신 노년층을 위한 ‘스마트 홈 퍼니처’ 디자인 제안 연구

As the new silver generation shows the remarkable aging process, it would be necessary to handle the issues directly connected to health and safety together. It is needed to develop the physical devices that could check the residents’ conditions, and also prevent and actively cope with all sorts of emergency situations and safety incidents in advance at ordinary home or silver town. Also, the new silver generation is feeling the relative deprivation of opportunities to work in daily life, and also feeling alienated due to the lack of their own work space after retirement. As a huge loss in society, the necessity to maximize the social efficiency is rising by providing the products that could complement the declined all sorts of cognitive abilities in accordance with natural aging, properly utilizing their experiences and abilities, and expanding the opportunity for self-realization. As an alternative, there is a demand for smart furniture combined with the technical convergence such as ICT and IoT necessary for the new housing space based on digital technology, and smart phone functions, suitable for the new paradigm. Also, the needs and economic power of the new silver generation are the compelling market with growth potential. Thus, it would be necessary to support diverse services for them, which could be realized through the furniture applying such all sorts of new technologies. Therefore, this study aims to contribute to the development of furniture design and furniture industry in the future, by suggesting the ‘Smart-home Furniture’ combined with high technology that could be used by the new silver generation at home or silver town in the future. 신 노년층은 노화현상이 현저하게 되는 시기이기 때문에 건강과 안전에 직결된 문제를 함께 다뤄야 할 필요성이 있다. 일 반가정이나 실버타운(Silver Town) 등에서 거주자의 상태를 체크하고, 언제 도래할지 모르는 각종 위급상황과 안전사고를 미연에 방지하고 능동적으로 대처할 수 있는 물리적 장치의 개발이 필요하다. 또한 신 노년층은 은퇴 이후의 일상생활에서 접하는 업무기회의 상대적 박탈감과 자신만의 업무 공간부족 등으로 인한 소외감을 겪고 있다. 이는 사회적인 큰 손실로 자연적인 노화현상에 따른 각종 인지능력의 저하를 보완하는 제품을 제공해서 이들의 경험과 능력을 적절하게 활용하고, 자아실현의 기회를 넓혀줌으로써 사회적 효율을 극대화시킬 필요성이 대두되고 있다. 그 대안으로 디지털 테크놀로지(Digital Technology)에 기반 한 새로운 주거공간에서 필요로 하는 ICT, IoT 등의 기술융합 과 스마트폰 기능을 가구로 유입한 지능형(Smart) 가구가 새로운 패러다임(Paradigm)에 맞게 요구되고 있다. 또한 실버세 대의 욕구와 경제력은 주목되고 있는 성장가능성 있는 시장으로 이들을 위한 다양한 서비스가 지원되는 것이 필요하며, 이 는 각종 신기술이 적용된 가구를 통해서 구현할 수 있다. 따라서 본 연구는 향후 신 노년층이 집이나 실버타운 등에서 사용 할 수 있는 하이테크(High-tech) 기술을 접목한 ‘스마트 홈 퍼니처(Smart-home Furniture)’를 제안함으로써 향후 전개될 가구산업 및 가구디자인 발전에 일조(一助)하고자 한다.

Demands for calendars are constantly decreasing due to the development of IT devices such as smart phones. Although the necessity and frequency of using paper calendars to check the dates have been greatly decreased, they still are indispensable medium for our everyday lives, as they serve important roles providing convenience in time standards and life-planning. In other words, calendar can be called as a suitable media having both original function for scheduling and aesthetic function as being the subject of appreciation. These calendars still intimately exist with direct relationship with our everyday lives. Demands for interior pieces are on the increase as people want various interior designs. This paper studies application plan of perpetual calendar as an interior piece that is visually appreciative. Also, the principle on semi-permanent calculation for the day of the month is studied and problems are identified from preexisting researches. Therefore, a semi-permanent and eco-friendly perpetual calendar has been developed so that it can be used throughout several years like an old tree, rather than being thrown away every year. 오늘날 스마트폰 등 정보통신(IT) 기기의 발전으로 달력의 수요는 점점 줄고 있다. 단순히 날짜를 확인하는 종이달력의 필요성과 사용빈도는 현격히 줄었지만, 달력은 인간생활의 시간적 기준과 계획성 있는 생활을 꾸려나가는 것에 대한 편의를 위해 만든 것으로 우리 생활에 없어서는 안 되는 매개체이다. 즉, 사람들의 일정관리를 위한 본원적 기능과 감상의 대상이 되는 심미적 기능을 지닌 합목적성 미디어(Media)라고 할 수 있으며, 이러한 달력은 여전히 본래의 본질을 가지고 현대인들의 생활과 직접적인 관계를 맺고 있다. 본 연구는 오늘날 다양한 실내공간의 연출을 원하게 됨에 따라 인테리어 소품에 대한 관심도 함께 증가하는 생활공간에서 사람들이 만세력(萬歲曆)을 사용하는 동안 그 안에 표현된 시각 이미지가 감상의 대상이 될 수 있는 인테리어 소품으로서의 활용방안을 연구하였다. 또한, 반영구적으로 어느 달의 요일이든 표시가 가능한 원리를 알아보고 선행 연구를 통해 문제점을 파악하였다. 그리하여 하루, 일주일, 한 달 그리고 일 년과 기념일 등을 계획하고, 오랜 시간에 걸쳐 자란 나무처럼 오랫동안 사용되어 왔던 달력을 매년 버려지는 것이 아닌, 한 번의 구매로 반영구적으로 사용할 수 있는 친환경적인 인테리어 소품용 만세력(萬歲曆)을 디자인 개발하였다.

