The side impact test in the Korean New Car Assessment program (KNCAP) has been conducted since 2003. The side impact test method has been contributed to the improvement of the vehicle side structure and the enhancement of the occupant protection performance for the domestic vehicles. The pole side impact test method introduced in the KNCAP in 2010 to enhance the head protection under the severe side crash environment. The pole side impact test is optional for the additional score to be added to the overall rating score. The test results of side and pole side impact test for five vehicles were introduced and compared.

Most of air pollution in a metropolis is the result of exhaust gas emissions from automotive vehicles, and the world-wide regulation against environmental pollution is becoming stricter. Hereupon the demand on development and supply of an environment-friendly automobile is increasing and the market of it is expected to grow rapidly in this time of high oil price. Therefore this research aims at developing the techniques of safety and performance evaluation for Hybrid Electric vehicles. Possible problems of Hybrid Electric automobile evaluation in several fields i.e. power performance division, general safety division, clash safety division, high voltage electricity and high capacity battery division and electrical safety related problems are identified using performance evaluation test based on the current safety standard and a safe standard enforcement detailed regulation.

The catalyzed wall flow type DPF system showed PM conversion efficiency of over 90%. But it usually not properly work due to the low exhaust gas temperature. This study shows the performance of the Partial DPF system. PM reduction efficiency of the Partial DPF system is over 55% for ND-13mode and ETC. CO and HC conversion efficiency is over 95% and 85%. Smoke reduction efficiency is over 48% for engine lug down-3 mode.

All across our nation, people live, work, and learn in indoor environments and especially, many people spend more time than ever before inside of cars. Recent years have been increasing attention focused on the air contamination inside auto-cabin. The sources of air contamination inside auto-cabin are roughly divided into internal sources(ex. chemical compounds from interior material) and external sources(ex. tail-pipe emission etc.). The Purpose of this research is to examine the status of worldwide auto-cabin air quality study, and to give the information when research is intended to develop methods to mitigate indoor air problem from auto-cabin.
디젤자동차용 Urea-SCR 시스템 특성에 대한 기초 연구

The characterization of urea-SCR system was performed to develop NOx reduction after-treatment system. Three candidate injectors for the urea injection were tested in terms of the injection rate, NOx reduction rate, and NH₃ slip. The performance of SCR catalyst on temperature and two different NOx reductants (AdBlue and Denoxium-30) were investigated. The NOx conversion efficiency of urea-SCR system was estimated as function of engine speed. It was found that nozzle type injector had high NOx conversion rate and low NH₃ slip. SCR catalytic converter had the highest efficiency at the temperature of 350℃. Denoxium-30 had similar NOx conversion rate and NH₃ slip with Urea solution.

Pedestrian fatalities account for about 44% of all traffic accident fatalities in Korea. In this paper, a series of child headform test and simulation were conducted to evaluate pedestrian protection test protocol describes in the EEVC and IHRA. The developed 2.5㎏ and 3.5㎏ child headform impactors were used to evaluate the effectiveness of these test rigs in the hood component. Results from the simulations, the influence factors such as impact speed, impact angle and headform sizes were evaluate in terms of HIC.
