Moderns have desire likely to be further good-looking concomitant with a qulitative advancement of the life. Orthognathic surgery for the correction of dentofacial deformities is a common elective procedure. It's possible to occur many complication during the operations and especially, an excessive bleeding of those may be fatal and so a tranfusion is performing for the prevention and management of that. The most notable of these for reduction of blood loss is the utilization of induced hypotensive anesthetic technique to reduce the mean arterial pressure between 55 and 60 mmHb. Another method for dealing with blood loss following orthognathic surgery is the transfusion of blood obtained as an autologous tranfusion or from banked blood. Some of the disadvantage of banked blood are overcome with the use of predeposited autologous transfusion. But currently, surgeons try so that even autologous transfusion may not transfuse the patients. We made a comparative study of hematologic change and transfusion requirement based on a series of 200 patients who had an orthognathic surgical procedure at Chonbuk National University during the period 2001-2005. This study is to make a comparative analysis of an post-operative hematologic (Hemoglobin, Hematocrit, Red blood cell) change and duration of the procedure under induced hypotensive anesthesia in healthy orthognathic patients.

Fixed drug eruption (FDE) is a drug-induced disorder that may appear as patches or bullae. It recurs at the same sites as those involved in exposure to the same drug (causative drug). We encountered two cases of generalized FDE, and both patients had a history of diclofenac exposure before the onset of skin lesions. In the first case, an 82-year-old female patient presented with multiple erythematous patches on the trunk and lower extremities. In the second case, a 71-year-old male patient developed multiple bullae on violaceous patches on the trunk and extremities. The findings of histopathologic examinations were indicative of the diagnosis of FDEs. Although diclofenac is commonly used as a non-steroidal inflammatory drug, diclofenac-induced generalized FDE occurs rarely and has not been reported in Korea. With reuse of causative drugs, the size and number of lesions tend to increase. Therefore, early diagnosis of FDE is important, and avoidance of repeated exposure to drugs should be educated
실내환경에서 휘발성 유기화합물에 대한 내성이 있는 자생식물의 선발과 그들의 정화 메카니즘

자생식물을 이용한 휘발성유기화합물의 제거효과에 대해 알아보고자 우리나라의 자생식물인 까마귀쪽나무(Litsea japonica), 백량금(Ardisia crenata), 바위취(Saxifraga stolonifera), 동백나무(Camelia japonica), 굴거리나무(Daphniphyllum macropodum), 이대(Pseudosasa japonica), 남천(Nandina domestica), 팔손이(Fatsia japonica), 얼룩식나무(Aucuba japonica ‘Crotonifolia’)와 대조구로 스파티필럼(Spathiphyllum ‘Manua Loa’)을 선정하여 벤젠, 톨루엔, 크실렌 가스를 접촉실험한 결과 대조구인 스파티필럼과 팔손이, 까마귀쪽나무, 백량금이 수착효과가 좋았다. 선발된 이들 식물들을 대상으로 벤젠가스에 대한 내성과 정화 메카니즘을 살펴보았는데 까마귀쪽나무를 제외한 세 종의 식물은 장기접촉 후기공확산저항치가 줄어들고 광합성이 증가하여 가스의 체내 흡수과정 중에 광합성을 이용한다는 것을 알 수 있었다. 그러나 광합성량이나 기공확산저항치와 수착능과 비례하지는 않았다. 효소활성을 측정한 결과 CAT의 활성은 대부분의 식물에서 초기에 급격하게 증가하다가 서서히 줄어드는 경향이었으며, POD활성은 접촉시간이 경과함에 따라 모든 식물에서 점차 높아지는 추세를 보였고, PPO활성 역시 점차 높아졌는데 식물에 따라 증가속도에서 차이가 나타났다. 그러나 SOD는 활성의 감소가 늦게 나타났는데 이미 스트레스에 대한 저항능력이 떨어진 것이라고 생각된다. 잎의 전해질과 페놀물질 유출량은 장기접촉 후 모두 증가하였다. This study was carried out to investigate the sorption ability of 9 indigenous plants, Litsea japonica, Ardisia crenata, Saxifraga stolonifera, Camelia japonica, Daphniphyllum macropodum, Pseudosasa japonica, Nandina domestica, Fatsia japonica, Aucuba japonica ‘Crotonifolia’, and 1 foliage plant, Spathiphyllum ‘Manua Loa’ to benzene gas at <0.5 ㎎ㆍm⁻³. Among the indigenous plants, sorption rate of Fatsia, Litsea, Ardisia were the high concentration of benzene, toluene, and xylene. Also, in Litsea japonica, Ardisia crenata, Fatsia japonica, and Spathiphyllum ‘Manua Loa’, plant responses to stress by benzene gas was measured. After 176 hours exposure to benzene gas by Spathiphyllum, Ardisia, and Fatsia, all the plants showed a decrease of stomatal resistance and an increase of photosynthesis because they absorbed benzene gas during their photosynthetic process. But photosynthesis and stomatal resistance were not direct proportion with gas sorption. Benzene gas was absorbed by photosynthesis and at the same time, adsorbed through leaf surface. Cells showed increase in levels of peroxidase, polyphenol oxidase, and superoxide dismutase activities with benzene stresses. Spathiphyllum showed, however, decrease in level of superoxide dismutase activities.
코골이용 sleep splint 장착 전후의 공기역학적인 연구

If there are problems for us to sleep, we are faced with fatigue and dizziness in the day. Snoring and OSAS (obstructive sleep apnea syndrome) during sleeping are the main cause of sleep disorder. Treatments through surgical method and sleep splint can be performed to treat snoring and OSAS. Relapse of snoring and OSAS is common after treatment by surgical method. But, Recently sleep splint is frequently applied to treat snoring and OSAS with surgical treatment, because it is convenient and conservative. Sleep splint treat snoring and OSAS by ensuring airway through nose. As first step of fabrication occlusal bite is gained at a point that patient get feeling of increased nasal breathing in supined position, and next, the bite is transfered to sleep splint. This study surveyed the effect of sleep splint by questionnaire to the out-patients (the Dept. of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, Chonbuk National University Hospital) weared sleep splint and their partners, secondarily measured airflow through nose by aerophone II after wearing sleep splint and finally evaluated the effect of treatment of snoring and OSAS by sleep splint. The obtained result were as follows; 1. Though 'sleep splint' couldn't eliminate fundamental problems of snoring, it could improve the symptoms when patients were selected could using the 'Nakagawa's respiration method'. 2. Patients who used the sleep splint could breathe stably when patients are sleeping stably. Wearing a 'sleep splint' improved airflow by expanding the upper airway. 3. Even though sleep splint can be made with variable materials, the patients expressed the most satisfaction on the splint with '0.75mm hard shell'. 4. The 'Herbst' may allows the mandible to move the TMJ to relax. Nevertheless, some patients experienced a discomfort or irritation. 5. In Snoring and OSAS cases, it is recommended that patients should first explore non-surgical options prior to choosing a surgical treatment.