상관개념(相關慨念: Correlative Concept)을 적용한 가구디자인에 관한 연구

Recently, the aspect of consumers' preference for design has been changed to a pattern of respect for personality, based on 'personal value of passion'. The differentiated personal passion of modern people does not allow them to select mass-produced industrial product, and leads them to choose life style different from others. Specially, consumers want to express. their differentiated personality by preferring and possessing the originally designed products. Therefore, the originally designed products that are clearly identifiable become the object of consumers' consideration, and stimulate the consumers' desire to purchase. According to new needs of consumers, it is required to reconsider the old design pattern of furniture based on simplicity and propose new design for furniture to meet the needs of consumers. Mass production has resulted in a strong focus on simplicity rather than difficulty and complexity of the production process. This tendency shows the design pattern that leans toward one side excluding the expression of correlative concept among design elements. This one sided design leads modern people to have no personality, and shows only simple and uniform expression of passion. Therefore, this paper is purposed to develop furniture with more personality by applying correlative concept that has been taken less seriously in the field of design to furniture design.

환경가구 디자인에 관한 연구

Environmental furniture comprises an independent design branch as distinguished from he design of street furniture. Environmental furniture helps people enjoy outdoor relaxation and cultural activities by creating convenient facilities and plays a part as the medium connecting environment and living. As a tool effecting all outdoor living conditions including home and public environment, it helps people lead a convenient and safe outdoor life. It is an important element that contributes to the image of outdoor scenery. Therefore, the design of environmental furniture should : 1)consider environment including 3R(Recycle, Reuse and Reduce) which makes harmony with nature without destroying it. 2)seek qualitative improvement by using environmental friendly materials and continuously developing new materials. 3)be assisted by the administrative support from the government to make the environmental furniture design an integral part of the city plan. The quality of a city environment will be greatly improved when people's interest in and their changed view towards environmental furniture is effected.

전통 옻칠/갈이기법을 이용한 목기 디자인에 관한 연구

When harmonized with modem design, the Korean traditional lacquered woodenware with a history of about two thousand years has the potential to appeal to the global sense of industrial craftsmanship as it is superior to any in terms of material used and is very friendly environmentally. To maximize this potential, however, it is necessary to develop a firm infrastructure for the supply of lacquer, including the forestation for the lacquer wood, the production of lacquer, the improvement of refining skills, and the development of better paints. Also ways must be found to induce the craftsmanship at the turning lathe to be elevated to a major independent industrial craft. Only then the mass-produced lacquered woodenware for everyday use and as tourist goods, showing the best merits of the Korean lathing technique, will be displayed and accepted with a new appreciation.

탄성(彈性)을 활용한 목재가구 디자인에 관한 연구 - 암체어(Arm-chair) 디자인의 진행과정을 중심으로 -

The building and design of furniture is constantly evolving by new materials and technologies. While wood has been commonly used as a material for furniture and interior accessories due to its wide availability and malleability, new materials based on synthetic resin and metals are replacing wooden furniture due to the structural limits and lack of durability of wood-based structures. The aim of this study is to find new possibilities for wood as elastic material to utilize its strengths while maintaining the warm and positive images associates with wood. Through a comprehensive physical analysis, we identified elasticity of wood as a feature that can be utilized. Doing so, we identified the arm-chair as a model object upon which the elasticity could be applied to its seat and backrest. Through repeated experiments to test the durability of wood until the point of destruction, we arrived at the final design taking into account the detailed limits of wood elasticity. Through this study, we hope to highlight the greater possibilities for wood to be used in a variety of products and in conjunction with other materials. 인간의 기본적인 생활환경을 구성하고 삶의 질에 영향을 미치는 가구는 항상 새로운 재료와 테크놀로지(Technology)에 의 해서 끊임없이 진화하고 있다. 지금까지도 가구 및 소품 등의 재료로써 채취와 가공이 용이한 나무라는 소재가 범용적(汎 用的)으로 쓰이고 있으나 목재가 지닌 구조적인 한계, 내구성 등의 문제로 오늘날은 금속과 더불어 합성수지를 기반으로 한 새로운 소재들이 거의 모든 목재가구를 대체해 가고 있는 실정이다. 이에 인간생활을 담기에 부족함이 없던 소재인 나 무의 따듯한 감성을 유지하되 본래의 물리적 성질 중 탄성(彈性)을 활용한 쓰임새에 주목하여 목재활용의 새로운 가능성을 찾고자 함에 본 연구의 목표를 두었다. 목재가 지닌 물리적인 성질을 종합적으로 분석하는 과정에서 탄성재로서의 타당성 을 확인하였고, 효과적인 탄성 구현의 대상으로 암체어(Arm-chair)를 선정하여 좌판과 등받이를 중심으로 탄성재로서의 디자인을 적용하였다. 결과적으로 파괴 직전까지의 반복적 실험으로 인해 탄성한계를 구체적으로 반영한 안정감 있는 최종 디자인에 이를 수 있었다. 본 연구를 실마리로 하여 목재의 다양한 활용 방안과 가능성이 재조명되기를 바라며 다른 소재 와의 혼용에 있어서도 주도적 역할을 할 수 있기를 기대한다.
