        Characterization of Mechanical and Flammability Properties of Nonwoven Fabrics Containing Polyethylene Terephthalate and Polylactic Acid Hollow Fibers

        The purpose of this study is to develop a lightweight and environmentally friendly nonwoven fabric to substitute polyurethane (PU) foams in automotive interiors. Two types of hollow fibers-polyethylene terephthalate (PET) hollow fiber and polylactic acid (PLA) hollow fiber-and bicomponent binder fibers were used to manufacture the nonwoven fabrics for seat cushions by carding, needle punching, thermal bonding, and air through bonding processes. The ideal characteristics required for automotive seat cushions were evaluated, and the significant changes with the structural components were analyzed. The nonwoven fabrics showed better air permeability, compressional resilience, ball rebound resilience, and non-flammability in comparison with PU foams. The characteristics were affected by the manufacturing processes.

        셀룰로스 섬유를 이용한 감성쾌적소재 개발 (I) -의마가공이 직물의 태 및 열전달 특성에 미치는 영향-

        Linen fabric is one of the most traditional fabrics for summer clothing because of its high permeability and cool feeling. However, it has some demerits such as low dyeability, poor dimensional stability, and high cost, which has encouraged the development of linen-like finishing based on cellulose materials. In this research, we evaluated the linen-like effects of cotton fabric on the objective hand value and heat transport properties with various concentrations of NMMO aqueous solution. Solvent bonding of cotton fabric through the treatment with NMMO aqueous solution was observed above 30% concentration. Primary hand values were calculated by KN-101-SUMMER equation for translating fabric mechanical parameters into hand values for summer suit fabrics. Stiffness(KOSHI) and anti-drape stiffness (HARI) remarkably increased with the concentrations of NMMO aqueous solution. It will provide a merit for summer clothing, which does not clinging to the skin during sweating.

        Narrow fabric을 이용한 방탄소재 설계

        Multi-layered woven fabrics are widely used in soft body armor to provide ballistic resistance. In this study, we suggest a method to increase the energy absorption by narrow fabric effect. Five kinds of ballistic panel were prepared by cutting, slitting, and so on. The width of the strips was determined based on the size of the induced trauma (back face signature on oil clay); they were stacked at either bias or warp directions. The ballistic performance (NIJ Standard-0101.04, Type IIIA) of narrow fabrics was compared to that of wide fabric panels. Lab-scale dropping projectile and NIJ Standard tests showed that the penetration depth of the trauma was less in narrow fabrics than in wide plain fabrics. The width of the trauma was also considerably smaller than the control. It is caused by free edge effect of relatively narrow strips of woven fabrics.

        Reserved force's training(RFT) is undoubtedly the critical component to increase the national capability in case of emergency. It is because RFT plays an important role in maintaining the peace for the Korean peninsula as the key deterrence force power for more than 40 years. Considering the reserved force reform linked with the goal and the plan of Korean Defense Reform 2020', we can expect the utility of the reserved force as the potential combat power to make national defense resources more efficient and useful. In that sense, this study suggests some solutions to promote the reserved force's competency to demonstrate the ROK Armed Force's combat power as the equivalent partner with the active force as well as the future deterrence power. This study also analyzes the present training system including law and regulation, identifies some implications through the literature review, and designs the future ROK reserved force's training system by extracting new variables forecasting the future environment for national defense. In addition, this study includes its concerned systems generally without limiting the scope into the reserved force. Therefore we try to seek to prepare for mobilization readiness and to promote regional hometown defense capability in order to cope with the enemy's threat in case of emergency.

        3D-Spacer Fabric의 물성비교 -자동차 시트 쿠션재로의 적용-

        Automotive textiles are the most valuable world market for technical textiles, and environmental requirements are putting pressure on the automotive industry to reduce the fuel consumption and $CO_2$ emissions from vehicles. The purpose of this study is to develop a lightweight and eco-friendly cushioning material to substitute for PU foam in automotive seat. To recycle and reduce the weight of the vehicle, PET hollow fiber was used to manufacture the 3D spacer fabric structures. The characteristics required for the automotive seat cushion were evaluated and the significant changes with the structural components were analyzed. The results show that the hardness and compressional properties are positively affected with the thickness of spacer fabrics though air and water vapor permeability decreased slightly.

