        • 3P-669 : Technology to Reduce Environmental Effects of Perfluorinated Compounds (PFCs)

          반도체 공정의 식각, 증착 공정에서 배출되는 과불화화합물은 지구온난화 지수가 높은 난분해성 물질로 대기뿐만 아니라 수질환경에도 영향을 끼치는 생태계 독성 물질이다. 본 연구는 1947년부터 출원된 과불화화합물 관련 특허기술 정보를 기반으로 과불화화합물의 환경영향 저감 기술 동향을 분석하였다. 특허정보 검색은 특허청에서 제공하는 DB를 활용하였으며, 미국, 일본, 중국, 유럽, 한국 5개국에서 출원된 과불화화합물 관련 특허 기술을 조사하였다. 과불화화합물 관련 특허 기술은 총 372건이며, 그 중 74건(19.9%)이 환경영향 저감 기술로 개발되었다. 환경영향 저감 기술 특허 출원수는 한국 40건(54%), 일본 17건(23%), 중국 10건(14%), 미국 4건(5%), 유럽 3건(4%)으로 파악되었다. 이들 기술은 고온 분해, 막분리, 분리 회수, 수처리, 액체금속, 전기응집, 전자빔, 촉매분해, 플라즈마 분해, 흡착 제거 등 10개 분야로 세분화되며, 이 가운데 촉매 분해 기술이 26건으로 가장 많았다. 과불화화합물 환경영향 저감 기술은 대부분 촉매, 여과막, 플라즈마 등을 활용한 제거 기술로 구성되어 있으며, 오염 분석 및 모니터링 기술의 특허 출원은 전무하였다.

