It is important to provide the farmers with practical and effective information of safety and health for individual crop to prevent or reduce occupational injuries in agricultural sector, since work characteristics and risk factors are not the same for all crops. In this study, risk assessment was carried out for cultivating shiitake mushrooms and then safety measures, which were based on the results of the risk assessment, were summarized and presented as the information of safety and health of shittake farmers. Guidelines for safety and health of the farmers of shiitake mushrooms, which were developed based on the risk assesment and safety measures, can be used by the farmers as self-educational tools or by the agricultural facilitators as an educational material for agricultural safety. It is expected that the guidelines can be useful in preventing occupational injuries of shiitake farmers.

마이크로 가스터빈엔진의 성능측정 연구를 수행하였다. 50 lbf급 Olpympus HP engine에 대하여 전반적인 엔진 성능인 엔진 회전수, 추력, 연료소모율 및 배기가스의 온도를 측정하였다. 또한 작동유체에 대한 온도 및 압력을 측정하였다. 그리고 엔진의 배기가스의 성분분석을 통해 연소기의 연소 효율을 측정하였다. 연구 결과로부터 50 lbf급 터보제트엔진에 대한 전반적인 성능특성을 이해할 수 있었다. An experimental study was conducted for a micro gas turbine engine. Overall engine performance of 50 lbf class Olympus HP engine such as engine speed, thrust, specific fuel consumption and exhaust gas temperature were measured. And temperature and pressure of engine working fluid were measured. Also combustion efficiency was measured by using emission gas analysis. From the results, we could understand the general performance characteristics of 50 lbf class turbo jet engine.

Objective: The prevalence of musculoskeletal disorders among fruit and vegetable farmers was analyzed based on survery studies. Background: Agriculture is still much dependent on manual tasks and it is presumed that many Korean farmers have musculoskeletal disorders with them. Characteristics of agricultural tasks are dependent on the prodcuts such as fruits, vegetables, or crops. It is presumed that those characteristics can affect the type of prevalence of musculoskeletal disorders. Method: One-hundred and twenty-three farmers (80 males and 43 females) answered to the modified Nordic questionnaire: 19 grape farmers, 20 pear farmers, and 84 cucumber and various vegetables farmers. Result: Grape and pear farmers frequently raised their arms and assumed prolonged standing, while vegetables farmers frequently assummed kneeling and sitting postures and carries out manual materials handling tasks. The prevalence rate of MSDs was the highest in the lower back with 58.5%. Fruit farmer showed relatively higher rate of MSDs in the arms and neck compared to vegetables farmers. Howerver, the differences between two types of farmers were not much great. The reasons for that are the number of participants is not large enough, the participants are mostly too old to answer the questions properly, and the farmers are doing various kinds of tasks even though they have their own main prodcuts. Conclusion: Task characteristics of farming prodcuts are found to partly related to the prevalence of musculoskeletal disorders of farmers.
