Purpose: To examine the results of minimal stitch on the restoration of tissue after canalicular laceration. Methods: We have operated using sutures of tissues around canalicular laceration by inserting bicanalicular silicone stents and minimal horizontal mattress sutures with 8-0 Vicryl in cases of canalicular laceration instead of the existing method for the past 6 years. The ages of patients ranged from 2 to 76 years (average age 39.8 ±17.4 years), with most patients in their thirties (12 patients, 40%), 30 cases underwent canalicular repair with minimal stitch and bicanalicular silicone stent insertion within 24 hours after trauma. The silicone stent was removed 3 months after the operation if the patient did not complain of epiphroa while the canalicular remained open. Results: Twenty-five eyes (83.3%) showed symptom improvement and good passage in lacrimal syringing test in 4~12 months (average: 6.8±2.2 months) of follow-up study. Complications included one case each of fistula formation, stent prolapse, and wound infection, and two cases of canalicular stenosis. Conclusions: We recommend this method because of its satisfying success ratio.

Purpose: To report two cases of deepening of the upper lid sulcus following bimatoprost. Methods: A 54-year-old woman who used bimatoprost for one week and a 70-year-old woman who used bimatoprost for 4 months developed deep lid sulcus. Both were using bimatoprost for glaucoma treatment. Results: Both patients also showed improvement of dermatochalasis and widening of the palpebral fissure. One week after discontinuing bimatoprost, the lid sulcus of the 54-year-old returned to baseline and exophthalmometry was unchanged. The orbital CT of the 70-year-old was normal. She did not complain about deepening of the lid sulcus, and she has not discontinued treatment due to this adverse effect.

When reinforced concrete is subjected to high temperatures in a fire, there is a deterioration in its properties. It is very important to know loss in compressive strength, loss of elastic modulus, cracking and spalling of the concrete. To determine whether a structure can be repaired rather than demolished after a fire, an assessment of structural integrity must be made. To assess the remaining bearing capacity of the structural elements after fire, information of the temperatures reached inside the elements is necessary. On heating, a change in color from normal to a pink/red is often observed and this is useful since it coincides with the onset of significant loss of concrete strength. The purpose of this study is to quantify changes in color for blast-furnace slag concrete using photo image analysis and to identify the relationship between color change and increasing temperatures. For this purpose, we manufactured concrete samples with varying water-to-binder ratios and heated them to target temperatures of 100, 200, 300, 400, 500, 600, and 700 ℃ in an electric oven, whereupon their color changes in photos of the specimen were measured using photoshop program. The result of this study shows that color changes in a concrete exposed to high temperature have a consistent relationship with several variables according to RGB, HSB, and Lab color coordinates. Therefore, it is possible to estimate how much temperature the specimen was exposed considering these results of color change.
ASPEN plus를 이용한 석탄 가스화 복합 발전시스템 공정 모델링

Integrated gasification combined cycle (IGCC) is an efficient and environment-friendly power generation system which is capable of burning low-ranked coals and other renewable resources such as biofuels, petcokes and residues. In this study some process modeling on a conceptual entrained flow gasifier was conducted using the ASPEN Plus process simulator. The layout of the model includes a pressurized entrained flow gasify reactor, a series of purification gas unit, COS hydrolysis reactor, MDEA column. One of purposes of this simulation is an effective approach for simulation gasification system. The effects of change of heat duty and pressure in the gasify reactor on the gasification process are studied by sensitivity analysis using developed model.
무모르타르로 건식조립된 콘크리트블록 벽체의 성능평가 연구

최근 한반도에 발생하는 지진으로 인해 조적조 건물에 대한 피해가 많이 발생하고 있어 이에 대한 성능평가연구가 활발히 진행되고 있다. 또한 조적조 건축은 일반적으로 습식공사로 수행되어 온도에 영향을 받기 때문에 시공의 효율성이 떨어지는 단점이 있다. 본 연구에서는 모르타르를 사용하지 않고 콘크리트블록을 조립하여 벽체를 완성하는 건식조적공법을 제안해 보고 이를 실험과 해석연구를 통해 그 성능을 평가하고자 한다. 콘크리트블록 벽체의 성능을 평가하기 위해 건식조립벽체의 프리즘 압축강도, 직접 전단강도, 대각선 인장강도 실험을 수행하였고, ABAQUS FEM 해석을 통해 단면형상의 적정성을 검토하였다. 연구수행결과 모르타르를 사용하지 않고 콘크리트블록을 조립하는 건식 콘크리트블록 벽체의 압축강도와 대각선 인장강도가 일정 강도 이상을 발휘할 수 있음을 알 수 있었고, 특히 키블록의 H형 모듈이 전체 콘크리트블록의 전단키 역할을 하여 건식 콘크리트블록으로 전단강도 성능이 우수함을 알 수 있었다. 또한 주블록의 형상과 두께가 각각의 강도성능에 주된 영향을 주고 있어 최적형상과 제안된 건식공법의 현장시공성이나 내진성능에 대한 연구를 통해 현장에서 습식공법을 대체할 수 있는 공법으로 적용할 수 있을 것이다. A recent earthquake on the Korean Peninsula caused much damage to masonry buildings, and research on performance evaluation has been underway. A masonry building is generally constructed using wet construction and is affected by temperature, which reduces the efficiency of the construction. In this study, we propose a dry construction technique for assembling concrete blocks without using mortar and evaluated its performance through experimental and analytical research. To evaluate the performance, experiments were carried out for the prismatic compressive strength, direct terminal strength, and diagonal tensile strength of the dry construction wall. The adequacy of the cross section shape was also reviewed through FEM analysis. The results show that the compressive strength and diagonal tensile strength could exert a certain intensity or higher. Furthermore, the H-type module of a key block acted as a shear key for the entire concrete block, which resulted in excellent shear strength performance. In addition, the shape and thickness of the main block have a major effect on the strength performance of each block. Therefore, an optimal shape and the proposed dry construction method could be applied to replace the wet method by studying the construction or seismic performance of the proposed method.
