        한국어 학습자의 파생어 교육을 위한 접사 목록 선정 연구

        An emphasis on vocabulary instruction for Korean langauage learners is needed because a large vocabulary is a prerequisite for learners to become advanced learners. The rule of word formation method is the most popular and wide used way to improve vocabulary size in vocabulary instruction. Therefore, a selection of derivational affixes is needed to support this form of language education. This research seeks to choose derivational affixes for the Korean learners using a list of 50,000 vocabulary words. About 418 affixes, including 149 prefixes and 269 suffixes, were selected in the process of counting derivational powers. Since 5,000 of the 50,000 words are derivatives, the most prominent affixes will be selected based on the numbers of derivatives with the same affixes. About 100 suffixes are very prominent in Korean words and an additional 40 prefixes need to be taught for an effective means of studying Korean words.

        한국어 능력 평가와 문법의 역할

        This study aims to examine the status of grammar in the current Korean proficiency test while examining how the status of grammar has changed in language proficiency assessment. In order to grasp the status of grammar in Korean proficiency test, this paper attempted to examine the status of grammar as a construct through the concept of language ability covered in language assessment. To this end, the role of grammar was examined through the evaluation elements of language assessment and the description of grammar shown in the evaluation goal. Through this analysis, it was confirmed that the proportion of language knowledge among the constructs of communication competence was a high proportion as assessment factors. Language assessment has been generally based on grammar competence, and the current proficiency test conducted under the concept of communication competence is also measured language knowledge as an important role. Even if we look at the grammar in a narrow sense within language knowledge, it can be seen that it is one of the important measurement factors especially in the newly developed Korean proficiency test. The role of grammar in measuring the accuracy of language use has not decreased.

        중국어권 학습자 대상의 한국어교육 연구의 동향과 전망

        This study analyzed recent trends in Korean language education research for Chinese learners of Korean. The rapid increase of academic Chinese learners has resulted in quantitative expansion in the study of Korean language education. Since the 2000s, more than 1,400 master’s and doctorate papers have been published for Chinese learners. The major trends of these studies can be divided into two: one kind of research is a study that contrasts Korean with Chinese, and the others is an applied academic paper for Korean education without contrast. They were also classified into grammar studies, vocabulary studies, phonology studies, discourse studies, and other studies according to the characteristics of the subjects. There have been hundreds of studies of vocabulary and grammar, but not many studies of discourse or language skills education. The study of Chinese learners has accumulated a large number of studies over a short period of time, and I believe that it is time to consider the reliability of the results. The results of the research trends analyzed in this study will give implications to researchers who is planning to write papers in this field.

        한국어 학습자의 어휘 학습 전략에 관한 연구

        This study reiterates the importance of vocabulary learning strategies because of a strong desire expressed by Korean language learners to improve their vocabulary. The interview and survey are conducted to investigate the KLL’s self-evaluation of their vocabulary and learning strategies. The results show that KLL’s are not satisfied with their vocabulary competency and not concerned about using vocabulary strategies. Language learning strategies are closely related to successful language acquisition. Therefore, the current study explores the vocabulary learning strategies suggested by previous research to provide an implication for teaching and learning vocabulary in Korean. Vocabulary learning strategies related to successful language acquisition are divided into cognitive and meta-cognitive strategies. Cognitive strategies involve guessing, dictionary use, note taking, and memory strategies. To promote the self awareness of vocabulary strategies for KLL’s, Korean classrooms need to concern the various vocabulary instruction.

        한국어 학습자 사전의 용례 기술 방법에 대한 연구

        In a learner's dictionary, the function of examples can be classified into various functional categories. This study focuses on three categories such as (1) semantic, (2) grammatical(morpho-syntactic) and (3) pragmatic functions by a major fuctional category in a Korean learner's dictionary. Compared to other dictionaries for native speakers of Korean, editorial examples are the appropriate types of examples in terms of productive use of a dictionary for learning Korean. For considering a semantic function, examples clarify the meaning and definition and gives a sense of differentiation as well. For a grammatical function, examples specify construction of words and collocations with various types of inflection. The pragmatic aspect of functions involves several statuses of the words used in the formal and informal, the degree of politeness, and written and oral forms of language. The Korean learner's dictionary should contain three types of examples in order to serve these functions by presenting phrasal, sentence and dialogue examples to effectively assist Korean learners.

