        The Catalytic Activities of New Metal Oxide Catalysts Modified by Graphene Oxide to Produce Propene and its Economic Evaluation

        New types of catalysts, “pure ferrite”, “ferrite coated with graphene oxide (GO‐ferrite)”, and a “reduced form of graphene oxide with ferrite (RGO‐ferrite)”, were synthesized to produce propene through the oxidative dehydrogenation (ODH) of propane. The performance of these catalysts (i.e., yield and selectivity) was examined through laboratory experiments over the temperature range, 623 to 923 K. Based on the experimental results, the contribution of GO to the selectivity to propene was determined, and a mathematical model of the reaction system was developed and applied. The model was applied to an economic evaluation of each catalyst, and the annual profits of these three different types of catalysts were compared.

        Superior Effect of Ultrasonic Homogenization to Mechanical Agitation on Accelerating Reaction Rates in Asymmetric Ring Opening of Epoxides

        Double-layered mesoporous silica was prepared for use as an efficient support for the encapsulation of chiral salen Co-BF3 complexes in the pore channels. The heterogenized chiral salen complex was applied successfully to the asymmetric ring opening (ARO) of terminal epoxides using water, alcohols, and carboxylic acids as nucleophiles. Although the homogeneous salen catalyst exhibited higher catalytic activity than the heterogenized catalyst in ARO reactions as expected, the heterogeneous salen catalysts exhibited high catalytic activities that were sufficient for practical applications. This study evaluated the unique contribution of ultrasonic irradiation as a powerful mixing medium to improve the kinetics in comparison to conventional mechanical agitation during the ARO reactions. Both the homogeneous and heterogeneous chiral salen complexes catalyzed enantioselectively the racemic or chiral epoxides under ultrasonication. The adoption of ultrasonic irradiation in the catalysis resulted in a superior mixing effect to vigorous mechanical stirring. The reaction time was shortened to obtain the highest enantiomeric excess (%ee) when ultrasonic irradiation was applied to the reaction system. Through the ARO reaction of epoxide by phenol derivatives, the highly enantio-enriched β-blockers could be synthesized easily from racemic terminal epoxides or chiral ones using chiral cobalt–salen catalysts. The regioselective ARO reaction of (R)-ECH with propionic or butyric acid proceeded smoothly at room temperature under ultrasonic exposure in the presence of the heterogenized catalyst. The corresponding glycidyl alkylates were produced with excellent optical purity of up to 98%ee. The chiral cobalt–salen complexes encapsulated in MCM-41 retained its catalytic activity and enantioselectivity for three recycles. Consequently, the heterogeneous chiral catalysts anchored in MCM-41 offered the practical advantages of facile reuse through simple recovery from the reactant and products.

        Unusual Pseudoaneurysm of the Dorsalis Pedis Artery after an Iatrogenic Injury

        Aneurysm and pseudoaneurysm of the dorsalis pedis artery (DPA) are rare vascular entities. Pseudoaneurysms of the DPA are commonly due to blunt trauma, sharp penetrating injury, fracture, or iatrogenic injury. Herein, we report the case of a patient with a rare iatrogenic pseudoaneurysm that occurred after blood sampling. The diagnosis was suspected based on palpitation of a pulsatile mass on the dorsal foot and confirmed by color Doppler ultrasound and computed tomography angiography. Surgical treatment was successfully performed by reconstruction with an autologous venous graft. The patient recovered well, with no ischemic complications.

        Thoracic Scoliosis in Patients with Primary Spontaneous Pneumothorax

        Background: Primary spontaneous pneumothorax (PSP) affects patients without clinically apparent lung disorder found in tall and thin young male. Scoliosis refers to curves exceeding 10° Cobb angle observed through chest X-ray and affects 2% to 4% of adolescents. Both conditions are commonly encountered in primary health care setting. The aim of this study is to access the correlation of thoracic scoliosis and PSP in adolescent. Methods: A retrospective analysis was conducted for patients diagnosed for PSP in Konyang University Hospital between January 2010 and March 2017. Chest X-rays of 222 patients and 155 normal control (NC) cases were reviewed to measure the Cobb angle. Greater than 10° of Cobb angle is diagnosed as scoliosis. Results: Scoliosis in patient with PSP has higher incidence than that of NC group (p<0.001). Median value of Cobb angle is 12.9° in PSP group and 14.7° in NC group. Directional relationship between scoliosis and pneumothorax in PSP group is also observed; 40.5% cases are ipsilateral and 59.5% are contralateral. Conclusion: PSP patients tend to have thoracic scoliosis more commonly compared with normal healthy adolescent. Scoliosis may contribute to heterogeneity of alveolar pressure which exacerbates subpleural bleb formation that can cause pneumothorax. The causal relationship is unclear and further studies are needed in the future.

