반순환여과장치에서 무지개송어의 적절한 사육밀도와 수질환경조건

This experiment was carried out for the determination of the optimal breeding density of rainbow trout(Oncorhynchus mykiss) and environmental conditions in semi-closed recirculation system. Since under the conditions of various research programmes, comparable trout origins rank differently, it must be supposed that genotype-environment interaction can occur under different stress situation (e. g. different density/PVC rearing unit). Thus, control of test environment of utmost importance both for performance testing and for breeding decisions. The recirculation system consists of 35 single PVC-cylinder with a water volume of 80 litre, respectively. In this experiment water renewal was lOm^3/day and density 75∼400 fries or fingerlings in each cylinder. The concentration of ammonia, nitrite, nitrate, and pH were measured weekly during the experiment . The final fish: water ratio was 1: 18.6(or 150kg live body weight per 2.8m^3 water), Water temperature(9±1˚C), the values of pH(7.3∼7.8), the concentration of ammonia(0.1∼1.Oppm), nitrate(15∼20ppm), total nitrogen(8.7∼9.8ppm), and phosphate(0.3∼2.Oppm) were within the safe range. The feed efficiency was better than any other domestic animal and was 1.46. The mortality was 5.6%, and the optimal stocking density was considered to be 200fish/cylinder It can be concluded that the breeding experiments implemented at the aquacultural test station, except for the beginning phase of each test, have not been affected by environmental factors.

Objectives : This study aimed to evaluate the protective effects of Seonpyejeongcheon-tang (SJT) on elastase-induced lung injury. Materials and Methods : The extract of SJT was treated to A549 cells and an elastase-induced lung injury mouse model. Then, various parameters such as cell-based cytoprotective activity and histopathological findings were analyzed. Results : SJT showed a protective effect on elastase-induced cytotoxicity in A549 cells. This effect was correlated with analysis for caspase 3 levels, collagen and elastin contents, protein level of cyclin B 1, Cdk1, and Erk1/2, and gene expression of TNF-$\alpha$ and IL-$1{\beta}$ in A549 cells. SJT treatment also revealed a protective effect on elastase-induced lung injury in mouse model. This effect was evidenced via histopathological findings, including immunofluoresence stains against elastin, collagen, and caspase 3, and protein levels of cyclin B1, Cdc2, and Erk1/2 in lung tissue. Conclusion : These data suggest that SJT has pharmaceutical properties on lung injury. This study thus provides scientific evidence for the efficacy of SJT for clinical application to patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease.

This study was carried out to investigate the histological changes of sperm cells in testis, obtained from 100 of 3-year-old male rainbow trout (Oncorhynchus mykiss) collected and analysed from March in 1992 to February in 1993. Especially, the ultrastructural changes of spermatogonia, primary and secondary spermatocytes, spermatids, and spermatozoa were examined to describe the reproductive cycles of this species. The results obtained in this study were as follows: The ultrastructures of the gonadotrophs largely parallel the cyclical changes in the testes. Each nest of cells belongs to one spermatogenetic stage, although nests at different stages can be found within the one lobule. At first keterochromatin is dispersed and then is condensed. In mature gamete, the nucleus is dense and homogeneous. The nuclear membrane appeared at the beginning of differentiation. In spermatogonia, Sertoli cells are located at the periphery of their cytoplasm. In the primary spermatocytes, the small mitochondria are abundant over the outer cytoplasm. During cell differentiation, the cytoplasm decreases and the nucleus increases. In spermatids, the protein masses moved towards the posterior part of the nucleus. In late spermatids, the two large mitochondria are located over the cytoplasm. In spermatozoa, two spheroidal mitochondria (about 145nm long) are situated in parallel between the nucleus and the axoneme. Spermatozoa mitochondria are assembled into an organized sheath surrounding the outer dense fibres and axoneme of the flagellar midpiece. The two centrioles are quite separate and the central pair and sheath complex of the flagellum is inserted into the base of the distal centriole.

무지개송어의 유전 육종학적 연구 II. 무지개송어의 난소 발달에 영향을 미치는 혈청중 LH, FSH, Estradiol-$17{\beta}$ 수준과 Albumin, Total Protein, Triglycerides 함량과의 관계 및 성선지수 변화간의 상관관계

