데이터베이스관리자 (Data Base Administrator)는 데이터베이스시스템을 설계하고 유지보수 하는데 있어서 중요한 역할을 수행한다. DBA는 정보기술 분야에서 그 수요가 매우 높은 직업이고 정보시스템을 개발하고 유지보수 하는데 있어서 중요하다. 하지만, DBA에 대한 연구는 많이 없었다. Fortune 500대기업의 웹사이트에 올라온 구인광고를 수집하고 분석함으로써 본 연구는 오늘날의 DBA에게 요구되는 스킬들을 조사하였다. Database Administrators (DBA) play a role in designing and maintaining database systems. It is one of the Information Technology (IT) jobs in high demand and is important in developing and maintaining Information Systems (IS). Little research has been conducted on the skill requirements for a DBA. By collecting and analyzing job ads posted on the websites of Fortune 500 companies, we investigated the skill requirements needed for today's DBA.

빅데이터 정보시스템의 구축 및 사례에 관한 연구

Although many successful cases regarding big data have been reported, building information systems of big data is still difficult. From the perspective of technology the builders need to understand the whole process of systems development ranging from collecting, storing, processing, and analyzing data to presenting and using information. Whereas, from the perspective of business, the builders need to understand the values of the proposed big data project and explain to top managers who have to make a decision of the risky investment. This study proposes a framework of 5W 1H that can help the builder understand things related to the development of big data information systems. In addition, big data cases from the real world have been illustrated by applying to the framework. It is expected to help builders understand and manage big data projects and lead managers to make better decisions of the investment to the development of information systems. 빅데이터와 관련하여 많은 성공사례들이 보고되었지만 실제로 시스템을 구축하는 데 있어서는 여전히 많은 어려움이 있다. 기술적인 측면에서 데이터의 수집과 저장, 처리와 분석, 그리고 표현과 사용에 이르는 전 과정을 포괄적으로 이해해야 하고, 비즈니스적 측면에서는 구축된 시스템으로부터 얻을 수 있는 가치를 미리 파악하여 투자를 감행해야 하는 경영진에게 설명해야 한다. 본 연구는 빅데이터 정보시스템을 구축하는 것과 관련된 사항들을 쉽게 파악할 수 있는 5W 1H 프레임워크를 제공하고, 제시된 프레임워크를 기존의 빅데이터 사례들에 적용한 예시를 보여주었다. 투자를 위한 경영진의 의사결정을 이끌어내고 빅데이터 프로젝트의 종합적인 이해와 관리에 도움을 줄 수 있을 것으로 기대된다.

정보기술관리자는 정보기술자원을 조직화하는 것뿐만 아니라 정보시스템을 실행시키는데 있어서 매우 중요한 역할을 한다. 정보기술관리자가 되려는 사람은 업무를 수행하는데 필요한 기술이 무엇인지를 정확하게 이해해야 한다. 본 연구는 한국의 온라인 구인광고들을 분석함으로써 정보기술관리자에게 요구되는 기능들이 무엇인지를 밝히고자 한다. Information technology (IT) managers play a very important role in implementing information systems as well as in organizing IT resources. In order to adequately prepare candidates for such positions, it is important that one determine exactly what skills are required for success in this position. This study is intended to reveal the most up-to-date skill requirements for IT managers through analyzing job ads posted on online job boards in South Korea.

대구ㆍ경북지역 정보기술 인력의 경력지향에 관한 연구

개인의 경력적 지향은 욕구와 가치, 그리고 능력으로 구성되는 경력닻(Career Anchor)에 의하여 영향을 받는다. 본 연구는 대구ㆍ경북지역에서 IT인력에 의해 보유된 경력닻을 조사함으로써 경력적 지향을 이해하고자 한다. 특히, 성별, 나이, 근무기간, 그리고 직업명과 같은 요인들이 실제로 IT인력의 경력닻에 영향을 미치는지를 알아보고자 하였다. 본 연구는 이러한 목적을 달성하기 위하여 대구ㆍ경북지역에 종사하는 269명의 IT인력을 대상으로 설문조사를 실시하였다. 본 연구는 결과는 대구ㆍ경북지역 IT종사자들의 경력적 지향을 이해하는데 도움을 줄 것으로 기대된다. The career orientations of an individual are affected by his/her career anchors that are comprised of needs, values, and capabilities. This study is intended to understand the career orientations by way of discovering the career anchors that are possessed by IT workforce in Daegu-Gyeongbuk regions. In particular, such demographic factors as gender, age, job tenure, and job title were investigated to see if these factors in fact affected the career anchors of IT workforce. To achieve this purpose, we collected questionnaires from 269 IT workers in the regions. The results of this study is expected to contribute to our understanding of the career orientations of IT workforce in the region.