        Clothing comfort is related to complex interactions between fabric, climatic, physiological and psychological variables. It depends upon the balance between body``s energy production and the exchange of energy with the environment. In the meteorological field, Discomfort Index (DI) has been used for estimating the comfort or discomfort feeling, but the discomfort feeling is different with individuals and it can be changed by clothing system. However, the index for clothing comfort is not established yet. In this study, we specified comfort or discomfort range by means of psycho-physiological response with various temperature and humidity conditions. It was compared to the range of DI, we could recognize that direct application of Discomfort Index to estimate clothing climate was impossible, and verified the possibility of new estimating index for clothing climate.

      • 면직물의 동적 드레이프성 평가에 관한 연구

        드레이프성은 의복의 외관을 결정하는 매우 중요한 요소이다. 그런데, 실제 의복을 착의하는 경우를 고려한다면, 정지된 상태보다는 자유공간에서 동적으로 움직이는 상태의 드레이프 특성의 평가 또한 매우 중요할 것으로 생각된다. 따라서 따라서 본 연구에서는 조건을 달리하여 제직한 면직물을 이용하여/ 정적·동적 드레이프 특성을 평가하고, 이를 직물의 구조인자 및 각종 역학특성과 비교분석하였다. 그 결과, 직물구조인자에 따라 드레이프 계수가 변화하였으며, 동적 드레이프 계수는 회전속도가 증가함에따라 wave arc가 넓어지고 원심력에 의해 wave crest 부분이 펼쳐지면서 드레이프 계수가 큰 증가를 나타내었다. 드레이프 특성과 상관성이 높게 나타난 역학특성은 굽힘특성과 전단특성이었으며, 각각의 경우 정적 드레이프 계수와의 상관성이 가장 높게 나타났으며, 반면에 고속회전시에는 동적 드레이프 계수와의 상관성은 상대적으로 낮게 나타났다.

        공공디자인을 통한 지속가능한 마을만들기에 관한 연구

        세계가 단일 공동체화 되어가는 과정에서 경쟁 단위로서의 국가 개념보다는 지역을 중심으로 한 글로컬리즘(glocalism)경쟁이 심화되고 있으며, 이러한 지역 간의 경쟁은 다양한 마케팅을 통해서 차별화된 지역만의 이미지를 만들고 있으며 그 배경에 공공디자인이 있다고 할 수 있다. 마을공동화 현상이 심화되는 지역의 재생, 다양한 계층과 문화가 복합적으로 교류하는 지속가능한 공간을 만들어 사회적 문제를 해결하고, 삶의 환경을 구성하는 다양한 공공시설물, 지역경제 활성화와 활기찬 이미지의 창출을 통한 마을 경쟁력 강화의 방안으로 그 지역의 정체성을 반영한 공공디자인 역할에 대한 중요성이 강조되고 있다. 이러한 지역의 정체성을 공공디자인을 통해 지속가능한 마을 만들기에 적극 활용함으로서 새로운 이미지 창출, 즉 다른 지역들과 차별화되는 그 마을만의 조형과 정신, 지역 활성화로 모든 사람들에게 공감을 얻을 수 있다. 지속가능한 마을 만들기는 공공디자인을 통해 지역공동체 활성화로 마을이 살아나고 정주민의 삶의 질이 향상되는 가장 중요한 목적을 갖고 있으며, 마을의 공공공간과 주민의 유기적인 관계 속에서 세심하게 실행되어야 하며, 가장 중요한 것은 그 지역의 정체성이 반영되어 정주민의 삶과 함께 하는 디자인이 되어야 한다. In the process of becoming a single community of the world, glocalism competition which focuses on local rather than a national concept as competitive units is intensifying, and the competition between these areas creates the differentiated image of the region through a variety of marketing and It can be said that In the background is the public design. As a way of solving social problems by regenerating the area where village cavitation phenomenon is intensifying and making a sustainable space where the combination of the various layers and cultural exchanges, and (as a way of) strengthening the competitiveness of the town through the creation of activation of local economy and vibrant images and a variety of the public facilities that make up living environments, the role of the public design which reflects the identity of the local is emphasized. By actively utilizing the identity of these areas in a sustainable town development projects, Creating a new image, the spirit, molding and regional development of the town that is differentiated from other areas means the possibility of getting the sympathy. Creating a sustainable village communities has the most important objective that the village survive by activation of local communities through the public design and the quality of life of the residents improve and must be carefully executed in the organic relationship between the public spaces and the inhabitants of the town, the most important thing is to reflect the identity of the area with a design of the life of the residents.
