Since the introduction of pictorial cigarette warnings in 2016, research about cigarette warning effects has been increasing. However, most research has been limited to analyzing simple mediation effect of fear on quit intention. Recently the role of guilt receives scholarly attention in health communication research, pictorial cigarette warning in particular. This study intends to investigate the moderated mediation effects of self-efficacy and negative affects including guilt, fear, and disgust among smokers between a pictorial warning and a text warning. Specifically this study 1) compared smokers’ guilt, fear and disgust levels evoked by the pictorial warning vs. the text warning, and 2) analyzed moderated mediation effects of 3 negative affects and self-efficacy on warning information usefulness and quit intention. This research found that the pictorial warning evoked higher guilt, fear, and disgust than the text warning. Smokers’ self-efficacy moderated the mediation effects of 3 negative affects, but the moderated mediation types were different across the affects. Separate analyses with each affect showed that the relationships between guilt and warning information usefulness, and guilt and quit intention were positively moderated by smokers’ self-efficacy. Furthermore the moderate mediation effects were stronger with the pictorial warning than the text warning. Multiple mediation analyses with guilt, fear and disgust showed that the relationships between fear and information usefulness, and disgust and information usefulness were negatively moderated by smokers’self-efficacy. However, the relationship between guilt and information usefulness was positively moderated by smokers’ self-efficacy. Based on the results, this research suggests that pictorial cigarette warning theme development and warning effect evaluation should embrace the unique role of guilt on quit intention among smokers.
담배규제 정책 보도에 나타난 기사 유형, 주제, 논조 분석

This study analyzed tobacco control policy news coverage from 5 Korean daily newspapers and 3 broadcasting stations between 2011 and 2016. The purpose of this study is to review the position of news media and understand arguments of policy supporters and opponents by conducting content analysis of news coverage about smokefree zone, cigarette tax, pictorial warning, and quit assistance with news story type, theme, and tone. Results show that news or feature stories appear more frequently than opinion editorials and letters to the editor. Letters to the editor showed negative tones more frequently than opinion editorials and news/features. While editorials and columns by reporters tend to approach negatively cigarette tax and pictorial warning policies, editorials and columns by non-reporters tend to describe positively all policies. In addition, this study frequently found the theme of ‘conflict’ between pro-policies and anti-policies. Smokefree zone had the largest amount of news coverage and most frequently reported the theme of ‘secondhand smoke.’ Cigarette tax was most frequently covered in ‘economic burden’ themed news stories and most frequently received negative news stories about the effectiveness of tobacco control regulation. Pictorial warning had the fewest news coverage and yet frequently received both positive and negative news stories about the effectiveness. Research results suggest that it is necessary to develop public health frames counter to ‘economic burden’ theme, emphasize strategies about ‘youth smoking’ prevention and resolve dissatisfaction associated with quit assistance services.

This study investigates the effects of interior design elements on the satisfaction and preference for space. Field measurements and surveys were conducted in three coffeeshops where various interior design elements were applied. Results indicate that movable tables and chairs for two people were preferred in the space. They need to be placed flexibly according to the visitors’ needs to improve satisfaction for convenience. To improve spatial satisfaction, the brightness of color applied to wall surfaces was recommended to be lower than that of color used for floor surfaces. The surfaces of space and interior design elements such as furniture also need to be kept clean. Lamps with lower color temperature were effective to enhance spatial satisfaction. Light sources should be shielded when a pendant lighting system with general diffuse type was used in space. Natural daylight through window was also required for better satisfaction level. Multiple linear regression implied that the cozy feeling by electric light, existence of daylight, flexible layouts for tables and chairs, color and quality of material for tables and floor were significant contributors to overall spatial satisfaction.
위기 이력과 위기공개 타이밍이 중국 소비자의 기업 신뢰에 미치는 영향: 기업 능력 위기와 CSR 위기 중심으로

Negative perceptions about corporate social responsibility (CSR) crises and repeated crises are increasing. It is necessary to examine the effects of a proactive strategy of disclosing crisis information against the negative perceptions. The research is intended to analyze ability-based trust, and benevolence-based trust by crisis type, crisis history, and timing of crisis disclosure. In this regard, a 2 (crisis history: present vs. absent) x 2 (crisis type: corporate ability crisis vs CSR crisis) x 2 (timing of crisis disclosure: stealing thunder vs thunder) between-groups design experiment was conducted. Research results show crisis type and crisis history have significant interaction effects on ability-based trust. In the CSR crisis, the case with crisis history shows lower ability-based trust than the case without crisis history. Timing of crisis disclosure showed significant interactions with crisis history and crisis type. The stealing thunder strategy heigntened ability-based trust and benevolence-based trust against the CSR crises and the cases without crisis history more than the corporate ability crises and the cases with crisis history. Considering that the stealing thunder strategy is more effective with the CSR crises than the corporate ability crises, the research results suggest that future CSR crisis responses should prepare active disclosure of crisis information before news media disclosure of such information.
