      • 잎담배의 부스러짐 특성에 관한 연구

        The fragility, which express the fineness index, increased linearly with the moisture content for various tobacco shreds and showed a high correlation to the moisture content. Then, fineness index (FIs) at reference moisture content(l2.5%) was obtained by following equation. FIs=FIm+A(12.5-Mm) A" denote the gradient of simple linear regression equation between the fineness index and moisture content. FIm; the fineness index measured at the standard moisture content(12.5%). The characteristics of fragility concerning with some kinds of tobacco raw materials, stalk position, moisture content and storaged time were investigated. The following results were obtained. 1. The moisture content range of less fragile of tobacco raw material was from 16% to 20%. whereas the rolled process sheet tobacco was from 12% to 16%. 2. The Bright yellow and the paper process sheet tobacco were less fragile than that of the other tobacco raw materials. 3. The leaves were more distant from middle stalk position, and its become more fragile. 4. Physical properties of the storaged tobacco leaves were determined as a function of each storageunction of each storage time. The long-term storaged leaves(more than 3 years) were slightly lighter weight, more fragility and lower equilbrium moisture content than thos of the mid-term storaged leaves.(less than 3 years). 5. Contents of chemical component of the storaged leaves were determined every storage time. The long-term storaged leaves were slightly lower content of nicotine and chlorine than those of mid-term storaged leaves, but contents of crude fiber, total ash and calcium were increased significantly.

      • Freon Gas흡착 및 열처리에 의한 담배조직의 물리적, 역학적 특성변화연구

        In the tobacco industry, it is important to study the change of mechanical property occurring the expansion process. The purpose of this study is to attain basic data for development of a tobacco expansion method. 1 . Freon gas was adsorbed to tobacco under various conditions of temperature, relative humidity and pressure, and then the amount of freon gas adsorbed was analyzed by GC. Freon adsorption rate of Burley 21 was more than that of By104 at the same condition and about 17 $\pm$ 1% moisture content produced better adsorption rate. 2. Freon adsorbed sample were heated to about $150^{circ}C\;to\;230^{\circ}C$ in a drying oven and recycle duct form about 2 to 30 seconds, and then the change of mechanical property were measured. Heated leaf was damaged when the tissue was pressed by the force of above $0.5x10^8dyn/cm^2$. The optimum condition of no damage of the sample was below the temperature of 15$0^{\circ}C$ and heating time of 10 seconds. It was more economically advantages to treated sample in a recycle duct than to be in a drying oven. By this process, the specific volume of the heated sample was increased from 80 to 110 percent in comparison to that of untreated sample.

      • 담배 팽화공정에 사용된 Freon-11의 회수 (냉각 및 압축 system에 관해서)

        The purpose of this study is to improve the method and the apparatus for recovering freon-11 used in a process for increasing the filling capacity of tobacco. The first, the theoretical recovery rate of freon-11 was calculated from vapour pressure and thermodynamic properties of freon-11. The second, the usability of theoretical data was evaluated by the comparison between the theoretical data and the experimental data from the pilot plant. The result obtained under the present experiment condition was quite similar to the rate at 15kg/cm2 and 5$^{\circ}C$, but the theoretical data evaluated were 0.1 to 0.3% lower than the experimental data at 20 to 25kg/cm2 and 5$^{\circ}C$. The recovery rate of the cooling and the compression system was about 95% with freon-11 used in this system and that with freon-11 concentrate of waste gas was about 3 to 3.6% at 20 to 25kg/cm2 and 5$^{\circ}C$.

      • 마이크로파 처리에 의한 한국산 담배의 성분변화에 대한 연구 (Ⅰ)

        The characteristics, such as taste, chemical and physical properties, of Korean tobacco leaves have been investigated. Typical sample of the leaves have been chosen to study change of qualities and pyrolytic properties by means of microwave treatment. The results could be summerized as following; 1. Among Flue-cured leaves, BY-4, NC-2326 and Hicks have the most desirable aroma and especially pleasing taste. And, BY-X and 7205-14 could be recommended as a milder for a blend. 2. By microwave treatment on the Flue-cured leaves, the contents of general constituents, especially nicotine in the leaves as well as smoke have been reduced noticeble and also combustibility and filling power are improved. 3. Microwave treated and untreated TGA data of Flue-cured leaves shows that peak height at 190℃ which is expected to be due to evaporation of lower boiling point aromatic compounds decreases, while peak height at 290℃ which is caused by evaporation of higher boling point compounds and decomposition of cellulose and lignin increases for the case of microwave treatment. On the other hand, it is found that the peak height at 290℃ for the Burley leaves decreases by the microwave treatment.

