        개 제왕절개 수술이 혈액응고계에 미치는 영향

        Patients often present with spontaneous bleeding, or a bleeding disorder may be discovered when anotherwise healthy dog develops marked bleeding during or after surgery. In this study, we were aimed to elucidatewhether the cesarean section in dogs has influence on the coagulation profiles. And we gained the normal data on apanel of screening laboratory tests which allow accurate characterization of a hemostatic defects in dogs. Of the 20± 10.5 seconds, platelet count was 24.0 3.5× 104/l,activated partial thromboplastin time (APTT) was 8.8 2.0 seconds, the concentration of fibrinogen was288.5 7.9 mg/dl, and the concentration of fibrin degradation products (D-dimer) was < 250.0 ng/ml. Coagulationprofiles before and after cesarean section of 13 cesarean sectioned dogs were in the normal range and there wereno statistical diferences in coagulation profiles between normal dogs and cesarean sectioned dogs (p > 0.05). The resultssuggested that labor and cesarean section in healthy dogs did not alter coagulation profiles.

        Development of Rapid Detection Technique for Canine Distemper Virus

        Recently cases of canine distemper have occurred in Korea despite vaccination was carried out nationwidely. This study was performed to establish rapid diagnosis of canine distemper by RT-PCR, nested PCR, and serological test. A total of 30 dogs, which were suspected canine distemper clinically, was examined. RT-PCR and nested PCR were specific for the amplification of CDV H gene and sensitive to detect 7 TCID50 of Onderstepoort strain. By RT-PCR, H gene was detected in 6(20%) of 30 peripheral bloods from dogs. And H gene was detected in 10(33.3%) of 30 samples by nested PCR. H gene was detected from 1 brain of 6 years-old Beagle dog and 1 lung of 2 months-old Shihtzu dog, in which peripheral blood H gene was not detected. Serum neutralizing antibody titer against Onderstepoort strain ranged from 4 to 1,024 in 30 patients. No correlation was observed between the results of nested PCR and titiers of neutralizing antibody.

        국내 성견의 개 디스템퍼 바이러스에 대한 중화항체가 조사

        There were outbreaks of canine distemper in Korea from the late 1990's to the early 2000's even though modified live CDV vaccines had been used as the same way as before. The present study was undertaken to investigate the levels of neutralizing antibodies in the Korean dog population, and the factors associated with the levels, with special reference to the vaccination history of the dogs. A total of 772 serum samples were from clinically healthy dogs with over one year old throughout the Korea from January 2003 to April 2004. Details on the sex, breed, age, vaccination status and disease histories were recorded. The level of neutralizing antibodies titer was determined with a modified version of the microneutralization test. Titers over 16 were classified as protective CDV antibody titers. The overall rate of adult dogs with protective antibody titers was 96.0%. The dogs with protective antibody titers varied depending on age, sex, rearing environment and vaccination status. Because the majority of healthy adult dogs in Korea had adequate serum antibody titers against CDV and the immunity provided by the vaccinations is claimed to last for several years, annual revaccination protocol for CDV in adult dogs should be reconsidered.

        Prevalence of Canine Coronaviral Enteritis in Korea

        Canine coronavirus (CCV) is a cause of sporadic outbreaks of enteritis in dogs. This study was performed to carry out epidemiological investigation on the recent outbreaks of CCV enteritis of dogs and determined the potential prognostic factors affecting the survival of dogs. The 131 (34.4%) out of 381 fecal samples collected from dogs with enteritis were positive for CCV by RT-PCR. The fecal samples contained genotype I (30.5%), genotype II (29.0%),and both genotypes (40.5%) of CCV. The majority of dogs with CCV infection ranged 6-18 weeks of age. Age over 18 weeks was significantly associated with higher survival rate (P < 0.05). Of the clinical signs examined, dogs without anorexia were significantly higher survival rate (P < 0.01). The 90.1% of dogs with CCV infection were co-infected by CCV and CPV-2. From the results of this study, it can be concluded that CCV infection is widespread in the Korean dog population and CCV may be attributed to be one of the important agents causing enteritis in pups.

