        A Study on the Feasibility of Installing Solar Auxiliary Power for Small Fishing Boats

        대한민국의 낚시산업은 레저활동을 즐기는 인구 증가로 인해 매년 급성장하고 있으며 이에따라 규모가 큰 9-10톤급 낚시어선의 수는 매년 늘어나고 있다. 현재 운항 중인 낚시어선은 낚시 활동 중 유류비 절감과 엔진 발생 소음 저감을 위해 엔진을 정지하고 배터리를 이용하여 선박의 필수장비를 운영하고 있다. 하지만 배터리의 방전으로 인한 엔진 시동불량 등으로 인해 해상에서 표류되는 사고가 매년 꾸준히 발생하고 있으며, 이는 대형 인명사고로 이어질 수 있다. 본 연구에서는 낚시어선의 안전확보를 위해 태양광 보조전원 설치를 제안하고, 9-10톤급 선박을 대상으로 선정하였다. 대상선박의 태양광 발전설비 공간 확보 가능성을 확인하였으며, 태양광 발전설비의 적용을 검증하기 위해 조업 중 필요한 필수 부하량을 계산하고 전력분석프로그램을 통해 태양광 발전시스템을 모델링하였다. 모델링 된 태양광 발전시스템에 우리나라의 월별 수평면 평균 일사량을 적용하여 낚시어선의 태양광 보조발전장치 적용에 관한 타당성을 입증하였다. The South Korean fishing industry is experiencing a rapid growth owing to an increase in its leisure-fishing population. Consequently, fishing boats weighing 9-10 [ton] have also been increasing. Current fishing boats operate their essential equipment by switching their engines with batteries to reduce the cost of gas and engine noise. However, stranding incidents have been increasingly recorded annually, in which boats fail to start owing to discharged batteries, and these incidents can lead to serious casualties. This study proposes the installation of a solar auxiliary power system to safeguard fishing boats, particularly those weighing between 9-10 [ton]. The feasibility of securing space for the solar auxiliary power of boats under consideration was verified. To examine the application of solar power, this study calculates the load necessary to operate it for fishing and models such a system using an electricity analysis program The modeled system, which applies the monthly horizontal solar insolation, validated the adoption of a solar auxiliary power in fishing boats.

        Study on verification of AFE rectifier control for electric propulsion ship

        Electric propulsion ships are frequently subject to fluctuations in the generator output voltage and current due to load vari-ations from unpredictable environmental changes, including those of the maritime environment. The variation in the generator output affects the detection of the phase angle of the supply voltage, which is a key factor in the control of the active front end (AFE) rectifier of an electric propulsion system. In this study, an improved supply voltage phase-angle controller was proposed and applied to accu-rately detect the supply voltage phase angle required for the control of the AFE rectifier. The controller can be applied even under fluctuations in the output voltages of the generator owing to various circumstances that may arise in the electric propulsion ship. To demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed improved supply voltage phase-angle controller, an irregular waveform with harmonics and zero-crossing in the output voltage of the generator was arbitrarily generated and inserted into the phase-angle detector. The pro-posed supply voltage phase-angle controller promoted a remarkable improvement in the phase-angle detection performance compared with that of the zero-crossing technique, a conventional method of phase-angle detection, even under irregular variations in the output voltage of the generator.

        Research on Basic Concept Design for Digital Twin Ship Platform

        The International Maritime Organization is establishing international agreements on maritime safety and security to prepare for the introduction of autonomous ships. In Korea, the industry is focusing on autonomous navigation system technology development, and to reduce accidents involving coastal ships, research on autonomous ship technology application plans for coastal ships is in progress. Interest in autonomously operated ships is increasing worldwide, and maritime demonstrations for verification of developed technologies are being pursued. In this study, a basic investigation was conducted on the design of a demonstration ship and an onshore platform (remote support center) using digital twin technology for application to coastal ships. To apply digital twin technology, an 8-m small battery-powered electric propulsion ship was selected as the target. The basic design of the twin-integrated platform was developed. The ship navigation and operation data were stored on a server system, and remote-control commands of the electric propulsion ship was achieved through communication between the ship and the onshore platform. Ship performance management, operation and operation optimization, and predictive control are possible using this digital twin technology. This safe and economical digital twin technology is applicable to ships responding to crisis scenarios.

