지식기반산업의 집적경제가 지식기반산업고용성장에 미치는 영향 - 경기도를 중심으로 -

본 연구는 경기도를 대상으로 하여 지식기반산업의 집적이 지식기반산업의 고용성장에 미치는 영향의 원인을 외부효과를 바탕으로 규명하고자 하였다. 연구 방법은 규모의 경제와 집적의 경제에 대한 외부효과의 정도를 검증한 Glaeser, Kallal, Sheinkman and Shleifer(1992)의 연구를 바탕으로, 동적외부효과(dynamic externality)가 도시성장의 주요 요인이라는 관점들을 실증 분석하였다. 종속변수로는 경기도 지식기반산업의 고용성장률을, 설명변수로는 동적외부효과를 나타내는 MAR효과(특화), Porter효과(경쟁), Jacobs효과(다양성) 3개의 변수를 정량화하였으며 분석 결과, 지식기반산업의 집적경제 요인 중 다양성 변수는 유의하지 않으며 특화와 경쟁은 지식기반산업의 고용성장과 유의한 음의 관계를 가지는 것으로 나타나, 동적외부효과 중에서 고용성장에 양의 영향을 주는 것은 없었다. 그 밖에 지역구분, 생산자 서비스 특화도 역시 고용증가율과 유의한 음의 상관관계를 가지고 있는 것으로 나타났다. Based on Glaeser et al.(1992), this study examines the cause of effect of agglomeration of knowledge-based industry on employment growth using a new data set of regional specialization, diversity, and competition in 31 cities in Gyeonggi. Also this study analyzes the view which explains that dynamic externality is the major factor of urban growth. We establish control variables such as knowledge-based industries in 2000, human capital, producer service concentration, and geographical dummy. In terms of the externality variables, we set them as specialization, competition, and diversity. The results suggest that diversity seems not to have a significant effect while urban specialization and competition seem to have negative effects on employment growth. The evidence suggests that important knowledge spillover might occur between industries rather than within industry, being consistent with Porter's theories. But the other variables are not significant, then Jacobs's theory does not receive any empirical supports. Producer service concentration and geographical dummy are all significant and negative.