Is the Korean IT Manager Different?

정보기술관리자는 기술과 비즈니스를 연결하는 교량으로서 매우 중요한 역할을 수행하기 때문에, 이들의 직무에 있어서 어떤 스킬이 요구되는지를 이해하는 것은 매우 중요하다. 기존의 많은 연구들이 정보기술관리자에게 필요한 스킬에 관해서 조사했을 지라도, 대부분의 연구들은 미국 내의 기업들로부터 얻어진 데이터를 기반으로 결과가 도출되었다. 그러나, IT 산업의 인력이동이 심해짐에 따라 다른 나라에서도 미국에서와 같은 스킬들이 요구되는지를 알아보는 것은 중요한 연구과제이다. 이에 본 연구는 IT관리자들의 직무수행에 요구되는 스킬에 있어서 한국과 미국 사이에 어떤 차이가 있는지를 알아보고자 한다. Information Technology (IT) managers play an important role as a bridge between technology and business, and it is therefore important to determine what skills are required for this position. Although many previous studies have investigated the skills necessary for IT managers to perform their roles, most of these studies are based on the data collected from companies in the US. However, given the increased labor mobility in the IT industry, it is important to determine whether IT manager positions elsewhere require the same skills as the positions in the US. This study is a first step in this direction and attempts to determine whether there are any differences in skill requirements between Korean IT managers and American IT managers, and, if so, what they are.

다차원척도법을 활용한 인터넷 포털 사이트들의 포지셔닝에 관한 연구

인터넷에서 다수의 포털 사이트들이 치열한 경쟁을 벌이고 있지만, 일반 사용자들이 각 포털 사이트를 어떻게 인식하고 있는지에 대한 연구는 이루어지지 않았다. 본 연구는 인터넷 사용자들의 포털 사이트들에 대한 인식을 알아보기 위하여, 대표적인 다섯 개의 사이트들(Daum, 네이버, 구글, 네이트, 그리고 MSN) 간의 유사성 분석을 시도하였다. 다차원척도법을 활용하여 포털 사이트들 간의 차이를 개념적인 거리로 측정함으로써 각 사이트들의 상대적인 포지셔닝을 파악하고자 하였다. 본 연구의 결과는 포털 사이트 간 전략의 차이를 가시적으로 이해하는데 중요한 의미를 지닐 것으로 기대된다. While the competition among many portal sites has been very serious in the Internet, very little research has been conducted on the perceptions of the users visiting those sites. To investigate how differently the Internet users perceive each of the portal sites, we attempted to analyze the similarities of five popular portal sites (Daum, Naver, Google, Nate, and MSN). By measuring the conceptual distances among the portal sites using Multi-Dimensional Scaling, this study was intended to understand the positions of the sites relative to those of other sites. The results of this study is expected to contribute to our understanding of competitive contexts among the portal sites.

프로그래밍 언어들 간의 인지적인 거리측정에 관한 연구

컴퓨터관련 교육기관들은 시대의 변천에 따라 다양한 프로그래밍 언어들을 교육시켜 왔으나 많은 학생들은 컴퓨터 활용의 측면에서는 능숙하지만 프로그래밍은 배우기 어려운 분야로 인식되고 있다. 프로그래밍에 대한 거부감은 컴퓨터관련 전공에 대한 기피현상으로 이어졌고, 전 세계적으로 프로그래머 인력의 부족 문제가 대두되고 있는 실정이다. 본 연구는 프로그래밍 언어들에 대해서 프로그래머들이 지각하고 있는 언어들 간의 유사성을 조사함으로써 각 언어의 상대적인 위치를 파악하고, 좌표평면 상에 나타내어 각 차원이 의미하는 바를 추정하고 규명하였다. Although the educational institutions of computers have evolved to train students in pace with the changes of computing, many students still believe that computer programming is hard to be mastered. The reluctance of students toward programming languages have been tied to the decrease of computer-related majors and now many countries are in short of computer programmers. By investigating the similarities among eleven popular programming languages, this research is intended to measure the relative distances and understand the dimensions that scattered the languages.