        Detection of woden foreign body represents a clinical challenge. Wood is typically radiolucent, so wodenforeign bodies are generally cannot be seen on survey radiography. Failure to locate and remove foreign bodies canlead the patient to the long-term secondary inflammatory reactions or infections. The dog described in the presenta year ago. The foreign body remained in the intestinaltracts which were attached to each other due to the prior abdominal operation. The wooden piece in the intestinefunctioned as a nidus and inorganic matters were gathered forming calculus on the outer layer of foreign body. Inthe radiograph, the foreign body appeared to be a chicken bone which of it's inner area was more radiolucent thanthe outer layer. Because the wooden foreign bodies that have remained for long time in the intestinal tract can beseen like a bone by mineralization, the diagnosis of the woden foreign bodies should be done prudently.

        국내 성견의 개 파보바이러스에 대한 항체가 조사

        This study was performed to monitor the level of serum canine parvovirus (CPV) antibody titers in adultdogs throughout the Korea from January 2003 to April 2004. A total of clinically healthy 885 dogs between 1 yearhemagglutination inhibition (HI) titers at the time dogs were brought to the hospital for revaccination. Most of dogshad been primarily vaccinated or previously revaccinated. Dogs were grouped by age, breed, sex, and primaryvaccination and revaccination to determine whether these factors were associated with antibody titers. Serum CPVtiters . 80 were considered protective. Protective antibodies against CPV were present in 95.0% of the population.Breed, age, and primary vaccination and revaccination were not significantly associated with serum CPV antibodytiters. But sex was significantly associated with CPV antibody titers. The results of this study have shown that thereis a need to reconsider the annual revaccination strategy against CPV infection.

        젖소 유방염 유래 Staphylococcus aureus의 PCR을 이용한 Genomic Fingerprinting

        A total of 137 strains of Staphylococcus aureus were isolated from dairy cow's milk with subclinical mastitis from 33 herds in 5 provinces and 36 strains of S aureus from clinical mastitis from 4 herds where the mastitis were severe problem. Arbitrary primed polymerase chain reactions with 10 bp oligonucleotide primer were performed and the PCR products were analysed with image analyzer, The S aureus strains were genotyped into 20 distinct DNA fingerprinting profiles. The size of PCR products ranged from 163 to 2,479 bp and PCR products of 506, 770, 784 and 2,479 bp were the most prevailing bands. Genotype 3 was founded in all 5 provinces. The various genotypes were identified in newly founded dairy herds, however, only one or two genotypes were identified in the closed herds. In clinical mastitis, only a limited number of different S aureus genotype was founded in each of the herds in comparision with subclinical mastitis. The results demonstrated that PCR-based DNA fingerprinting analysis of S aureus strain can be used to study epidemiology of mastitis, in addition, common genotype in geographic region can be useful for the development of an effective S aureus bacterin.

        개 디스템퍼 바이러스에 선택적인 예방접종 및 그 계획에 대한 자견의 혈청학적 반응

        We examined the responses of PBMCs to house dust mite (HDM) allergen in atopic and healthy, non-atopicdogs to identify differences in lymphocyte reactivity that might reflect the immunologic status of atopic dermatitis. Thirteenwas significantly higher in the atopic dogs than that in healthy, non-atopic dogs insensitive to the allergen (P = 0.007).The proliferative responses were positively correlated with the level of HDM-specific IgE in serum (P = 0.035), and werethereby confirmed to reflect the activity of lymphocytes competent to promote IgE production. These results suggestthat HDM-specific lymphocytes were present in peripheral blood and played a role in the pathogenesis of canine atopicdermatitis.

