Deep Ultraviolet (DUV) fluorescence is very useful in imaging biological tissues and cells. It uses their intrinsic auto-fluorescence without fluorescence dying or tagging and without the need to determine the band-edge photoluminescences of wide bandgap nanomaterials. We successfully constructed a DUV fluorescence microscope operating in the 280 nm wavelength range by replacing and arranging the UV-transmitting optics and the UV LED. The results of the performance test of the constructed DUV fluorescence microscope showed that it can be conveniently used to obtain the epi-fluorescence image of electrospun fibrinogen nanofibers and thermally grown ZnO nanowires. 원자외선(Deep Ultra Violet: DUV) 형광 현미경은 생체조직의 자연형광을이용하여 형광표식 없이 형광이미징을 구현할 수 있으며, 광대역에너지갭 반도체 물질의 에피 형광 이미징을 수행할 수 있는 유용한 분석방법이다. 우리는 자외선에 대한 투과성이 낮은 보통 형광현미경 내부의광학계를 UV 투과성이 우수한 UV 광학계로 교체, 적절히 배치하고, UV LED를 광원으로 사용함으로써 280 nm 파장대에서 작동하는 DUV 형광현미경을 성공적으로 제작하였다. 제작된 DUV 형광현미경으로트립토판 아미노산, ZnO 나노선, fibrinogen 나노섬유의 DUV 형광이미징을 성공적으로 수행하였다.

In order to reduce the systematic error of a build-up system, we have proposed a new test procedure in which all force transducers in a build-up system are rotated by 90.deg. with a base platen fixed on a force standard machine. The setting positions of force transducers on the output of a build-up system were investigated using an orthogonal array. The effects of the parallelism of a build-up system and of the bending moment sensitivity of a force transducer were considered. The experimental results show that the setting position of the base platen hardly affects the output of the build-up system, but the setting positions of force transducers affects it strongly. It reveals that the new test procedure reduces effectively the systematic error of a build-up system.
Build-up 기법을 이용한 대용량 힘 측정 시스템 개발

This paper describes the build-up force measuring system of 9.9 MN capacity which consists of nine force transducers of each having 1.1 MN capacity. We have specially designed a force transducer for a build-up force measuring system to reduce the uncertainty of a build-up system and to accomodate the new test procedure for a build-up system. It reveals that the relative uncertainty of the force measuring system is less than 1.5*10$^{-4}$ in the ran9e of 1-4.5 MN irrespective of loading direction. The force measuring system may be used to calibrate a 10 MN force standard machine to be used as a large force standard in Korea.
시료 주사식 고해상도 레이저공초점현미경을 위한 범용 데이터 수집 플랫폼 기술

To form an optical image with a laser scanning confocal microscope (LSCM), one needs to obtain an optical signal in each pixel and combine them to form a two-dimensional image. This computer-aided process, called a DAQ (data acquisition), is an essential part of LSCM technology. We developed a DAQ platform for the LSCM by using a general-use DAQ board custom electronic controller. 공초점현미경은 기존의 광학현미경과 달리, 시료 표면을 raster 방식으로 주사시키면서 각 픽셀마다의 광 정보를 컴퓨터상의 메모리에 저장한 후 이를 다시 조합시켜 상을 만들어내는 과정을 거친다. 이러한 과정을 DAQ (data acquisition) 즉, 데이터 수집이라 하며 공초점현미경 시스템의 매우 중요한 요소 기술로서, 공초점현미경 구현을 위하여 대물렌즈등의 필수 광학계와 시료스테이지, 광검출기등의 주변장치와 더불어 필수적으로 요구되는 기술이다. 우리는 별도로 제작된 전자회로 콘트롤러 없이도 공초점현미경을 구성할 수 있도록 저가 상용 DAQ 보드와 직접 작성한 프로그램만으로 DAQ 플랫폼을 개발하였으며, 구축된 공초점현미경은 높은 광학해상도를 나타내었다.

A force sensor of 30 MN capacity using build-up technique in which three load cells of 10 MN capacity are arranged in parallel was fabricated. A column spring element was adopted as a shape of a strain gage type load cell. Temperature compensation circuits were used to reduce the error of a load cell. It was estimated that the total error of the fabricated force sensor is less than 0.1 %. The force sensor may be used to calibrate or test material testing machines above 4.5 MN capacity in industries.

Force measuring devices should be calibrated to guarantee their test results. In order to establish the force standards in Korea, deadweight machines of 5 kN, 20 kN, 100 kN and 500 kN capacity and a hydraulic force standard machine of 2 MN capacity were installed at the Korea Research Institute of Standards and Science(KRISS). As heavy industries in Korea have been developed, we should measure large forces over 2 MN capacity precisely in industries. We developed a 10 MN force standard machine with built-in force transducers which is more compact and cheaper than hydraulic force standard machines which have been widely used as large force standards in most national metrology laboratories. Test results reveal that the relative expanded uncertainty of the force machine is less than 4.1 $\times$ 10-4 in the range of 1 MN-4.5 MN.