          ‘出宮門路'를 통해 본 고종의 景福宮 운영

          Management of Gyeongbokgung Palace by King Gojong : focused on Chulgung-munro (the Exit gate path) Ahn, Hee-gyeong When King Gojong would visit Jongmyo Shrine or Sajik to pay his respects at Gyeongmogung or Yuksanggung, Chulgung-munro(出宮門路, the Exit gate path) would be notified a day in advance. King Gojong would use the gate which was notified, except in cases where bad weather prevailed. The exit gate notified by King Gojong indicates the specific gate within Gyeongbokgung Palace and sometimes of the name of the path including the gate. King Gojong would prepare for his appearance behind the gate and would appear on a palanquin after the Tongrae announced the King's presence. Depending on the occasion, Hwangung-munro(還宮門路, the Return gate path) would be notified and would usually be the one from which was exited. After the notification on the gate to return & exit was made for an appearance within the palace, it was indicated that a place was necessary in the palace for an exit ritual. As the name of these paths implies, the exit gate path and the return gate path were the boundaries of Gyeongbokgung Palace for King Gojong. In this paper, I have focused on the exit gate path within the palace designated by King Jeong-jo, and King Gojong's awareness of space in Gyeongbokgung Palace, which was realized in the 『Bukguol figure』. During the research process to find the exit gate path, it came to my knowledge that the exit gate path was changed according to the movement of Pyunjeon(便殿, the King's council hall). At first, King Gojong had thought of the space among Geunjeongjeon(勤政殿, the Main hall of Gyeongbokgung Palace), Sajeongjeon and Sujeongjeon(思政殿·修政殿, the King's council hall) as a boundary of space division, but as Pyunjeon moves as well as the exit gate path, King Gojong's awareness of space changed. Pyunjeon of King Gojong was diversified due to the relationship with Empress Shinjeong, two fires, and the state affaires of King Gojong. The number of exit gate paths increased accordingly, which resulted in the realization of King Gojong's spacial awareness. In particular, when the available areas within the palace were limited by the fire and the northern part of Gyeongbokgung Palace which did not suffer from the fire had become Pyunjeon, the spatial awareness of King Gojong changed. According to the diversification of Pyunjeon, Sajeongjeon & Sujeongjeon which were built for Pyunjeon's purposes, had lost its designated function, and the establishment of Uijeongbu at Sujeongjeon during the Gabo Reform of 1894 created the situation far from conducive to the restoration of a King's power, as King Gojong had desired. Nevertheless, despite the lost function as Pyunjeon, Sajeong gate(思政門), placed in front of Sajeongjeon, was continuously used as an exit gate path, suggesting that King Gojong's awareness of space for the spacial division in the southern part of Gyeongbokgung Palace did not change. Because of Geunjeongjeon in front of Sajeongjeon, King Gojong could have utilized & changed the purpose of other buildings, except Geunjeongjeon which was a national symbolic icon to be reached after the ritual of exit. The space of Gyeongbokgung Palace recognized by King Gojong prior to the escape to the Russian legation through the exit gate path, are divided in boundaries, as Gunsunmun for the north, Mansimun-Suinmun-Onghwamun(萬始門-壽仁門-雍化門) for the west, Sungyangmun-Sajeongmun-Sungdukmun-Kyeinmun(崇陽門-思政門-崇德門-啓仁門)for the south, and Hyangoukmun-yeekukmun(嚮旭門-貳極門) for the east. 고종은 종묘나 사직에 나아가거나 경모궁·육상궁 등에 전알하러 나아갈 때 행차 하루 전 出宮할 門路를 밝혔고, 다음날 비가 오거나 날씨가 추워 행차 자체가 불가능한 날을 제외하고는 傳敎한 門을 통해 거의 행차하였다. 고종이 전교한 출궁문로는 대개 경복궁 내에 있는 구체적인 門을 가리켰는데, 때에 따라서는 전교된 문이 포함된 路를 가리키기도 하였다. 고종은 이 門 안쪽에서 출궁의 준비를 모두 마치고 대기하였다가 通禮가 행차 준비가 다 되었음을 아뢰면 비로소 輿를 타고 행차하였다. 출궁문로에 관한 전교는 궁궐 밖의 행차만이 아니라 궁궐 안의 행차에도 전교되었기 때문에 같은 궁궐 안에서도 출궁의 의식을 치르고 나아가야 하는 장소가 따로 존재했음을 보여준다. 출궁문로는 ‘출궁'이라는 용어에서도 엿볼 수 있듯이 고종의 인식 속에서 경복궁의 공간을 구분 짓는 경계점이었다고 볼 수 있다. 이에 본 논문에서는 궁궐 내의 出宮門路에 주목하여 고종연간 경복궁에서 고종이 인식하고 있었던 공간 구분을 『북궐도형』에 구현해 보았다. 그리고 출궁문로를 찾아나가는 과정에서 便殿의 이동에 따라 출궁문로가 변화하고 있음을 알게 되었다. 처음 고종은 正殿인 勤政殿과 便殿인 思政殿 및 修政殿 사이를 공간 구분의 경계로 생각하고 있었으나, 편전이 이동함에 따라 출궁문로가 이동하면서 고종의 공간 인식에 변화를 가져왔다. 고종의 便殿은 神貞王后와의 관계와 두 번의 화재, 그리고 국정운영 등에 따라 이동하였고, 이에 따라 출궁문로의 수도 늘어났다. 특히 화재 때문에 사용할 수 있는 전각이 제한되자, 화재 피해가 없었던 경복궁의 북쪽 공간이 고종의 便殿으로 적극 활용되었다. 편전의 이동으로 본래 편전으로 지어졌던 사정전과 수정전은 그 기능이 쇠퇴하였고, 갑오개혁 당시에는 수정전에 의정부가 설치되면서 고종이 원하던 국왕권 회복과는 거리가 먼 상황을 만들어냈다. 출궁문로를 통해 고종이 러시아 공사관으로 이동하기 전까지 인식하고 있었던 경복궁은 북쪽으로는 건선문, 서쪽으로는 만시문-수인문-옹화문, 남쪽으로는 숭양문-사정문-숭덕문-계인문, 동쪽으로는 향욱문-이극문을 경계로 구분지어 있었다.

          The Effects of Hot Temperature on Impulsive Behaviors: The Role of Product Types as a Moderator