1989년 3월부터 1990년 2월까지 정상적인 광주기 상태에서 한달에 한번씩 채취된 무지개 송어 암컷의 혈청중 LH, FSH, estradiol-$17{\beta}$ 농도, albumin, globulin, triglycerides의 변화 그리고 GSI의 변화를 조사하였고, 각 호르몬과 혈청성분 그리고 GSI간의 상관관계를 알기 위하여 본 연구를 실시하였다. 본 연구에서 얻어진 결과는 다음과 같이 나타났다. 1. 혈청중 LH 수준은 11월에 가장 높게 나타났다. 2. 10월부터 그 이듬해 2월까지 혈청 LH 수준은 점차적으로 낮아지는 경향을 나타내었다. 3. LH 및 FSH와 같은 GTH의 수준은 인공산란직후 낮게 나타났고, 난황형성(vitellosenesis)이 개시되는 늦여름부터 유의하게 증가하였다. 4. 혈청중 FSH 수준은 LH와 estradiol-$17{\beta}$에 대해서 고도의 유의성(P<0.001)을 나타내었다. 5. 혈청중 LH는 estradiol-$17{\beta}$에 대해서 고도의 유의성(P<0.001)을 나타내었다. 6. negative feedback mechanism에 의해서 2월에 estradiol-$17{\beta}$의 수준이 감소하였다. 7. 혈청중 albumin과 total protein의 함량은 난황형성이 개시되는 8월에 유의성있게 증가하다가 산란직전인 11월에 가장 높은 수준을 나타내었다. 8. 혈청중 triglycerides 함량은 8월에 유의하게 증가하였고, 1월에 최고 수준을 나타내었다. 9. 난직경 및 GSI의 크기로 나타나는 난모세포의 성장은 8월에 유의성있게 증가하다가 산란시기인 1월에 최고 수준을 나타내었다. 10. 혈청중 LH와 FSH와의 상관계수는 +0.844이다. 11. 혈청중 LH와 estradiol-$17{\beta}$와의 상관계수는 +0.947이다. 12. 혈청중 FSH와 estradiol-$17{\beta}$와의 상관계수는 +0.894이다. 13. 혈청중 estradiol-$17{\beta}$와 albumin과의 상관계수는 +0.634이다. 14. 혈청중 estradiol-$17{\beta}$와 total protein의 상관계수는 +0.947이다. 15. 혈청중 LH와 GSI와의 상관계수는 +0.506이다. 16. 혈청중 FSH와 estradiol-$17{\beta}$와의 상관계수는 +0.586이다. 17. 혈청중 estradiol-$17{\beta}$와 GSI와의 상관계수는 +0.694이다. 18. 혈청중 LH와 total protein과의 상관계수는 +0.947이다. 19. 혈청중 FSH와 total protein과의 상관계수는 +0.709이다. 20. 혈청중 FSH와 triglycerides와의 상관계수는 +0.549이다. 21. 혈청중 estradiol-$17{\beta}$와 triglycerides와의 상관계수는 +0.673이다. 22. positive feedback mechanism에 의해서 LH, FSH와 estradiol-$17{\beta}$는 간을 자극시켜 albumin, total protein 및 triglycerides를 분필시킴으로서 난황형성(vitellosenesis)에 관여하는 것으로 나타났다. This study was undertaken to understand the seasonal changes of hormone levels such as luteinizing hormone (LH), follicle stimulating hormone (FSH) and estradiol-$17{\beta}$, serum components such as albumin, total protein and triglycerides, and GSI of rainbow trout (Onco-rhynchus mykiss) under the normal-light circumstances. LH levels were the highest in November whereas FSH levels were decreased progressively from October to February. Serum GTH, such as LH and FSH, levels were low immediately after egg-stripping and were significantly increased in the summer in association with the initiation of vitellogenesis. Serum albumin, total protein, and triglycerides were significantly increased in August in association with initiation of vitellogenesis and were peak in November prior to egg-stripping. Oocyte growth, measured by oocyte diameter and GSI, was significantly increased in August and showed the highest value in January. Correlation coefficients of serum LH with FSH and estradiol-$17{\beta}$ were +0.844 and +0.947, respectively. Correlation coefficients of estradiol-$17{\beta}$ with albumin and total protein were +0.634 and +0.859, respectively. Correlation coefficients of serum estradiol-$17{\beta}$ with triglycerides and GSI were +0.673 and +0.694, respectively. Probably by positive feedback mechanism, LH, FSH and estradiol-$17{\beta}$ appeared to stimulate to liver to secrete albumin, total protein and triglycerides for vitellosenesis.

Objectives : This study analyzed the contents of research papers of complementary and alternative medicine (CAM) concerning chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) published in PubMed during the last 5 years. This study was conducted to help clinical studies for treating COPD with Oriental medicine. Materials and Methods : We inspected 31 theses and scrutinized their objectives, periods, participants, materials and methods, methods of assessment, results and Jadad score. Results : The treatments in the studies were supplements, physical training, acupuncture, acu-TENS, Bojungikgi-tang (Buzhongyiqi-tang), counseling, breathing training, osteopathic manipulative treatment, reflexology, and distractive auditory stimuli. The aims of treatment were improvement of exercise capacity, lung function, quality of life, oxidative status, nutrient status, systemic inflammation, and cessation of smoking. The median for treatment period of study was 8 weeks, the median number of participants was 35 and the differences between mean $FEV_1$ from groups were less than 10% in 22 studies. The methods of assessment were lung function test, exercise capacity test, muscle strength test, questionnaire of QoL, laboratory studies, and measurement of nutrient state. The mean of Jadad score was $2.4\;{\pm}\;1.03$, and 24 treatment were assessed as effective. Conclusion : Recent CAM studies of COPD have focused on various topics in alternative and complementary medicine, and it is necessary to provide objective studies for treatment of this disease with Oriental medicines.
