Human term placenta was fractionatted by differential centrifugation into cytoplasmic and mitochondrial fraction. The activity of cytoplasmic α-glycerophosphate dehydrogenase (G3P oxidoreductase (EC 1.1.1.94 : G3P : NAD 2-oxidoreductase)) was assayed according to the method of Gonzalez-Cerezo and the activity of mitochondrial α-glycerophosphate dehydrogenase (G3P dehydrogenase (EC 1.1.99.5 : G3P : cytochrome oxidoreductase)) was determined by the procedure of Dawson and Thorne. Unusually high rate of α-glycerophosphate oxidation was found both in cytoplasm and in mitochondria. Despite the disparity of results by some authors, the present finding strongly suggests that the α-glycerophosphate shuttle system operates actively in human term placenta.

The effect of pigment-resin-solvent interaction on dispersion of pigment has been studied. The solubility parameter of TiO_2 pigment, determined in terms of suspension behavior of pigment in various solvents, was 10.27 (cal/cc)^1/2(δ_d = 8.23, δ_p = 3.45, δ_h = 5.10). The solubility parameter of Acryloid B-44, determined using rheological parameters of resin solution in different solvent, was 9.4 (cal/cc)^1/2. The solvent showing weaker interaction with pigment increased the adsorption of resin on to the pigment, resulting in higher dispersibility and higher storage stability of dispersion.

여러 종류의 용제와 수지용액에 있어서의 CaCO₃ 안료의 분산 안정성을 Dynometer를 이용하여 조사하였다. Dynometer를 이용하여 비교적 단시간에 분산계의 분산 안정성을 평가할 수 있었으며, Dynometer를 이용한 분산 안정성 평가로부터 구한 CaCO₃ 안료의 용해성 파라미터, δ는 11.62(δ_d = 8.04, δ_p = 5.05, δ_h = 6.70) 이었다. 안료와 친화력이 약한 용제가 첨가되는 경우 수지 용액내에서의 안료표면에의 수지 흡착층을 증가시켜 수지 용액내에서의 분산 안정성을 증가시켰다. 수지 용액 제조시 소량첨가된 용제도 안료를 포함한 전체 분산계의 유동성과 분산 안정성에 큰 영향을 미친다는 것을 알 수 있었다. The effect of solvent on the dispersion stability of CaCO₃ pigment in various solvents and resin solutions has been studied using Dynometer. Dispersion stability can be estimated in a relatively short time by means of Dynometer and the solubility parameter, δ, of CaCO₃ determined from dispersion stability was 11.62(δ_d = 8.04, δ_p = 5.05, δ_h = 6.70). The solvent showing weaker interaction with pigment increased the adsorption of resin on to the pigment, resulting in higher dispersion stability in resin solution. It was found that the rheological properties and dispersion stability of pigmented resin solution were depending strongly on the solvent added in small amount in the formulation.

o-자일렌 산화반응의 반응 메카니즘과 촉매활성에 대한 산화바나듐의 산화상태 및 담체의 영향을 연구하였다. o-자일렌의 산화반응은 연계반응 메카니즘 및 병렬반응 메카니즘에 의해 동시에 진행되는 것으로 나타났다. 높은 산화수를 지닌 산화바나듐은 무수프탈산으로의 선택적 산화반응에 유리한 것으로 나타났고, 반면에 낮은 산화수의 경우는 무수프탈산의 CO 및 CO_2로의 완전 산화반응을 유발함을 알 수 있었다. 그리고 결정성 V_2O_5가 비결정성의 경우보다 부분 산화반응에 대한 높은 선택도를 나타내었다. The reaction mechanism and the effects of the oxidation state of vanadium oxide and of support on catalytic activity for the oxidation of o-xylene were investigated. The oxidation of o-xylene simultaneously proceeded through the consecutive and parallel mechanisms. The high valence of vanadium favored selective oxidation to phthalic anhydride, while the low valence caused complete oxidation of phthalic anhydride to CO and CO_2. Crystalline V_2O_5 showed better selectivity for partial oxidation rather than amorphous one.