        개심장사상충의 정기 출현성에 관한 정량적 분석

        Six dogs including 4 dogs living in different geographic locations of Kangwon province and 2 client-owned dogs were used to determine the periodicity of microfilariae of D. immitis using a trigonometric model. The calculated periodicity index was ranged from 25.6 to 95.5% with mean of 57.6%, and the estimated hour of peak was approximately 21:00hrs (range, 20:04-21:29hrs) and minimum counts at 09:00hrs (range, 08:04-09:29hrs). Correlation coefficient between the observed and the expected count from the model varies depending on dogs, ranging from 6.4 to 49.2%. Based on this study, the periodicity of microfilariae of D. immitis was considered as nocturnally sub-periodic for all dogs employed. This result is in consistent with previous report in peak hour but different in minimal hour, indicating that further studies on the periodicity need to be performed to better understanding the dynamics of the periodicity and to help practitioners in the choice of the time for examination of the dogs.

        Serological Response of Pups to the Selected Canine Vaccines and Vaccination Schedules against Canine Parvovirus

        This study was undertaken to provide the appropriate vaccination protocol of canine parvovirus (CPV) vacinefor the companion dogs in Korea. A total of 120 healthy pups (20 pups per group) at 6 weeks of age were randomlyassigned to one of four commercially available vacines [C, G, K, and V groups] and one of vaccination schedulescomponent of the vaccines were determined by measuringHI titers. The maternal antibodies was declined to under the protective level at 6 weeks of age. Therefore, it wasconsidered that vacination of pups for CPV should be started at 6 weeks of age. And when the combination vacinewas used, the immunogenicity of V vacine was superior to the other vaccines and optimum vaccination schedulewas 3 times vaccination with 3 weeks-interval starting vacination at 6 weeks of age. Although pups were vaccinatedat 6 weeks of age, the geometric mean CDV titers of pups in all groups by 9 weeks of age were under the protectivelevel. So, hygienic measures including avoiding to exposure to the high risk areas were needed to prevent CPV infectionin this period. 본 연구에서는 우리나라 설정에 맞는 개 파보바이러스 백신의 예방접종 프로토콜을 마련하기 위하여, 국내에서 사용 중인 4종류의 상업용백신과 3가지의 예방접종 스테즐에 따른 면역형성 능력을 비교 평가하였다. 생후 6주령에 예방접종을 실시하기 위하여 동물병원에 내원한 120두의 강아지를 4종류의 백신 [C, G, K, V(또는 V3) 접종군]과 예방접종 스케줄[V2, V3, V4접종군]에 따라 20두씩 임의배치하였다. 그리고 모체이행 항체의 소장상태를 확인하기 위하여 동복의 건강한 7마리의 강아지를 예방접종을 실시하지 않고 17주 동안 관찰하였다. C, G, K, V(또는 V3) 접종군은 3주 간격으로 3회(6, 9, 12주), V2군은 5회(6, 8, 10, 12, 14주), V4은 3회(6, 10, 14주)에 피하로 예방접종을 실시하였다. 혈액은 생후 6주에 처음 채취하고 매 추가접종을 실시할 때와 마지막 예방접종을 실시한 후 3주 후에 한 번 더 채취하였으며 개 파보바이러스에 대한 혈청 혈구응집억제 항체가를 측정하였다. Seroconversion(혈청변환)은 전번의 항체가보다 4배 이상 증가하는 것으로 정의하였다. 파보바이러스에 대한 강아지의 모체이행항체는 6주령에 방어수준 이하로 떨어졌으며 개 파보바이러스에 대한 예방접종은 6주령에 시작하여야 할 것으로 생각되었다. 백신에 따른 면역형성능에서 V 백신의 면역형성 능력이 다른 백신보다 우수하였으며 백신 종류에 따라 면역형성 능력에 차이가 인정되므로 사용되는 백신의 효능을 주기적으로 평가하여야 할 것으로 판단되었다. 그리고 혼합백신을 사용하는 경우 예방접종 스케줄은 6주령에 예방접종을 시작하여 3주 간격으로 3회 접종하는 것이 합리적인 것으로 판단되었다. 그러나 예방접종을 실시한 모든 군의 대부분의 강아지는 생후 9주령까지 항체가 수준이 방어수준 이하로 나타나 개 파보바이러스의 감염을 예방하기 위하여 이 시기까지는 감염위험성이 높은 곳에 노출되는 것을 피해야 할 것으로 생각되었다.
