E12 n’s/sec to overcome spent fuel background. The detection sensitivity of U238 and Th232 fission chamber was investigated. The first and second layer detectors increase detection efficiency. Thorium also has a threshold property to detect the fast fission neutrons from fissile fission. However, the detection of Th232 is about 76% of that of U238. A linear detection model was set up over the slowing down neutron energy to obtain each fissile material content. The isotopic fissile assay using LSDS is applicable for the optimum design of spent fuel storage to maximize burnup credit and quality assurance of the recycled nuclear material for safety and economics. LSDS technology will contribute to the transparency and credibility of pyro-process using spent fuel, as internationally demanded.