        FMEA of Electric Power Management System for Digital Twin Technology Development of Electric Propulsion Vessels

        국제해사기구에서는 선박에서 배출되는 질소산화물 및 이산화탄소 등에 관한 환경규제를 꾸준하게 강화하고 있다. 이에 친환 경 요소를 바탕으로 하는 전기추진시스템의 수요가 증가하고 다양한 선박에 적용되며 연구개발이 꾸준하게 진행되고 있다. 전기추진시스 템은 신뢰성을 높이고 선내 배치를 용이하게 하기 위한 이중화 구성이 주로 채택되며 실제 장비나 공간을 가상 세계에 쌍둥이처럼 구현 하고 현실 세계의 정보와 데이터를 가상 세계와 통합하여 실제 환경에서 발생할 수 있는 상황을 컴퓨터로 시뮬레이션 함으로써 결과를 미리 예측할 수 있는 디지털트윈 기술의 접목을 통하여 전기추진시스템의 안전성 확보를 위한 연구 또한 매우 활발하게 진행되고 있다. 본 연구에서는 전기추진선박의 디지털트윈 기술개발을 위한 전력관리시스템 이중화에 대한 검증을 FMEA를 바탕으로 분석 후 선급에서 제시하는 이중화 FMEA 기준을 바탕으로 실제 선박 운항 조건에서 전력관리시스템의 단일 장비 고장의 일차 피해와 이차 피해 및 전체 시스템의 영향을 분석하여 추가 피해를 방지하기 위한 보상기능으로 전력관리시스템의 역할과 알고리즘을 제안하였으며 실제 테스트를 통해 추진력 보존이 개선되었음을 검증하였다. The International Maritime Organization has steadily strengthened environmental regulations on nitrogen oxides and carbon dioxide emitted from marine vessels. Consequently, the demand for electric propulsion vessels based on eco-friendly elements has increased. To this end, research and development has been steadily conducted for various vessels. In electric propulsion systems, a redundancy configuration is typically adopted to increase reliability and facilitate the onboard arrangement. Furthermore, studies have been actively conducted to ensure the safety of electric propulsion systems through the combination with digital twin technology. A digital twin can be used to predict outcomes in advance by implementing real-world equipment or space in a virtual world like twins, integrating real-world information and data with the virtual world, and performing computer simulations of situations that can occur in a real environment. In this study, we perform failure modes and effects analysis (FMEA) to validate the electric power management system (PMS) redundancy scheme for the digital twin technology development of electric propulsion vessels. Then, we propose the role and algorithm of PMS as a compensation function for preventing primary and secondary damages caused by a single equipment failure of the PMS and preventing additional damages by analyzing the impact on the entire system under real vessel operating conditions based on the redundancy FMEA suggested for the ship classification and certification. We verified the improvement in propulsion conservation through tests.

      • 선박용 엔진 모니터링을 위한 CSMA/CD 프로토콜

        This study is on the development of a monitoring system which can be applied for not only large vessels but also small vessels less than 20 gross tonnage. The Monitoring system consists of many LMU(Local Monitoring Unit)s that collect data from local machinery, a host computer that controls LMU and a stable communication system. In this paper, the industrial computer is used as host computer and that is compotable to IBM PC. GUI(Graphic User Interface) for main program is constructed by the use of HANGUL library and BOLAND C??, so this software package is easy to access to beginners. The LMU is made up from 80C196KC, which consists of CPU, interface, digital input/output, analog input/output and communication. Communication system between the host computer and LMUs is the multidrop configuration using RS-485 method. One master device of industrial computer has the role of host computer and LMUs acts as slave devices. And, more efficient communication system is practicable by the aid of polling method as well as carrier sense multiple access with collision detection(CSMA/CD) protocol.
