In this study, the vertical distribution of giant jellyfish analyzed echo counting method and such survey methods as sighting and trawl were used to compare its density estimates. In May and July 2021, surveys were conducted in the East China Sea and the coastal waters of Korea. As a result, Nemopilema nomurai were evenly distributed in all water layers in East China Sea in May and July. When considered the correlation by each survey methods, it is possible to identify jellyfish in the surface area by sighting method and using sampling net; however, it has a low correlation with acoustic estimates due to marine environmental factor such as weather condition, wind and atmospheric pressure. Therefore, the result can be utilized by basic data when estimating jellyfish’s distribution patterns and density estimates from each survey methods hereafter.

This study used hydroacoustic method to identify the vertical and horizontal distribution of Antarctic silverfish in the Ross Sea, Antarctica. In February and December 2018, Antarctic silverfish was detected up to 250 meters, and was mainly distributed in water depths of 20 to 30 meters. The horizontal distribution of Antarctic silverfish was mostly undetected in February, and December showed a relatively stronger distribution than that of February. Antarctic silverfish is characterized by their distribution near sea ice.

This paper presents a mass estimation system for payload in wheel loader bucket. The estimation system does not use load cell but angle sensor, pressure sensor, and dynamic model. An angle sensor is attached on arm, and two pressure sensors are attached on head and rod of hydraulic cylinder. Using the dynamic model of wheel loader, measured value of arm angle, and cylinder pressures, and estimation of velocity, and acceleration, this system can accurately calculate the mass loaded in wheel loader bucket.
하계 광양만 주변 해역의 새우조망 어획조사 및 수산자원 음향조사

This study conducted a survey using a sampling inspection method and acoustic technique for continuous monitoring of useful organisms and non-commercial fish species distributed in the water of Gwangyang Bay, and evaluated the marine resources. In June, 2018, 38 species were caught in the shrimp beam trawl, comprising 3,594 marine organisms with a total weight was 65,415.3g. The acoustic survey showed that the nautical area scattering coefficient (NASC; ㎡/n.mile<sup>2</sup>) for the waters of Gwangyang Bay was highest in Transect 15 (1,655.5 ㎡/n.mile<sup>2</sup>) and lowest in Transect 1 (1.3 ㎡/n.mile<sup>2</sup>). The biomass was estimated to be 2,634.9 tons in the acoustic survey. This indicates that the acoustic survey method detected more fish shoals than the sampling inspection method.

This study was aimed at measuring the acoustic impedance of Japanese black porgy to estimate its sustainable production and resources. The acoustic impedance need to know density contrast and sound speed contrast of target fish. The density contrast is obtained by the Pipette method and sound speed contrast is obtained by the Time-of-flight method. To get basic information on the Japanese black porgy in the experiment, 10 different sizes used. As a result, the body length increases as the weight of the Japanese black porgy was increased. The correlation between the body length and density contrast of the Japanese black porgy was very low. Also, the acoustic speed contrast was shown at very low correlation. However, due to lack of 20~25cm of Japanese black porgy, the standard deviation value is not constant. The impedance results of Japanese black porgy will should be used as basic date of acoustic scattering characteristic and identification of fish.

Encircling gill net fishery is a kind of gill net which is generally used in shallow coastal waters. After the fish have been encircled by the gill net, noise stimulus such as a stone or sound is used to force them to gill or entangle themselves in the netting surrounding them. Although the fishing by a stone is a traditional fishing method, it is considered as an illegal fishing method by physical stimulus such as explosives and mechanical vibrator. However, this illegal fishing method has raised some problems to the fishing boat of other fisheries or many anglers due to disturb aggregating fish schools. This study is aimed to provide scientific base data to verify whether to impact the ecosystem caused by this encircling gill net. This study exhibited that the impulse noise by concrete sphere in the encircling gill net was 159 dB/μPa, the ambient noise from ship engine was 160 dB/μPa, and the maximum noise from continuous artificial vibrator was 175 dB/μPa. These may be stimulus to the escape of fish distributed in a wide area in its natural state; it is not likely the cause of death due to catastrophic stress. Therefore, it needs to prepare the consideration of standard limit on fishing stimulus in fishing methods of the fishery laws and regulations, prevent fishermen form using illegal fishing gear (i.e. explosive sound standards: 200~220 dB/μPa) and provide them with countermeasures.

Based on underwater acoustics, this study examined the Relationship between fish and zooplankton in the west-south seas. The acoustic data collected by echo sounder (Simrad EK60 and EK80) aboard the NIFS research vessel were analyzed using Echoview version 8.0. This study was carried out in the west-south seas where acoustic data was collected four times in August and September 2019 and February and May 2020. The results showed that the average nautical area scattering coefficient (NASC) of fish was the highest in May 2020 at 110.94 ㎡/nmi² and the lowest in September 2020 at 55.31 ㎡/nmi². The average NASC value of zooplankton was highest in May 2020 and lowest in September 2020 at 8.78 ㎡/nmi². There was a significant Relationship between fish and zooplankton (R²) with R²=0.696 in May 2020 and lowest Relationship with R²=0.039 in August 2019. During the day time, the Relationship between fish and zooplankton(R²) was highest in May 2020, with R²=0.668, and lowest in February 2020, with R²=0.001. During the night time, the Relationship between fish and zooplankton(R²) was highest in May 2020 with R²=0.245 and lowest in February 2020 with R²=0.009.