          Temperature and weather are all around us, quite literally. Furthermore, temperature and weather not only permeate our atmosphere, constantly affecting our visceral states of warmth and coldness, but they metaphorically permeate our language. People, products, and ideas can all be “hot” or “cold.” Given this ubiquity, it is perhaps surprising that relatively little research has systematically examined the influence of temperature on choice and judgment. Temperature-related words such as “hot” and “cold” are often used to describe impulsive and calculated behaviors, respectively. These metaphoric connotations of thermal concepts raise the question as to whether temperature, psychological states and decision making are related to each other, and if so, how. The current research examines these questions and finds support for a relationship. Across one field study and one laboratory experiment, I demonstrate that both hot ambient room temperature (Spa) and hot temperature primes (words) trigger decision outcomes in line with the metaphoric association between hot temperature and impulsivity. In the field study, participants were recruited in hot (40-50 degrees Celsius) and cold (10 degrees Celsius) rooms at a spa. Participants were simply asked to indicate their willingness-to-pay (WTP) for three product categories (travel package, birthday dinner, and cell phone). The results showed that participants in the hot room in comparison to those in the cold room were willing to pay more for the same products. Next, I tested if our results would go beyond ambient temperature and would hold if I were to prime temperature concepts by using a different priming method (i.e., subliminal vs. supraliminal). In line with the previous findings in the spa, participants in the hot priming condition were more likely to choose the wrong answer for the bat and baseball question than those in the cold priming condition. In addition, product type (e.g., pleasure vs. necessity) can moderate the effect of hot temperature on impulsivity. Mood and arousal did not mediate participants' responses. My findings seem to suggest that the effects of temperature on decision outcomes can be attributed to metaphoric associations rather than incidental mood or arousal. The current research applies a novel perspective in understanding the relationship between temperature and judgment and decision making. Also, the results have practical implications for packaging, advertising, merchandising, and pricing of goods and services, as well as for public policy and awareness. One of the most natural implications of my findings would be that retailers would be better off carrying more impulse purchase items on hot days. Furthermore, point-of-purchase promotions encouraging impulse purchase is more likely to be effective in retail environments with higher temperature than with lower temperature. In addition, advertisements and product packages evoking hot temperature associations (e.g., beach, sunshine, summer) might lead consumers to pay higher price for the advertised product than those with cold temperature associations.

          Counting Up while Doing Tasks Makes You Feel More Difficult than Counting Down

          In this research, we explore whether mere exposure to external cues with vertical progress (e.g., moving upward or moving downward) can influence individuals' persistence to complete focal tasks. Drawing on the theory of embodied cognition, we propose that, a moving-upward (vs. downward) cue activates the abstract concept of difficulty, which is associated with the physical experience of climbing uphill (vs. downhill). Due to this association between moving uphill and difficulty, merely exposing individuals to the moving-upward cue can induce greater feeling of difficulty and this greater difficulty, in turn, reduce individuals' persistence, compared to exposing individuals to the moving-downward cue. Across three studies, we find supporting evidence for the effect of the external cues with vertical progress on individuals' performance both in physical tasks and in a cognitive task.

          Reflective Fourier Ptychographic Microscopy Using Segmented Mirrors and a Mask

          In this paper, LED arrays with segmented mirrors and a mask are presented as a new dark-field illuminator for reflective Fourier ptychographic microscopy (FPM). The illuminator can overcome the limitations of the size and the position of samples that the dark-field illuminator using a parabolic mirror has had. The new concept was demonstrated by measuring a USAF 1951 target, and it resolved a pattern in group 10 element 6 (274 nm) in the USAF target. The new design of the dark-field illuminator can enhance competitiveness of the reflective FPM as a versatile measurement method in industry.

          새벽 4시. 절로 눈이 떠진다. 아직 추운 바깥 날씨지만 기다리고 있는 소를 생각하며 주섬주섬 옷을 입었다. 신발을 신고 마당을 지나 갈 때까지도 미처 몰랐다. 텅빈 우사를 보고서야 정신이 든다. 축사 앞에 자리한 매몰지를 보고야 모든 젖소들이 살처분 당했다는 아픈 현실이 다가온다. 황망한 마음에 주저 앉아 새벽동이 틀 때까지 멍하니 앉아있다. 오늘은 어디라도 가서 입식할 젖소들을 알아봐야겠다. 살아있어도 사는게 아닌, 하루하루가 가고 있다. 구제역으로 살처분을 당한 낙농가들이 전체 낙농가의 10%에 육박하고 있다. 3만7000마리 이상의 젖소들이 농가들의 앞마당에 묻혔고 착유소도 2만마리 이상이 살처분을 당했다. 청춘을 바쳐 일궈온 목장들이 한 순간에 날아갔다. 상중에도 상복을 벗고 착유를 해야 했던 그들의 낙농인생, 구제역으로 모든 것을 잃고 뼈를 저미는 고통 속에 보내고 있는 하루하루. 그들의 하루를 밀착 취재했다.
