Probiotics have many effects such as antihypertensive, prevention of cancer, antioxidation, reduction of dermatitis symptoms, improvement of mineral absorption, reduction of allergic symptoms, and decrease of cholesterol, However, the main role of probiotics is that they balance intestinal microbials proportion. L. acidophilus is one of probiotics and microflora in intestine. It has an acidification activity, aroma production, texture formation and probiotics properties. We studied on the roles of L. acidophilus in mice. In this study, body weights of mice were decreased when administration of L. acidophilus (1×1010 CFU) and swimming ability has been raised than a normal group after feeding on L. acidophilus (1×1010 CFU). After taking L. acidophilus (1×1010 CFU), total white cells were increased than a normal group; hemoglobin and thrombocytes were increased. The level of cholesterol and triglyceride were decreased in blood analysis. We knew L. acidophilus is related to innate immune system. We found out the secretion of cationic peptide was increased in the Lysoplate assays as a result of L. acidophilus (1×1010 CFU) administration. Appearance rate of lysozyme was also increased than the normal group on an immunohistochemistry stain. We confirmed L. acidophilus contributes to host health through innate immune system stimulation. L. acidophilus more than 1×1010 CFU are thought to be beneficial for the host health and prevention of intestinal diseases in field condition.

The forkhead-box J1 (FOXJ1) transcription factor could suppress a spontaneous activation of T cells and κBβ that results in re-pression of NF-κB activity. In Foxj1 deficiency mice, systemic autoimune inflamation is quite comon symptom. Therefore, deregulated Foxj1 is suposed to be associated with autoimmune diseases and/or other inflammatory diseases. Previously, we identified that polymorphisms of human FOXJ1 gene (g.460C>T, g.1805G>T and g.3375G>C) are associated with al-lergic rhinitis in a Korean population. In present study, we compared the genotype and allele frequencies of these SNPs between healthy controls and systemic lu-pus erythematosus (SLE) or rheumatoid arthritis (RA) patients. We also investigated the relationships be-twen each genotype and the expression levels of anti- nuclear antibodies in SLE patients, and rheumatoid patients. The frequencies of haplotypes constructed by these FOXJ1 SNPs were compared between con-trols and SLE (or RA) patients. The results of genotype and allele analysis showed that the prevalence of poly-morphism g.3375G>C was associated with the sus-ceptibility of SLE (P = 0.0072 and 0.0042, respectively). But no significant association was found with RA. In the haplotype analysis, however, the main CGG patients (P = 0.048).

AIDP는 진행하는 양측성의 근력약화 및 심부건 반사의 저하나 소실을 특징으로 하는 질환으로, 루푸스의 신경정신증상의 하나로 발생한다. 진단을 위하여 신경학적 진찰, 뇌척수액 검사, 영상 검사 및 신경전도검사가 필요하고 치료는 일반적인 AIDP와 달리 코르티코스테로이드와 면역 억제제의 사용이 효과적이다. 저자들은 루푸스의 질병활성 없이 경과 관찰하던 환자에서 갑자기 발생한 사지의 근력 악화에 대하여 신경학적 진찰과 신경전도검사를 통해 AIDP로 진단하고 고용량 코르티코스테로이드와 시클로포스타미드를 투여하여 성공적으로 치료한 증례를 국내에서 처음으로 경험하였기에 문헌고찰과 함께 보고하는 바이다. Neuropsychiatric manifestations in patients with systemic lupus erythematosus are fairly common, with a prevalence of 37∼95%. Among 19 neuropsychiatric manifestations, acute inflammatory demyelinating polyradiculoneuropathy (AIDP) is quite rare, and is characterized by progressive, symmetric muscle weakness accompanied by absent or depressed deep tendon reflexes. Generally, plasma exchange and intravenous immunoglobulin are the main treatment modalities. Here, we report a case of AIDP in a 29-year-old SLE patient, who was fully recovered with a treatment of high-dose glucocorticoid and immunosuppressive agents. Ours case suggests that AIDP should be treated differently in SLE patients to avoid disastrous results.
