Skill Requirements for Database Administrators

데이터베이스관리자 (Data Base Administrator)는 데이터베이스시스템을 설계하고 유지보수 하는데 있어서 중요한 역할을 수행한다. DBA는 정보기술 분야에서 그 수요가 매우 높은 직업이고 정보시스템을 개발하고 유지보수 하는데 있어서 중요하다. 하지만, DBA에 대한 연구는 많이 없었다. Fortune 500대기업의 웹사이트에 올라온 구인광고를 수집하고 분석함으로써 본 연구는 오늘날의 DBA에게 요구되는 스킬들을 조사하였다. Database Administrators (DBA) play a role in designing and maintaining database systems. It is one of the Information Technology (IT) jobs in high demand and is important in developing and maintaining Information Systems (IS). Little research has been conducted on the skill requirements for a DBA. By collecting and analyzing job ads posted on the websites of Fortune 500 companies, we investigated the skill requirements needed for today"s DBA.

서비스 스케이프와 정보기술이 서비스 접점직원의 직무만족과 정서적 몰입 및 서비스 수행에 미치는 영향

본 연구는 서비스 스케이프와 정보기술이 직원의 직무만족과 정서적 몰입 및 서비스 수행에 미치는 영향을 3차 의료기관 입원병동 간호사를 대상으로 실증분석하였다. 구조방정식모형에 의한 실증분석 결과 서비스 스케이프와 정보기술은 직무만족과 정서적 몰입에, 직무만족과 정서적 몰입은 서비스행동에, 정서적 몰입과 서비스행동은 서비스회복에 긍정적인 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 또한 직무만족은 서비스행동을 통해 서비스회복에 영향을 주는 간접효과는 유의하나 직접효과는 유의하지 않은 것으로 나타났다. 본 연구에서 서비스 스케이프, 정보기술이 직무만족과 정서적 몰입을 통해 서비스 수행에 영향을 주는 순차적 관계를 확인하였다. 결론에서는 실증분석 결과에 대한 논의와 연구의 시사점 및 한계점을 제시하였다. This study examines the relationship among servicescape, information technology, employee"s job satisfaction, affective commitment and service performance. Empirical research is conducted to statistically test the model using SEM and empirically confirms followings: (a) positive effect of servicescape and IT on both of job satisfaction and affective commitment, which, in turn, positively influences on service behavior, (b) positive effect of affective commitment and service behavior on service recovery, and (c) significant indirect effect of job satisfaction on service recovery meditated by service behavior. Results suggest that there are direct and indirect effects on service performance of servicescape and information technology through job satisfaction and affective commitment. This paper is concluded with the summarized result and contribution of this study, managerial implication of the research findings, and further research issues.

컴퓨터관련 교육기관들은 시대의 변천에 따라 다양한 프로그래밍 언어들을 교육시켜 왔으나 많은 학생들은 컴퓨터 활용의 측면에서는 능숙하지만 프로그래밍은 배우기 어려운 분야로 인식되고 있다. 프로그래밍에 대한 거부감은 컴퓨터관련 전공에 대한 기피현상으로 이어졌고, 전 세계적으로 프로그래머 인력의 부족 문제가 대두되고 있는 실정이다. 본 연구는 프로그래밍 언어들에 대해서 프로그래머들이 지각하고 있는 언어들 간의 유사성을 조사함으로써 각 언어의 상대적인 위치를 파악하고, 좌표평면 상에 나타내어 각 차원이 의미하는 바를 추정하고 규명하였다. Although the educational institutions of computers have evolved to train students in pace with the changes of computing, many students still believe that computer programming is hard to be mastered. The reluctance of students toward programming languages have been tied to the decrease of computer-related majors and now many countries are in short of computer programmers. By investigating the similarities among eleven popular programming languages, this research is intended to measure the relative distances and understand the dimensions that scattered the languages.

