Runoff simulation tests to investigate the flow mechanics of nonsuomerged overland flow in a natural grass intervening land system were conducted and a modified kinematic wave overland runoff model developed by Choi et al. (1993) was verified. Nonhomogeneity and heterogeneity of the soil, slope, local topography, infiltration, grass density, and the density and activity of the soil microbes and wild animals were the major factors affecting the flow. Streamlines were disturbed by grass stems and small concentrated flows due to the disturbed streamlines and local topography were observed a lot. Relatively larger concentrated flows were observed where bundles of grass were dominant than where individual grasses were growing. Predicted hydrographs were agreed very well with measured hydrographs. Since the modified model considers grass density in computing flow depth and hydraulic radius, it can be better than existing kinematic wave model if it were used to route nonpoint source pollutant attenuation processes in many grass intervening land system.

Accurate estimation of load is very important for bridge diagnostics to verify the remaining service life and to schedule required maintenance. The major truck parameters include load information, such as gross vehicle weight, axle weight, and axle configuration, speed, and dynamic characteristics. Also important are site condition, such as distance between passing trucks, ratio of fully-loaded trucks. These parameters can be measured using weigh-in-motion (WIM) technique. In this study, bridge weigh-in-motion (BWIM), which is invisible to truck drivers (to avoid bias), was used to collect unbiased truck information based on Moses’ previous study. In this study, BWIM equipment was installed in Mun-Mak Bridge to verify the accuracy and applicability of the system. Further study is planned on the various types of bridges to standardize the site-specific truck data, and rational fatigue load calculation.

The purpose of the paper is to secure reliable simulations using BIM building energy simulation programs based on EnergyPlus. DesignBuilder and OpenStudio were selected in this study. The initial result shows that there was a distinct difference between DesignBuilder and OpenStudio results of the identical virtual space. After identifying differences in EnergyPlus input files between the two programs, the impacts of changes in input variables on building energy consumption were analyzed. It was found that setting temperature was the most influential factor affecting the difference in simulation results.

Nowadays, there are many researches about Electric Vehicle (EV) because of high oil prices and exhaust gas. However EV has limited mileage yet. To improve this problem, researches for Extended-Range Electric Vehicles (E-REV) which have a light internal engine to generate additional electric are progressing considerably. In this study, battery sizing process for E-REV Bus is discussed based on the required All Electric Range (AER). Once target performances like AER are decided, battery capacity is calculated using simple equation and backward simulation. To verify backward simulator’s reliability, it is compared with AUTONOMIE results. State of Charge (SOC) of battery pack is limited from 90% to 20% of the total battery capacity and simulations are conducted under several driving cycles. Considering the AER, the battery capacity and electric economy for regenerative ratio are obtained .

Because of high oil prices and emission gas problems, many governments tighten regulation of fuel economy and emission gas. For passenger car, there are many researches for plug-in hybrid electric vehicles and they are being manufactured. On the other hand, there are few researches for plug-in hybrid electric bus that is heavy commercial vehicle. In this study, components sizing of E-REV bus is conducted considering target vehicle performance and AER. Based on results of components sizing, forward simulator is developed for analysis of E-REV bus using Autonomie.

Nowadays high oil price and emission of CO₂ are serious problems. Many companies are researching and supplying HEV. However there are not enough performance tests for commercial HEV. Among the tests, this study researched that parameters affect how much fuel economy changes in Parallel hybrid electric vehicle. Especially it is considered for transmission parameters sensitivity. Dynamic programming which is a technique to solve optimization problems was applied to calculate fuel economy of the vehicle. Based on the results of research, fuel economy according to transmission parameters is insignificant. In addition, more various parameters must be analyzed.

High economic growth causes increase of the building energy consumption. The energy consumption for HVAC system accounts for 40~50% of the whole building consumption. The trend for building is large-scale and high-rise. Because of the trend, the energy consumption is becoming bigger than before. Nowadays, HVAC system design are recognized as the solution for a energy-saving. This paper is focused on the energy performance evaluation of central air-conditioning system and personal HVAC system that were applied to the office building.