웹 개발자에게 요구되는 지식과 스킬에 대한 연구

기존의 많은 연구자들이 프로그래머, 시스템분석가, 그리고 IT 관리자와 같은 정보인력에게 요구되는 지식과 스킬에 대하여 조사하고 연구하였다. 이러한 연구결과가 급변하는 정보기술에 대한 이해를 도왔을 뿐만 아니라, 정보기술관련 종사자들이 경력을 준비하는데 있어서도 도움을 주었다. 하지만, 웹 개발자와 같은 새로운 직업에 대해서는 거의 연구가 이루어지지 않았다. 본 연구는 인터넷에 게재된 구인광고를 수집하여 분석함으로써 웹 개발자에게 요구되는 지식과 스킬을 살펴보았다. 웹 개발에 대한 구체적인 기술적(technical) 요구사항은 Java나 JSP와 같은 프로그래밍 언어와 데이터베이스, 인터넷/웹에 관한 지식/스킬이었다. 비즈니스(business) 영역에서는 프로젝트 관리와 관련한 지식/스킬과 일반적인 관리능력이 주로 요구되었고, 시스템(system) 영역에서는 개발에 관한 지식/스킬이 높게 요구되었고, 정보기술에 대한 보편적인 지식도 요구되었다. 연구의 결과는 웹 개발에 필요한 다양한 지식과 스킬을 이해하는데 도움을 줄 것으로 기대한다. Many researchers have investigated and studied on the knowledge and skills required for IT workforce, such as programmers, systems analysts, and IT managers. The results of these studies helped us not only to understand the changes of IT trends and to prepare IT workers for their future careers. But, the web developer, which is a newly evolving job title, has little been studied. This research is intended to look into the knowledge and skills for web developers by collecting and analyzing the job advertisements posted the commercial job boards in the Internet. The specific technical requirements for Web developers are programming languages knowledge/skills such as Java and JSP, database, and Internet/Web. Knowledge/skills for general development and knowledge on information technology are required in System section. The results of this research is expected to help us understand the knowledge and skills related to web development.

An Analytical Review of MIS Research Trends in the New Millenium

경영정보시스템(MIS)을 전공하는 박사학위생들은 빠르게 변화는 정보기술에 발맞추어 MIS의 지식체계에 기여해왔다. 대부분의 박사학위 논문들은 저널에 출판되어 MIS의 학문적인 발전에 기여했을 뿐만 아니라 한국의 MIS 연구방향을 이끌어 왔다. 본 연구는 한국에서의 MIS 연구추세를 알아보기 위하여 박사학위 논문들을 수집하였고, 연구방법, 분석단위, 이론적 배경, 그리고 표본의 수와 같은 기준으로 분석하였다. 본 연구의 목적은 세 가지였다. 첫째, 한국의 박사학위 논문들이 어떤 이론과 모델에 기초하였는가를 알아보는 것이다. 둘째, MIS 박사학위 논문들이 어떤 연구방법에 치우쳐있는지를 알아보는 것이다. 셋째, 이러한 메타분석을 통하여 MIS의 연구추세를 돌아보고 미래의 방향을 새롭게 모색하는 것이다· 가능한 한 많은 박사학위 논문들을 수집하기 위하여 정부와 대학의 온라인 데이터베이스를 활용하였다. 한국의 대학에서 작성된 2000년부터 2008년까지 총 128개의 박사학위 논문들이 수집되었고 분석되었다. 수집된 표본들은 MIS 전공의 교수가 지도한 논문들이었다. 기술수용모델(Technology Acceptance Model)은 한국에서 MIS 박사학위 논문들에 있어서 가장 인기 있는 이론적 기초를 제공하였다. 기술수용모델이 어떤 정보기술의 채택에 대한 사용자들의 태도를 연구하는데 있어서는 중요하다고 할 수 있다. 그러나, MIS 전공의 박사과정 학생들이 IT과 비즈니스의 빠른 변화가 일으키는 현상들을 연구함에 있어서 보다 다양한 이론과 모델을 활용하도록 권장될 필요가 있다고 보여진다. 덧붙여, 구조방정식(Structural Equation Modeling)이 가장 보편적으로 널리 사용되는 연구방법이었다. 끝으로, 상대적으로 구하기 어려운 표본이라고 볼 수 있는 기업을 분석의 단위로 삼은 논문들이 많았다는 것은 매우 고무적인 결과로 보여진다.