개인의 경력적 지향은 욕구와 가치, 그리고 능력으로 구성되는 경력닻(Career Anchor)에 의하여 영향을 받는다. 본 연구는 대구ㆍ경북지역에서 IT인력에 의해 보유된 경력닻을 조사함으로써 경력적 지향을 이해하고자 한다. 특히, 성별, 나이, 근무기간, 그리고 직업명과 같은 요인들이 실제로 IT인력의 경력닻에 영향을 미치는지를 알아보고자 하였다. 본 연구는 이러한 목적을 달성하기 위하여 대구ㆍ경북지역에 종사하는 269명의 IT인력을 대상으로 설문조사를 실시하였다. 본 연구는 결과는 대구ㆍ경북지역 IT종사자들의 경력적 지향을 이해하는데 도움을 줄 것으로 기대된다. The career orientations of an individual are affected by his/her career anchors that are comprised of needs, values, and capabilities. This study is intended to understand the career orientations by way of discovering the career anchors that are possessed by IT workforce in Daegu-Gyeongbuk regions. In particular, such demographic factors as gender, age, job tenure, and job title were investigated to see if these factors in fact affected the career anchors of IT workforce. To achieve this purpose, we collected questionnaires from 269 IT workers in the regions. The results of this study is expected to contribute to our understanding of the career orientations of IT workforce in the region.

Is the Korean IT Manager Different?

정보기술관리자는 기술과 비즈니스를 연결하는 교량으로서 매우 중요한 역할을 수행하기 때문에, 이들의 직무에 있어서 어떤 스킬이 요구되는지를 이해하는 것은 매우 중요하다. 기존의 많은 연구들이 정보기술관리자에게 필요한 스킬에 관해서 조사했을 지라도, 대부분의 연구들은 미국 내의 기업들로부터 얻어진 데이터를 기반으로 결과가 도출되었다. 그러나, IT 산업의 인력이동이 심해짐에 따라 다른 나라에서도 미국에서와 같은 스킬들이 요구되는지를 알아보는 것은 중요한 연구과제이다. 이에 본 연구는 IT관리자들의 직무수행에 요구되는 스킬에 있어서 한국과 미국 사이에 어떤 차이가 있는지를 알아보고자 한다. Information Technology (IT) managers play an important role as a bridge between technology and business, and it is therefore important to determine what skills are required for this position. Although many previous studies have investigated the skills necessary for IT managers to perform their roles, most of these studies are based on the data collected from companies in the US. However, given the increased labor mobility in the IT industry, it is important to determine whether IT manager positions elsewhere require the same skills as the positions in the US. This study is a first step in this direction and attempts to determine whether there are any differences in skill requirements between Korean IT managers and American IT managers, and, if so, what they are.

Human Search Patterns on Product Comparison Service

기업이 매출을 신장하고 자신의 웹싸이트에 접속하는 고객들의 재방문 횟수를 늘리기 위하여, 고객이 원하는 제품정보를 효과적으로 전달해야 하는 필요성이 대두되고 있다. 그러므로, 웹싸이트상의 올바른 제품정보 배치에 대한 중요성은 강조되어야 한다. 이 논문에서는, 제품 비교 서비스에서 정보 배치의 형태에 따라 고객의 정보검색 패턴이 어떻게 바뀌는지를 연구하였다. 분석결과로 제품 비교 웹서비스의 수직적 배치 형태에서는 사람들은 특성 정보 경로를 따르는 경향을 보였으며, 수평적 배치 형태에서는 제품 정보 경로를 따르는 경향을 보였다. It is important for firms to help customers find the products or information they need in order to increase sales and promote return visits to their websites. Hence, the presentation of product information is very important in e-commerce websites. In this research, we study how disposition styles can influence browsing patterns. The test results show that people are inclined to use feature information paths in the vertical disposition style and product information paths in the horizontal disposition style. With vertical disposition, users are more likely to follow feature information paths which may help them focus on comparisons across products.