        재미 동포의 언어 정체성과 한국어 능력에 대한 세대별 비교 분석 연구

        The purpose of this study is to investigate and analyze the language use patterns of Korean-Americans by comparing the characteristics of 1st, 1,5th and 2nd generation in the USA. The data revealed that there is significant difference between the perception on the necessity of the language proficiency and the perception on the language identity. Korean Americans perceive the necessity of English proficiency is slightly stronger than the necessity of Koreanproficiency. This result reflects that Korean Americans generally put more importance on the language of their residential country and it is not different from the previous research results on Korean residents in China and the CIS. However, the percentage of Koreans who perceive Korean language as their mother tongue is higher in the US, comparing to China and the CIS. Therefore, Korean Americans show more positive perception on Korean language and culture than English and American culture. Based on the analysis by the immigrant generation variable, the first-generation immigrants show high proficiency in Korean language in all areas, whereas the second-generation immigrants show the opposite results. For the 1.5th generation immigrants, there was no significant difference between their Korean and English language proficiency. The variable of the immigrant generation was the most significant variable to the language use of Korean Americans due to the uniqueness of Korean American society where different generations are still residing closely and where there is still active inflow of first-generation immigrants from Korea to the US. This phenomenon is unlike other Korean residents in China and the CIS and will be a positive evidence of maintaining Korean in the USA. (Yonsei University)

        한국어 학습자의 쓰기에 나타난 어휘 풍요도 연구-숙달도 측정 도구로써 어휘 풍요도 측정 가능성을 중심으로-

        본 연구는 중급, 고급 중국인 한국어 학습자들의 어휘 풍요도를 분석하여 이를 통해 학습자의 어휘 능력 발달을 측정할 수 있는 도구로써 쓰기 능력을 측정하는 지표로 사용할 수 있는가를 모색해 보고자 하였다. 이를 위해 본 연구에서 중국어권 중급, 고급 한국어 학습자들의 쓰기 평가 자료를 연구 대상으로 삼아서 학습자 작문 총 40편을 수집하여 어휘 풍요도를 분석하였다. 어휘 풍요도를 분석하기 위해 어휘 다양도, 어휘 밀도, 어휘 세련도를 측정하였다. 분석 결과, 중국인 학습자들의 글에 나타난 어휘 풍요도는 등급이 올라가도 다양도는 크게 달라지지 않는다는 것을 확인하였고, 밀도와 세련도에 있어서의 차이는 6급 정도의 고급 학습자가 되었을 때는 3,4 급의 중급 학습자와 어휘 사용에 있어 차이가 있다는 것을 확인하였다. 또한, 쓰기 점수에 영향을 미치는 어휘 풍요도 변수의 영향을 분석한 결과 어휘 밀도는 쓰기 점수를 30%이상 설명할 수 있는 변수이지만 어휘 다양도와 세련도는 쓰기 점수에 긍정적인 영향을 주는 변수가 아닌 것으로 드러났다. The purpose of this study is to prove whether the lexical richness of Korean learners` writing has correlation with their language development and to observe whether it can be used to measure their language proficiency. To find our the possibility of using the lexical richness score as a reliable measurement and standard of Korean learners` language proficiency, we collected 40 pieces of Chinese Korean learners` writing works from level 3 to level 6. We analyzed the lexical richness by lexical density, lexical diversity, and lexical sophistication, and discovered that level 6 learners` lexical density and lexical sophistication score were better than level 3 and level 4 learners` scores. Also, the hierarchical regression analysis was conducted to examine the relative influence of the 3 vocabulary measurements. Therefore, the results revealed that their lexical density has 30 % account with their writing scores while lexical diversity and lexical sophistication were found that no influence with writing scores. The implication of this study is to explore the possibility of measuring vocabulary richness as a measurement tool of writing scores for Korean language learners.