      • 황색종담배의 엽수조절이 생육형질 및 화학성분에 미치는 효과

        The study was carried out to investigate the effect of control leaf number on growth and chemical characteristics, and on yield and quality In (rue-cured tobacco The rest upper leaves of 14, 16, and 18 leaves per plant were removed at button stage, and the plants were harvested :0, 12, and 16 leaves with discard 4 leaves of the bottom, respectively. 1. There were showed a tendency to increase in length (LL), width (LW), area (LA), fresh (LFW) and dry weight (LDW) per leaf as leaf numbers were decreased, while those per plant and the ratios of increase of those per plant were decreased. 2. In compensation effect (CE), there were increase in LL, LFW, LDW, LL/LW and LDW/LFW with each decreased in leaf numbers while LW was decreased, LA unchanged. 3. There were significant Increases in LL, LW, and LA at 5th~8th stalk positions form bottom (SP), while those .at 13th~16th SF were decreased. Also, LDW at 5th~l0th, and LDW/LFW and weight Per unit leaf area at 11th 16th were Increased as leaf numbers decreased. 4. Mean per plant and CE of nicotine were increased, but those of sugar were decreased with each decrease In leaf numbers. In addition, nicotine contents at 5th~14th SP except for 9th~10th were increased, otherwise sugar contents at 7th~14th were decreased. 5. There were showed a tendency to increase in grade per Plant and in tirade at 5th~8th SP, but decrease in CE of grade as leaf numbers were decreased. There wee significant decrease in grade at 11th~14th SP. Also, ratio of 5 grade was decreased, while ratios of 3 and 4 grades were increased. 6. When the 2 leaves at 3rd~4th SP were harvested, price was decrease 2.6% and yield was increased 5.8 %. 7. When the 6 leaves from convention were removed at but ton stage, effects of apparent, compensational, and net per leaf on yield were -3.9%, +2.6%, and -6.5%, respectively, and those on price were +1.1%, -1.6% and +2.7%, respectively.

      • 담배연기의 평가를 위한 새로운 계수

        For evaluating the cigarette smoke quality of nonblended and commercial cigarettes, four modified smoke quality indexes were deduced from considering the reactivity of the thiol group in cystine (SH value) with the cigarette smoke constituents, and from the maximum limited contents of tar. nicotine, and carbon monoxide for the less harmful cigarettes. These results were discussed with respect to correlation coefficients between the indexes and tar/nicotine ratio which had been known reliable for smoke quality evaluation. Among the three indexes, the SH/[(N/O.6) +($\frac{C+T}{8}$)] index was found to be the most reliable and applicable.

      • 잎담배의 흡습 및 탈습에 관한 연구

        The moisture sorption and desorption isotherms of various tobaccos were obtained over a relative humidity range from 0 to 90% at $20^{\circ}C$ and $30^{\circ}C$. The hysteresis effect, constant and rate of moisture sorption and desorption, monomolecular-layer moisture content, and specific surface area were analyzed from the obtained data. The moisture sorption and desorption isotherms showed a different characteristics for different tobacco varieties. At a lower humidity range below 50% RH, Burley tobacco had higher moisture sorption and desorption figures than Hicks and Basma, while, at a higher humidity range above 50% RH, Hicks had higher values than the others. The hysteresis effect of tobacco were greater in an intermediate humidity range (40-70% RN), and Basma showed a greater effect than the others. The sorption and desorption constant (K) increased with temperature, but decreased with RH, and Burley tobacco had larger K values, while Hicks had smaller K values than others. The sorption and desorption rate of Burley tobacco were greater than the other tobaccos. The monomolecular-layer moisture was 27.8 and 51.4mg/g, and the specific surface was 101 and $186m^2/g$, for Basma and Burley, respectively.

      • 담배줄기를 이용한 판상엽 제조

        The chemical components of tobacco stalk, stems of tobacco caltivations, were analyzed and reconstituted tobacco sheet were made from the stalk and tobacco hyproducts by rolled and paper reconstitute tobacco sheet making process. The results were summarized as follow 1. In the viewpoint of chemical components, nicotine, total nitrogen and ash content of stalk were lower than those of stems, but crude fiber was two times higher than stems. 2. Reconstituted tobacco sheet of tobacco stalk blended were improved fragility and specific gravity than those of control. 3. Smoke components delivery of cigarette made from reconstituted tobacco sheet of tobacco stalk blended were similar to control cigarette. 4. According to the result of ranking preference test for control and sample cigarette, were not recognized significant at 5 percent level. 5. According to the result of areas test for control and sample cigarette, were not recognized significant at 5 percent level. 6. Optimum stalk blend ratio of reconstituted tobacco sheet manufacturing was from about 20 to 40% to the rolled sheet, and was from about 5 to 10% to the paper making process tobacco sheet.