        전문여대생의 학업스트레스와 대학생활적응과의 관계에서 감사성향, 학업적자기효능감의 매개효과

        The purpose of this study in to verify the impact of gratitude disposition and academic self-efficacy on the process in which academic stress of college freshman are affected in adjustment to college. For this, research models were established based on prior studies and processes were verified through correlation analysis and structural equation analysis. Data was collected from 1785 freshman students from college in Incheon. Four measurement instruments were employed: Academic Stress Scale, Gratitude Questionnaire, Academic Self-Efficacy Scale, Students Adjustment to College Questionnaire. The results showed that academic stress showed negative effect on adjustment to college, gratitude disposition, and academic self-efficacy. The dual mediation effect by gratitude disposition and academic self-efficacy was also verified. Implications for adjustment to college and academic guidance, limitations of the study and suggestions for future researches are discussed. 본 연구는 전문여자대학 신입생의 학업스트레스가 대학생활적응에 미치는 영향을 확인하고 그 과정에서 감사성향과 학업적자기효능감의 영향력을 검증하였다. 이를 위하여 선행연구를 고찰하여 연구모형을 수립하고 상관관계분석과 구조방정식 분석을 통하여 변인들 간의 관계를 확인하였다. 인천지역의 전문여대 신입생들 1785명을 대상으로 학업스트레스, 학업적자기효능감, 감사성향, 대학생활적응 척도로 구성된 설문을 실시하였다. 연구 결과, 학업스트레스는 대학생활적응, 감사성향, 학업적자기효능감과 모두 부적 상관을 보였다. 또한 연구 모형을 검증한 결과 감사성향과 학업적자기효능감이 학업스트레스와 대학생활적응을 순차적으로 부분 매개하는 이중매개효과가 유의한 것으로 나타났다. 이러한 결과를 토대로 대학생의 적응 및 학업 지도에 대한 시사점과 본 연구의 제한점 및 후속 연구를 위한 제언을 논의하였다.

      • 한국 드라마 수용에 있어서 국가별 감성 반응 분석: 드라마 <도깨비>를 중심으로

        `한류` 또는 `K-컬처`로 알려지는 한국 문화의 국제적 수요 증가에도 불구하고, 한류 콘텐츠 수요는 여전히 아시아 국가에 편증되어 있다. 이는 콘텐츠 수요가 정서 및 환경적 특성에 영향을 받는다는 사실에 근거하지만 한류 컨텐츠의 어떠한 요소가 수용자에게 호소되고, 인식되는지에 대한 학술 연구는 거의 이루어지지 않았다. 본 연구에서는 불특정 다수를 대상으로 감상되는 TV 프로그램의 질적 측정을 목적으로, 국내외에서 큰 열풍이 된 드라마 도깨비를 선정하여 어떠한 감성적 요소가 수용자에게 정서적으로 가장 많은 호응을 받고 소비되고 있는지 조사하였다. 한국, 일본, 미국수용자를 대상으로 한국 드라마 감상 시 SNS 텍스트에 추출되는 수용 감성 단어를 러셀 감성 모델의 4분면에 배치되는 감정 세기를 활성화 정도(능동/수동)와, 정서(쾌/불쾌)로 구분하였다. 실험결과, 감성 변수와 감성 단어의 상관계수는 p<0.05로 유의하게 나타났고, 감성 단어 중요도는 한국의 경우 happy>sad>gloomy 미국의 경우는 happy>glad>sad, 일본의 경우는 pleased>sad>astonished순으로 검출되었고, 감성적 반응 정도에 국가별 차이를 드러내다. 국내에서는 행복과 슬픔이 깊은 연관성으로 작동하는 반면, 일본에서는 행복과 유사 감성인 기쁨이 슬픔과 덜 깊은 연관성을 드러냈다. 미국의 경우 행복과 슬픔의 연관성이 매우 낮게 나타났다.

      • Singlet Oxygen Mediated Non-diffusive Photopolymers for Hologram Recording Materials

        Usually photopolymers for 3D holographic recording materials were used refractive index changing by laser induced polymerization of photo-reactive monomers that leads to the diffusion of an initial homogeneous mixture of component. In this study, we present a non-diffusion process using porphyrin sensitized singlet oxygen. When porphyrin absorbs light, oxygen molecules become highly reactive singlet state oxygen via energy transfer mechanism. From the high reactivity of singlet state oxygen, it changes the structure of surrounding chemical and thereby causes a change in the refractive index. This refractive index change makes it possible to record holograms. In this study, we synthesized the acrylated porphyrin that generates singlet oxygen at 600 nm wavelength and characterized the patterning properties by singlet oxygen through NMR, PL and UV-vis spectroscopy.
