The purpose of this study is to assess the usefulness of digital infrared thermographic image(DITI) in patients with surgically treated lumbar disc disease. A series of 480 patients with lumbar herniated disc was studied. The mean age of the patients was 37 years, with a range of 18 to 64 years. Of which 126 cases of chemonucleolysis, 18 cases of percutaneous endoscopic laser discectomy, and 336 cases of laminectomy with discectomy were performed. Among these pateints, 336 cases of laminectomy were assessed by DITI preoperatively. The thermal differences(△ T) between the symptomatic and asymptomatic limbs were evaluated. We have categorized the types of herniations into 3 classes, 200 protruded 99 extruded, and 37 sequestered. The thermal differences were classified into 3 groups : 177 patients had △ T<0.5℃, 74 patients had 0.5℃≤△ T<0.8℃ and 85 patients had △ T≥0.8℃. Among the group of patients with the sequestered disc, 30(i.e. 80%) had △ T≥0.8℃. Among the surgically treated 336 patients, non-visualization of a part of the sciatic limb on preoperative DITI was the condition used to coin the term amputation sign by the authors In the sequestered group, the “amputation sign” was observed in 28 cases(75%). We conclude that DITI can predict a sequestered disc disease, and it allows more precise indication regarding open surgery.

A case of rare symptomatic cerebellopontine angle lipoma treated by surgical decompression is described In this 28-year-old male with intermittent facial pain for 17 years, a mass was noted in the right cerebellopontine angle on C-T and MRI. Partial removal of the mass was made for decompression of the lesion from the trigeminal nerve root entry zone. The surgical biopsy result was lipoma. This represents, to our knowledge, the first lipoma in the cerebellopontine angle reported in the Korean literature.
마이크로 로봇의 3차원 공간 구동을 위한 EMA 시스템

Various types of actuation methods for intravascular microrobot have been proposed. Among the actuation methods, electromagnetic based actuation (EMA) was considered as a promising mechanism. Especially, planar EMA systems for 2 dimensional locomotion of the microrobot were proposed and demonstrated. In this paper, we propose a new EMA system for the 3 dimensional locomotion of the microrobot. The proposed system consists of a coil system and a robotic actuation system. The coil system has a pair of Helmholtz coils and a pair of Maxwell coils, and the robotic actuation system has a serial robot structure with roll-pitch-roll rotational axes. Through various experiments, we can demonstrate 3 dimensional movement of the microrobot by using the proposed EMA system. The proposed EMA system can be utilized for the 3 dimensional actuation of the intravascular microrobot.

Barrack is building of temporary personality which user who change periodically use. Building user requires new space that there does not exist according to change of age, and uncertain national security surrounding requires move, dissolution, enlargement of a building. But, plan in the meantime put to solve urgent problem rather than consider this characteristic so could not reflect this characteristic properly. The military decide to apply "Modular construction method" in unit which transfer need is expected by national security environment change and can correspond in this characteristic. But this is leaning against in temporary building characteristic, enough discussion in user side is nothing. This study target "The barrack evolve with user". It grasp problem through analysis standard plan in the meantime. and grasp user characteristic by observation and method of question. Reflect this in plan, Include development of life room standard unit that is point equipment of barracks.

The authors reported a 35-year-old man who had never experienced a seizure but had psychotic disorder with symptoms such as persecutary delusion, hallucinatory behavior, aggressive act with excitement, mutism and loosening of association during postictal period following repetitive tonic-clonic seizures of first onset. The cause of seizure was not identified, but it might be due to a certain general medical condition such as metabolic disturbances. There are many hypotheses to explain the relationship between psychopathology and seizure, however it is not clear. Clinicians also must consider various aspects to evaluate, diagnose and treat the patient with comorbid seizure and psychotic condition. This case illustrates many clinical implications like these.
